As announced previously, we're starting a weekly Events Night happening on the Creeper's Lab!
Why have a special time for that? There are two main reasons:
1- It can be difficult to find many players willing to engage in a competition at the same time.
2- As we're spread out all over the world, travel time is an issue for many.
Only during Events Nights, various portals (represented by TARDIS and time gates above) will be enabled, allowing people to quic ...
After last week's success, it's time to do this again! As listed in the previous news post, there are several single- AND multi-player activities available! The teleportation pads will be enabled at about 9pm Eastern Time *, and will remain open for a few hours! Join us for some fun!
* The actual start time might be slightly delayed depending on my own schedule. Sorry if that happens!
As before, this Saturday night is Events Night! You're welcomed to join us for several single and multiplayer activities, including some new attractions! Various teleporters will be enabled to allow you to quickly move from one region to another. We're looking forward to see you there, starting at around 9pm Eastern time*!
If you haven't heard yet, what happened on the 1st of April was nothing more than an April's Fools Day gag. :) All the destruction and weirdness you might have seen on that day is gone, and we're back on track!
For a full recap of what happened, please see this topic in the forums!
I'm happy to announce that we're now running Minecraft v1.5! Update your client, then join us to discover the new features!
To all quartz hunters: I've run a special world modification program that added quartz ore to the current Nether. This means that you do not need to go to unexplored areas to find quartz!
I'd like to remind all players that Saturday nights are Events Nights!
From approximately 9pm to midnight, Eastern time, you're welcome to join us for various multiplayer activities such as PvP, pig racing, spleef and more! Many single-player attractions are also available, including roller coasters, a parkour arena and mazes.
To give you a chance to reach those special locations quickly, you'll find some TARDIS and time gates spread around the world. Those serve as tele ...
The server's community is growing and growing, and with some of the usually reliable members busy with their personal lives, I'm looking to add a few people to the staff of the server. Ideally, I'd like to get one new Helper and one new Server Op, and that might be you!
The tasks of a helper include the following:
Greeting the new players and answering any questions they might haveChecking on those players to make sure they understand and follow the rulesGetting players ...
Hot on the heels of last week's 1.5.2 update, the server is now running the latest version of Minecraft with some bug fixes. Please update and keep on playing!
I'd like to take a minute to remind old and new players alike that Saturday nights are Events Nights!
This completely optional event, which starts at around 9pm Eastern time every Saturday, is the perfect opportunity for our players to do something besides mining and crafting. PvP, pig racing, parkour, mazes and more are on the menu!
Two new locations have been added recently to the rotation: Chicking by iKatze and Isle of Carnage by WindRider739. Chicking, playable by up ...
I'd like to remind all participants of our fancy house building contest that, from the time of this post, you have 72 hours left to complete your build! With 20 people picking a lot in Oak Hills, the judging period should prove interesting. I suggest to everyone who started construction to wrap things up before the end of Saturday!
Our official resource pack has been updated today! From the words of Sphenicus himself: "Sounds! A small selection of the default sounds have been improved upon for a more unique experience. Continue playing as usual and see what surprises are in store! More to come, don't you worry!" Download the new version from it's dedicated page!
In order to properly mark the work put into this, Sphenicus has inherited the Media status. Congrats!
First things first, I'd like to remind all players, new and old alike, that Saturday nights are Events Nights! Starting at around 9pm (Eastern Time) and lasting a few hours, this special period is designated for players to visit various attractions and participate in group events. To make this easier, a set of teleporters is enabled at various key points on the map. Losses upon death are also negated: anyone who dies won't lose any items or experience, making PvP battles much easie ...
It's time to update, everyone: the server is now running Minecraft 1.6.2! Note that you need to download a new launcher to be able to use the latest game version. You can find the download link near the bottom of this news post. Once the new launcher is installed on your computer, I suggest that you click the "Edit profile" buttton and select "release 1.6.2" as the "Use version" setting. That way, whenever the client gets an automatic update, you won't have to go switch back your s ...
Hot on the trail of the discovery of the elusive achievement #100, and still pumped from the hunt, our players kept on busy working through the latest set of 50. Less than a week after those were added, Anonymous_SoFar topped the leaderboard by finding and scoring them all already! Good job, Anon!
With several of our current staff members busy with real life, we need extra hands to welcome new players and ensure that the community's needs are taken care of. As such, depending on the replies I get, I'd like to add 3 to 4 new Helpers and 1 YouTube reporter to the server's staff.
As a reminder, the tasks of a helper are focused mostly on helping the players by answering questions, with a much smaller focus on special commands than ops. This includes:
Greeting the new p ...
Alright, folks - it's that time again! I'm giving everyone a heads up to gather supplies for an upcoming contest. Here's the basics; We're going to build a nether-city named Muncie. Building will not begin until Events night October 5th. The theme is city-scape, which means offices, businesses, apartments, sky scrapers, the whole nine yards are good to go. Everyone will be provided a 25x25 lot to build inside of, which they will own from bedrock floor to bedrock cieling ...
The map clean-up operation is complete, and the server is back to normal. You're free to resume playing!
Remember that this was done to prepare the arrival of 1.7 and it's new biomes. As such, I'm asking you to please not venture outside of the currently explored areas. Several regions have been protected against visitors, but others have not. I rely on you to make it easier for everyone!
Also note that, at the time of writing, the map is regenerating and won't be f ...
To prevent random thefts and make it easier for new players to adjust, chests placed from on now will all default to a private protection. This means that no one but the player creating them will be able to access them. To allow anyone to open / place / remove items, doing a /cremove command on them will be needed, possibly followed by a /cpublic.
Also new as of today is the ability to lock droppers and hoppers, much like how furnaces could already be protected. That way, people won' ...
In order to clarify the current set of rules and cover more situations, I've rewritten the set of rules. Please give them a quick read over to make sure you're familiar with them.
Most notable is the addition of rule #7, which I believe is needed after a few incidents. It goes as such:
No lagging devices: no devices that create a noticeable amount of lag or stress on the server are allowed. This includes but is not limited to heavy redstone mechanisms and large amounts of anima ...
I'd like to remind new and old players alike that Saturday nights are Events Night! Starting at 9pm Eastern time and lasting several hours, this special period features several attractions that can be enjoyed by yourself or as part of a group! To make things easier, there are a number of teleporters enabled all around the map for quick travel. Also, and only during those periods, no items or experience will be lost when dying. This makes it much easier to organize PvP matches!
Thanks to AshaLina's effort, the Creeper's Lab is now present on Instagram! Be sure to send her screenshots of the server and yours builds to be posted there, and follow the account to be posted on future updates!
Tumblr reminder
As a reminder, we're also on Tumblr among others. Tag the appropriate posts with "#creeper's lab", and I'll happily reblog them for all to see!
The server's migration is now complete. This update doesn't change the hardware category we were running on, but was required by my host to move to a more advanced control panel.
The server's IP address has changed! It is now:
192.210.229.66:25565
Those who keep direct links to the map will have to update them, as it is now located over at 192.210.229.66:8123. The map is currently regenerating and will be fully available later in the day.
Sphenicus has updated the Creeper's Lab resource pack today! The changes include a swapped record, a new painting and blaze turrets. If you've accepted the server resource pack suggestion, it will automatically update itself on your next login. Otherwise, grab it from the download page!
Don't forget that requests are considered, too. Read the FAQ at the bottom of the page for the details!

UPDATE on Dec. 8: The Christmas pack is now available in a Notato edition as well!
Last day of the year, and one last update to wrap things up! Here are a few things to note since our move to Minecraft 1.7.
Resource pack updates
A new resource pack update has been published today for the Standard and Notato editions. This fixes the lack of in-game music and features four new tracks for the game's title screen. Downloads are provided on the resource pack page. Those who accepted the server's recommendation should be prompted to update at their next login.
Hey, Creepers! Wind here with an important announcement. With the surprising popularity of the Creeper's LabCast on Events Night and a few smaller casts before and after, our LabCast will be moved to an official Creeper's Lab channel on Twitch TV! Until now, all streams have been hosted on my personal twitch account at http://www.twitch.tv/cedwards9 . I will continue to host forum casts and game streams for Minecraft and other games. However, the official Creeper's Lab Events ...
