*pokes server* Seems to hold itself together... This site has been up and down for the last two weeks, and you might wonder what the heck happened. If that's the case, then keep on reading. If not, then you can just move on. However, don't start e-mailing me if you haven't read this post.
Here's a recap of everything that happened since last month. This should help you understand what went wrong.
February 21: My host runs a regular check on their servers. A SMART ch ...
Now that the server has proven itself to be stable, and that I'm done with some other stuff, the oekaki board has been brought back online. More information about that is available in the announcements of the board.
Also, most sections of the site are now back online. Some more minor stuff left and right is still broken, but the hardest part is done. Within a week or two, all should be fine.
I would like to remind everyone that today is April's Fools Day. As such, everyone should be very careful about what "announcements" are made today. No, Capcom won't announce Mega Man Battle Network 3 Grey, Pink and Rainbow to be released tomorrow. Nintendo isn't going to leave the video gaming business to sell chewing gum, and Capcom won't release a new 1024 bits console next week.
My advice is to overlook any news item from today, and check tomorrow instead, to see i ...
Yes, I know it's been over a month and a half since last update. Yes, I know I was supposed to report back sooner than that. Yes, I've got a nice e-mail backlog. Let's skip all of this, because:
College is over! Not over as in: "going back in August", but over as "over and done with". I've completed my College studies this week, so I'm now out of school. That means that I'll finally be able to spend my evenings and weekends on doing whatever I want inste ...
*checks* As I announced 4 days ago, I've just recoded a new system allowing me to post news. This one will be a lot less server intensive than the previous one, and won't cause any server instability. This system will have some tweaking and additions in the following days, but it's now stable enough to be live.
From now on, I'll be able to report more information since I can post from anywhere. More is coming!
After much coding, I'm happy to reopen the FanArt archive! It has been totally recoded, and should be much nicer to view and use from now on. I still have to fix some minor details in the next few days, but hopefully you shouldn't notice anything.
Be sure to give it a look! If you want to see only the newly added or updated pictures, simply follow this link. If you wish to contribute a picture to the archive, be sure to read the guidelines, then send it to me and I'll add ...
I almost forgot about these! Mega Man Network Transmission, for the Nintendo GameCube, was released yesterday in North America. While this game is a platformer (unlike the previous RPG titles), I've heard it was quite challenging, with many hidden spots everywhere. But fear not! MegaBoy has created a set of maps for this game, just like the ones he did for the first three MMBN titles. Those were popular enough to deserve a set for the GameCube spin-off title, so here they are! These map ...
The FanArt archive has been updated with 5 new pictures, submitted by 4 artists. As it is the case now, to quickly find which pictures were added, you can use the Recent pictures only link available on the FanArt archive section.
The Mega Man Network Transmission maps have been updated to have the latest information of the North American release. Note that all filenames changed, so if you had a link directly to a map, it was changed. The maps still aren't ordered by categories, since I haven't played the game yet.
The FanArt archive has been updated once again! This time, we have 2 pictures by newcomer Caliweed, and 1 new picture from established submitter SpringMan. As usual, there's a link available to view the new pictures only.
The Link to me section has a banner and button available to link to this site, along with code to copy & paste to make the job easier. However, as a kind visitor pointed out to me, the code wasn't correct, thus causing the link pictures not to show up. I fixed the issue, so if you tried to use the page information and it didn't work, feel free to try again!
Due to some technical difficulties, the message board and oekaki board will both be down until the beginning of next month. Unfortunately, this website is almost out of bandwidth already, even though half the month isn't even done. I don't know exactly yet what used so much bandwidth, and I'll run tests next month to find the source and get fix this issue.
The website itself will probably fall in a few days. I took both boards down to give it a chance to last a bit longer. ...
Now that August is over, I've reopened the sections that were on hold. That means that the message board, oekaki board and music section are all available once again.
To prevent further bandwidth problems, I'll be blocking bandwidth leechers from linking directly to key directories. Regular visitors shouldn't notice anything, as this will only affect those who link directly to files located on this site.
The FanArt archive has been updated with one new picture by Chicoboltsi. Take a look, it's an interesting composition.
Other site updates should be done in the next following days. With the bandwidth problems stabilised, I'll be able concentrate on doing actual work on the site.
I haven't done much news reports about the game releases lately, but this one is worth your attention: Capcom announced today the Mega Man Anniversary Collection. It looks like the wishes of many fans toward the 15th Anniversary of the blue bomber have been answered. This compilation, which will be available for both Nintendo GameCube and Sony Playstation 2, will feature Mega Man 1 to 8 (from the NES, SNES and PSX) and both Mega Man: Power Battles and Power Fighters (the two rare arcade ...
After leaving the release dates unattended for several months, I've entered the latest information today. Now, everything should be accurate, but since those dates can change quickly, keep in mind that delays are possible. I've made it easier for me to update the information, so I'll be keeping a close look on future announcements from Capcom to keep the information accurate.
In what could be the largest update to the FanArt section yet, there are 32 new pictures available tonight! 13 are by newcomer ACE_Spark; 18 by anitalon, another newcomer; and one new picture by PhungDinhDzung. If you enjoy FanArt, be sure to look at all the new pictures!
It looks like Capcom will keep announcing new Mega Man games for a while: today, GameSpot reports that a new X game is on it's way. Mega Man X Command Mission appears to be an RPG, with separate interfaces for moving/talking and battle, like so many other games of this type. The graphics appear to be very similar to X7, and this time arounnd, the game is going to come out for both the Sony Playstation 2 and the Nintendo GameCube. There's not a lot known about that new title yet, an ...
The older Bravenet chatroom was easy of use perhaps, but full of problems (more and more ads, can't copy & paste, etc.) In order to get rid of these, I just made a new chatroom available, replacing the old one which will be deleted. This new chat is now available through both a Java applet (similar to the former room), and through an IRC channel. That way, you can join using your favorite mean of communication! You can find all the details to connect on the chat information page.
As you should have noticed by now, the site took an orange glow. That temporary design is up only for the days before Halloween, and the normal blue tones will return on November 1st. Until then... don't be too scared, the ghosts are lurking! >:-)
The message board has been fixed, and shouldn't have any more issues for the time being. That was the last of the problems caused by the downtime experienced earlier this week. Expect more updates soon!
The FanArt archive has been updated once again, this time with 10 new pictures from various artists. Be sure to drop by if you're interested! Link to the new pictures.
UPDATE November 10, 2003: Another picture by NiteCrawlr2 has been added. You can find it under the name "Chemical Man".
One of the last few missing sections has finally made a comback: the links section is now available for your browsing pleasure! This new version of the section has been automated, so maintaining it will be much easier than before. Right now, only a few links are available: that's before I'm counting on YOUR help to complete this listing! It's now possible for you to submit your own links, so we can have a complete directory of Mega Man websites available. You can submit either ...
Capcom recently added on their website this page, offering several bundles available for this Christmas only. Three of these bundles are about the Blue Bomber, each being a great way to get into a series you haven't tried before:
Mega Man X Holiday Bundle: contains Mega Man X4, X5 and X6 for the PSX, X7 for the PS2, and a t-shirt small format.
Mega Man Zero Holiday Bundle: contains Mega Man Zero, Zero 2 and Mega Man & Bass for the GBA, as well as a t-shirt small format.
Mega Man ...
Somehow, the links section hasn't been working for a while. I don't know for how long it was broken, but it probably was for several days, if not weeks. No wonder why no one was submitting any links to add to the directory... As I said a while back, if you want to see a site added to the directory, simply sumbit it yourself! It's fast and easy to do so. You can also send several links if you want to. Help create an helpful list of Mega Man websites available!
As you should have noticed by now, I've switched to a special website look for the holidays. This will stay up for the length of the holidays, to go back to the regular blue look soon after. Happy holidays!
Many people were excited at the previous announcement of Mega Man Collection, the set with Mega Man 1 to 8 and the two arcade titles. Not to leave any games forgotten, Capcom of America recently announced Mega Man Mania, a single GameBoy Advance cart holding all five original GameBoy titles, Mega Man I to V! The information page on Capcom's site is light on details, but from the screenshots, it appears that color has been added to all games. They used to be black & white only, due to t ...
I just want to wish everyone visiting today a Merry Christmas, along with what you wished for. For those who don't celebrate Christmas, well, have a nice day!
