It's the end of the year! And who says "end of the year" says "year recap"! Yeah!!

One of those stories to catch my attention today was CBC's Top 12 Internet characters of 2012.

It turns out I've heard from 8 out of 12 of these. How about yourself? Is there any big name you believe was omitted from the list?

This made me do a double-take.

Scientists Developing Tornado Power Plant

The completed design could be one of the cheapest forms of energy around.

A group of Canadian scientists are working on a power plant that will use a controlled tornado to drive turbines, and they're calling it the Atmospheric Vortex Engine (AVE). Essentially, the AVE works by pulling hot, humid, low air into itself and creating a vortex - approximately the way a tornado works, this air makes a major tem ...

We're in 2012. This is the digital age, right? Some things have changed for the better, while others have yet to be worked on.

I'm making this post, hopefully the first in a series, to share my thoughts and experiences on how I can use mobile technology in my life.

Many people around here know about the PETs from the Mega Man Battle Network series, and how the characters in the games, anime and manga appear to be able to use these versatile devices to do about anything that i ...

Personal attacks are lame, especially in politics, and most notably when they attack something that isn't an actual problem by any stretch.

Now, this comes up: Candidate slammed for World of Warcraft fandom

One woman, running for a seat in the senate, is being attacked by the opposing group for playing as an Orc Assassination Rogue, level 85, in World of Warcraft. How is someone having a fun hobby being any ground for staging an attack for the first place?

Before you know it, w ...

I'm doing a senior project for school, and it involves researching the history of arcades. However, what I'm going to really be talking about are the social aspects--stuff like:

*Communities formed
*Friendships made
*General camaraderie
*Arcades as an escape
*The social experience

Basically, what kept people going beyond the attraction of the videogames, considering the rising popularity of home consoles through the 80s ad 90s.

If any of you guys were around in the 70s ...

So... I was on Facebook the other day, and what I saw in one of the MMOG groups I joined was a link. It contained nothing bad, no expicity, no suggestive material at all:

Click for Rewards?

Supposedly, if you click this, it will give you a referral link and give the initial referrer a point. And as such, trade the points in for rewards.

The site's title is called "AwardGain" and I wanna see if this works... 17 clicks for a 50$ game card? Let the experiment begin! ...

If there's anything that a decade and a half on the internet has taught me, it's that the world is full of cynicism. Misery loves company and stories that make us lose our faith in humanity are everywhere. So why not share something uplifting today? By that, I don't mean something necessarily religious or just a quote from some random philosopher. Share a story that's out of the ordinary, whether it's in the news or direct from someone in your life. Here's my ex ...

on drawception, ok. Does anyone else play Drawception? It's a brilliant concept and almost always results in hilarity.

This is news to me, but it was apparently known for a while that Bandai Entertainment was scaling down it's publishing activities. We now know that they'll completely stop printing any of the anime and manga series they're currently responsible for by the end of this month. They published a lot of popular series over the years, such as Code Geass, Gurren Lagann, Lucky Star, Gundam and Cowboy Bebop.

Anyone familiar with their catalogue would like to offer suggestions on seri ...

HOUSTON — A warp drive to achieve faster-than-light travel — a concept popularized in television's Star Trek — may not be as unrealistic as once thought, scientists say.

A warp drive would manipulate space-time itself to move a starship, taking advantage of a loophole in the laws of physics that prevent anything from moving faster than light. A concept for a real-life warp drive was suggested in 1994 by Mexican physicist Miguel Alcubierre; however, subsequent calculations ...

Given it's popularity, surely I'm not the only one who watches this show? I mean, especially since I hardly ever watch any kind of TV ever.

For those who DON'T, it's a story about a high school chemistry teacher who, after learning he has developed a severe case of lung cancer, turns to making crystal meth to secure his family's financial needs after he's gone. It's an amazing show currently in a mid-season hiatus. I BELIEVE all of the episodes sans t ...

It will come out February 11th this year in Japan.

I will be going to view it at a pre-release viewing next week at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam. :D

So recently I lost access to my NVIDIA control panel that I eventually fixed by disabling onboard graphics so my computer could rely on the graphics card I had installed. This came with a price, as those onboard graphics was what allowed my computer to work with my HDTV. I have since fixed that by getting a DVI-to-HDMI adapter so my TV can hook up to the graphics card directly.

Now, somehow, during that timeframe when I wasn't using the computer until I got that part, my computer a ...

Well, this seems significant in the developments of the field of particle physics, at least!

In regards to national security, nearly two-thirds (65%) of Americans think Barack Obama would be better suited than fellow presidential candidate Mitt Romney to handle an alien invasion. In fact, more than two in three (68%) women say that Obama would be more adept at dealing with an alien invasion than Romney, vs. 61 percent of men. And more younger citizens, ages 18 to 64 years, than those aged 65+ (68% vs. 50%) think Romney would not be as well-suited as Obama to handle an alien invasion ...

Doesn't seem quite possible.

Don't know who uses Netflix, but there are a few animes I was thinking about starting up to watch that I haven't seen. If you have an opinion on them I'd love to know. :D

Elfen Lied
GIrls Bravo
Blood+
Angel Beats
Mushi-Shi

That's all I got for now. If you have seen some on Netflix that isn't mentioned that you happened to like, tell me about em. :D

It may not be anime or manga. It is however, a webcomic.

It's not made for humor; rather it's a story. It begins with a boy attempting to acquire a game beta called "Sburb". It ends up involving multiple species of aliens, assasins, time paradoxes, and meteors. Lots of meteors.

I'm sure some of you already know of this. For those who don't~

Any anyone here watched the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni or Umineko no Naku Koro ni series? I went through both some time back, and I had a good time doing so! I even got myself a fan-made poster of Higurashi displayed in my room at home. Those who've seen Umineko will definitely recognize Ange as part of this forum's banner, her being my favorite character and all.

Both franchises have an interesting cast of characters and plot twists galore, which I always love. Higurashi's ...

Own your own Proto Man Pony today!

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a crazy manga about blowing up vampires with martial arts, freezing time, turning guns into bananas, and having every superpower named after a famous band or song. It's been running for a long time now - Part 8 recently started, tracking the adventures of different protagonists over the course of time, each one having a name that can be shortened to "JoJo" in some way.

At first the manga had similar artwork to Fist of the North Star and was ...

My projects are in jeopardy.

I'll go turn on my computer, the lights on my key board won't turn on. The fan in the back won't spin, no noises coming out the machine. The power button that turns it on, the light is amber in color.

I was wondering if anyone here has the same computer, and/or has had the same problem I have.

HEEEELLLLLLP, I just want it to turn on so I can save my materials onto a disk. And yes, I am hoping to get a new computer.

Has the world really come down to this? Really?

I've decided to join Tumblr by opening my own little place. I'll be using this to post about things I find interesting, share some Mega Man thoughts, as well as post about whatever I'm doing in Minecraft. That way, I won't end up spamming the other topic everytime I find a little something in the game. :) Tumblr's format that allows posting several types of content quickly is something I like a lot, and I'm curious to see how other people are using it as well.

Hey everyone!

I was thinking...we talk to each other like this on this message board...without a clue of who we\'re really talking to. I know it doesn\'t really matter how you look, but I was just thinking that it might be fun to see!(And not funny)

So, if you have a picture of yourself, we\'d be glad to see the beautiful person that is you. :)

Rules to follow:

1) Don\'t steal pictures that aren\'t even pictures of you.(Unless you\'re trying to be funny :P )

2) Be sensitiv ...
