Have you ever bought an expansion pack without buying the game it responds to? That\'s sort of the feeling I\'ve gotten after playing Samurai Warriors: Xtreme Legends. Now, the first game was pretty awesome. 15 characters, mindless hack and slash, and the grand introduction of the bald Kieji Maeda.:D It also included 3 decent vs. modes, a new officer creator, and two storylines for almost every character. Pretty nice.
I bought Samurai Warriors expecting it to be the same game with minor upgrades. I was sadly mistaken; it\'s the upgrades without the game. You can play 3 new vs. modes, all fairly lame. Also, there are 4 new characters, which were all pretty cool. Hideyoshi and Yoshimoto make for some amusing storylines, Tadaketsu kicks almost as much butt as Kieji, and Ina...has a bowblade. Furthermore, there\'s the \"Gold Rush\" survival mode. You can also build up your characters beyond their limitations by unlocking level breakers, 6th weapons, and so on. And let\'s not forget the all-important remix feature, because in fact, this is where it all falls apart...
Read over the previous paragraph once more. This is all that\'s available in it without remix. No new officers, no 15 original characters in story mode, no good vs. modes... In short, under 12 hours of gameplay to get everyone to level 20, then you\'re about done. However, if you can remix, this should be no problem, right? One would imagine that old Samurai Warriors data would do the trick. Not the case. To use the remix, you require the old Samurai Warriors disc. I wouldn\'t have bought Xtreme Legends if I\'d known this, because the original easily contains twice the gameplay of the second. If I already had the first, why would I pay 40 bucks for an expansion of it?
Anyways, just wanted to warn future players. Also, if anyone does happen to know a way to remix without the other disc, it would be appreciated...
