on the main page of the boards it says how many topics there are it says 7000

That's how the board makes eash URL different. However, the one at the front would be better as it shows all available topics. It's like the post count. It only show the posts that haven't been deleted.

The sum isn't even right. I only count 6994 topics.

Unless the hidden 12 topics are counted too of course.

The board counts all topics, not just ones that aren't hidden.

I don't know about that.Go into the just retarded people topic then look at the URL.It has a different number.

The numbers (which are called ID's) are what should give a topic something unique. When you make a lot of topics which are all the same, they don't get confused with each other because each of them has it's own ID, which of couse remains constant.
