You might have noticed a lack of updates lately. This has many reasons. First of all, there is nothing big happening in the Mega Man Community: the next game is supposed to come out in September. Next, I've been working many hours this summer, thus leaving me with less free time. More, I got many new games lately, plus the old games I haven't beaten yet, so this gives me a lot of job on my hands :-P Patience, patience... There is only 3 more weeks before I go back to College. As s ...
According to an attendant of this week's Rockman 20th Anniversary celebration, Keiji Inafune, the creator of the Rockman/Mega Man series, has expressed his interest in creating another Mega Man game within the next 5 years in light of the series' visibly prominent fanbase.
When the attendant asked an unnamed representative about the status of a Mega Man game for Wii, his vague answer hinted that such an idea, while not yet in development, is being considered for a later date.
Two months ago, MegaBoy presented us a full set of maps to accompany Mega Man ZX: Advent. He steps forward once again with an updated version of his maps, which are now based on the North American version of the game instead of the Japanese one. This is all available on the same page as before!
The Oekaki is back!
I finally went around to put the Oekaki board back online for everyone's enjoyment. Full details are with picture #2748. Have fun!
Current status
First of all, my apologies for the lack of news, updates and communication lately. This semester at school keeps me a lot busier than previous semesters, and it unfortunately cuts off more of my free time. As a result, I have to keep delaying everything. This means that, for the next two months, expect me to take a bit ...
Welcome everyone to the NEW Mega Man PC Website: Dr. Cossack's lab! I am pleased to show you the latest version of the site. While each of the previous versions still retained a large part of the original coding, v4.0 was almost created from scratch. The extended use of CSS and PHP will allow me to customize the layout much faster from now on, and I made everything more compliant to the W3.org standards.
Compatibility
The new layout has been tested with several web browsers, on two ...
I thought I should try to keep everyone informed...
Anniversary
Today marks the 2nd anniversary of this website (it started back in 2000). Thanks to everyone still sticking around! We are getting through some hard times, but the best is yet to come :-)
Overload
I now have less than 2 weeks left of school. Unfortunately, I'm overloaded with school assignments and such, so my time frame is very limited. I have my last exam on the May 16th, so everything will be moving MUCH faster ...
I've expanded the Truth Corner section based on the feedback received from the last website survey. The layout has been reorganized a bit, and you can now access a listing of all the available entries at the right of the page. This makes it easier to locate a specific block of information.
More entries are now available as well. You'll find some information available on the following points:
The canon content
What about the remakes? Are they canon too?
The years of the game e ...
After four years of having the Mega Man Anniversary Collection (previously known as Mega Man Mania) for GBA listed among the release dates, I've decided to take it down. It's time to kill that running gag, as it's far too obvious now that the project was cancelled years ago. Besides, about no new GBA games are being released anymore.
To all visitors on the website, I wish you a very Merry Christmas! I hope that you'll all have a nice, interesting day full of surprises!
As an extra note, I'm leaving you with the following teaser picture. It's meaning is to be unveiled on New Year's Day (or a few hours late, depending on how things go):
I'm happy to announce that the Wily & Light's Rockboard: That's Paradise!! translation project is now COMPLETE! After years of work, you can now download a translation patch to fully translate this Japanese-only game into English. The teaser posted a week ago is none other than a building seen in the background of the third level of the game, Hot Zone.
I'll fully admit that the work on this has taken a lot longer than originally planned. The nature of the g ...
Strazicic, who previously contributed some FanArt to the site, came back to me with another set of impressive mixed scenes. All of them feature several characters from the various Mega Man series, along with some external cameos and original designs. He also sent it clearer scans of his three original pictures. All of these are available in his
dedicated gallery.
I'd like to use this update to remind you of the now-available FanArt-Oekaki link, which allows you to link your FanArt g ...
The Truth Corner has been expanded with a new entry: Future games. This aims to clear up the status of the various Mega Man series, and from which future announcements can be expected.
Capcom announced this week at its Digital Day 08 event that Mega Man Star Force 2: Zerker x Ninja and Zerker x Saurian would see US release this coming June at a $30 price point. A final release date has not yet been revealed.
Hit the link for a full press release from Capcom.
Completing the set, the maps for Mega Man Battle Network 6 have been reordered. Now matching the pages for the other games of the same series, the page lists the areas in the order they should be visited at first.
What you might have witnessed in the last 24 hours was none other than my latest attempt at an April's Fools Day prank. Those curious about the details of the event can get more information on this topic of the message board.
May 2008 is the website's anniversary, and as such, I'm now announcing a new drawing event on the oekaki board: a mini-contest!
This one is quite a bit different from the last contest done on this website, hence the name "mini-contest". Instead of a challenge based on skill, this is a challenge based on participation and luck: anyone who submits a valid picture through the month, which fits with the given theme, will be entered to win a 20$ Amazon.com gift card. This gives a ch ...
Continuing its long-standing tradition of making far more sequels than are necessary, Capcom has set up a preview page for the third installment in the Star Force series (Ryusei no Rockman in Japan).
There's not much there as of right now, aside from a fancy flash page and a downloadable wallpaper. But, now we know it's coming. And if you have any sense, you'll probably see Star Force 4 coming from a mile away, as well.
Welcome people, and gather around as we celebrate the Mega Man PC Website: Dr. Cossack's Lab eighth anniversary! This year was a bit special as two long-awaited projects were made available. First of all, the Rockboard translation was finally completed, giving you access to one of the very few non-translated Mega Man games. Second, the ever-requested resume feature was added to the oekaki board to allow people to spread out a drawing over several days, if not weeks.
Earlier today, the oekaki board reached an important moment of it's history as the 10,000th picture was submitted by Worenx. For the record, the board was first made available during Summer 2001, and currently holds over 7210 pictures contributed by many, many people. Be sure to join if you're an artist who enjoys drawing Mega Man characters!
As a reminder, half of May has gone away: that means that you have about two weeks left to enter the mini-contest. Remember to jump in to ...
New screenshots of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, an in-development Capcom crossover game, have surfaced, courtesy of Famitsu magazine. In these screens, a Mega Man Legends/Tron Bonne stage is clearly visible, with Servbots scurrying around in the background as well. Could this hint at more Mega Man representation in the future of the Capcom Vs. titles?
The winning entry is this very friendly-looking Beat, drawn by none other than HollowTorment! Congratulations!
Hollow, you'll receive your prize shortly: a 20$ Amazon.com Gift Card! Please check your message board PM inbox: I've sent you a message there.
While we're on the topic of the mini-contest, I've created a short survey to get your opinion on this new event. It's only 4 short questions, and I'd appreciate it if you t ...
Uncovered by forum-goers at NeoGAF. This morning, a new registry has surfaced on the website of The Classification Board of the Australian Government, under the title of MEGA MAN 9.
Details are scarce; the information on the registry shows that the game is scheduled to be multi-platform (XBLA/PSN release?), and the "Application" field reads "Red Ant Enterprises", a sizable company that handles Australian game publications such as the Wii Okami port and Lost Planet.
(New developments....Okay, this info is for real. Seriously. No joke.)
With a legitimate screenshot of Mega Man 9 now circulating the net, we have confirmation of the game's visual style -- pure 8-bit, and true to its roots. The game looks just like the NES games!
Straight from the pages of Nintendo Power, we also have a list of the game's Robot Masters:
Magma Man
Galaxy Man
Jewel Man
Concrete Man
Hornet Man
Plug Man
Tornado Man
Splash Woman (?!)
To dispel any doubts about this upcoming title, Capcom of Japan wrote a news item about it.
The following information can be confirmed:
Mega Man 9 IS coming
The 8-bits, NES-like style will be used for graphics, music and sounds
It's been prepared for WiiWare
The launch target, at least in Japan, is for September of this year
More information is scheduled to be given on the 15th.
Today, courtesy of IGN, a new trailer has surfaced for Mega Man 9, with footage of various stages and a wonderful piece of background music to be featured in the game. With this trailer comes an announcement from Capcom themselves that the game will see a multiplatform release on all three download services -- WiiWare, XBLA, and PSN.
Release date is still obscure, stay tuned for more details.
I have added a Staff page to list everyone officially named to help with various sections of the site. While I'm the most visible person, I'm not the only one running the show, and these people deserve our thanks too!
A debate that has been brewing since the announcement that Mega Man 9 would be a downloadable title keeps getting more attention: does Mega Man 9, the long-awaited game, deserve to be more than a downloadable game? What does the franchise need to get people's attention once again?
The Helldragon, frequest visitor of our message board, strongly believes that this game (and the franchise as a whole) deserves better. He presents his full reasoning in a YouTube video, available for all t ...
People have requested it, so it's now official: the oekaki mini-contests, as it happened last May, will become a regular feature of the oekaki board. They will be scheduled to happen every few months with a different theme being offered each time. As a result, it's now time to launch the mini-contest #2!
In the same format as before, this is a challenge based on participation and luck: anyone who submits a valid picture through the month will be entered to win a 20$ Amazon.com g ...
