Hey, everyone, I just had a brain blast! This is probably going to lose a lot of people, but I thought of a really expensive way to make a pet! I was watching a show known as Secret Strange and True on TechTV, when they showed this cool computer game. It was a sort of virtual secretary, with voice recognition, and she could do things based on the command you gave her. well, what if you were to take that technology, put it on a portable computer, or a tablet, one of the two, and specialize it? add a microphone, a speaker, a fold-down mini-keyboard, not to mention bluetooth technology to talk live with other friends. add a camera to analyze the look on your face, and a telephone line that could connect you to the internet! the person could have the main web page, then the Net Navi in the corner like a quieter version of that paperclip in Microsoft Word! I know it would be expenseive, but all you\'d have to do after that is change the graphics to your liking, so that you have a net navi instead of a secretary, and you\'d be in business!!! so, assuming that that is possible, what are your views? anything else to add to the list of hardware? suggestions? anything? that would be cool!!!

Whoa now all you newbies, start using proper grammar. Back on topic, that is quite an interesting idea. All that is left to be done is to get a really rich guy to fund it, a bunch of expert computer builders, and a bunch of really good programmers.

:cool:well, first of all, I never said that I was going to be the one to build this, the key part ( the computer secretary) is still available only in Japan, so if and when they send that over, then I might try out my idea. second, I wouldn\'t really be putting the entire net at risk, since I wouldn\'t be creating a net like the one in the game. It would still be the same thing as it is now, only you\'d have your own personal assistant. Thirdly, as for the battle chips, I\'m sure if the person who made it got permission from someone like Nintendo, the game cartridges could very easily be doubled as battlechips. all you\'d have to do is add a seperate bit of data only recognized by the PET. Finally, it would mean that America would have a really good reason to make internet cafe\'s, since so many people could use the pets. And think of the barriers it would break! anyone with a voice could surf the net, and those without voice could use the mini-keyboard that folds down. So...who wants to buy the secretary software? after that its all downhill!:lol::D:lol: and to me, Mr. S sounds too formal, but whatever floats your boat!:lol:

there already are PETS in Japan and at a website called toysnjoys and its coming out in July In fact, there are chips and everything, but all the PETs i saw were Protoman, Megaman, and Bass

so, are these PETs in Japan just games, or are they like computers? I mean, anyone can take a tamagachi and remake it for Capcom, but will they be able to do what they can in the game? because I don\'t want to re-invent the PET, but then I don\'t want another Digimon revolution, either. so? what\'s the verdict? also, if you all are searching the net and find that secretary I was talking about, could you tell me about it? I would like to research this more fully, since I would like to see these dreams become realities.

Ah, but you see, the one that I\'m thinking of is like a PDA with personality. It can do everything, not just battle. I\'m sure there\'s a way that you could fit internet surfing in with all the other stuff, too, all you\'d need is a wireless connector and a place for that signal to go. set up a few DSL internet distributors along with those internet cafe\'s and you\'re in business!

Hummm. Try to analyze the brainwaves of humans during certain emotions, then try to program that into a program. THen begin setting all the constants in the program: Size, color, capability, endurance, power... You couldn\'t do that many per line, so making better Navis would be harder.
It would also take a long time, so you\'d have to be patient. ANd that\'s just the navi. Try feeding that into and making the PETS.

Second, what you hade described is more or less the Nintedo DS. And there is allready a MMBN game on development for it.

The DS has voice recognition, a built in keyboard, touch screen, whireless link and an internet connection. It\'s also possible to use \"battlechips\" on it, since you can scan in battle cards with the E-reader.

Of course, making a stand allone PET could be an idea, but I\'ll just be waiting for the DS version, since it\'s got those functions allready.

An E-reader is an acsessory, like the GB camera. You have to buy them seperatly.

I don\'t know if you can use the current E-reader for the DS, but I don\'t think they will need to make a new one any time soon.

your idea wont work cause you wold need to add a slot in for chips and you would need something to jack into and you would need viruses and you would need a different net navi casue every one would have the same:D

Okay, just to reitterate on what I\'m saying here, this idea is to make PETs with personal assistants. that is the role of a net navi, to be a Personal Digital Assistant, or PDA, only more advanced. if people were to make this, it would be very costly and time-consuming. When I posted, I said it was possible not probable.

Also, if people were to add a net-battling system to it, they would either use something similar to the scannerz game or e-reader for the chips, have websites that randomly spawn viruses, and most likely would not have an actuall visual Net which your net navi would travel on. It would be just like it is now, only \"with a less annoying version of the Microsoft Word Paperclip\", your net Navi. Am I making myself any more clear?

you know that is a good idea and all it would be easy you could take a pda and just hack the system for it and change it so you could creat a navi on the computer and download it to the pda becuase pdas have all that stuff except for the micrephone (some of them do but really expensive) so ya it would be easy and since all most all of them come with one of those transmitter things that use fiber optics like a remote to your tv does it could go onto you comp so you can baseically jack into your computer it would be like that spiderman program where you give him a command and he does it................ (maybe i should get the money to make one but i don\'t know how)

This has been possible for a while,just that no one has every really cared(yet)I had a dream once that when i grow up(every teenager\'s dream,right) I would make a technology simalar the the BN3 PET

PDA and Bluetooth: $900
specialized bar-code scanner, mass production of chips with specific bar codes, animation software and commercials to air on an average television studio network: Priceless (well, too expensive to count up and work for)

Anything else that we should have in this non-cost-effective list? I\'m serious, so what else, if anything, would this need?

I had no clue the Nitendo DS could do that...I heard it would have like 2 screens or something...but never that they would be touch screens and that you could go on the internet..SWEET!!! As for your idea Serpentarius, I think its a good idea...that would rock if you could do something like that...but it would be so expensive...not a lot of people could afford those.

Okay, as of being a programmer...
Voice recognition software is a fraud you have to record your voice then create an action for it. A whole bunch of work. Getting to files.... Uh-oh. Imagine having to memorize what every file comes from. The location of it. Just look at the name of this website. Imagine having to remember http://www.interordi.com/mboard/post.php?action=reply&fid=10&tid=7153. Good luck to you everyone.
