Coneva has prepared a new activity for next Events Night, themed after this mining game of ours, which will put pickaxes to good use! As the title says, "thar be gold in dem hills!"... Quoting our showrunner:

The standard resource pack has been updated tonight by Sphenicus with a few new additions!

- Some new paintings!
- One replaced music disc!
- New sound effects!
- Improved cake taste!

If you have the pack set to be automatically downloaded, you'll get the updated version the next time you connect to the servers. Otherwise, you can download it and its addons, or get more information on all this, on the Resource Pack info page!

Last night's event took a bit of time to get started, but once things went underway, lots of fun and deaths happened... as we were hoping! Details below from Link, plus a Miranda-related PSA!

The season may be cold, but many of you showed good spirits in participating in the Christmas village contest last month! Once again, three judges went from entry to entry, scoring them from 0 to 10 and providing comments. Event: launch of the Games section!

Everyone is invited to join us next Events Night, this Saturday at 10pm Eastern time, for the launch of the Games section of the Creeper's Lab! You'll be able to see how it's all structured and play the first rounds of what will hopefully be many! A 1.9 playground: Nena

I'm adding a new toy tonight: a test 1.9 server, called Nena.

This is primarily a place for you to play around the new version while still being linked to the community, while I gradually work my way through addressing all issues related to the upgrade. There are many broken commands and several defective plugins at this point, which will gradually be fixed. On the positive side, you can already enjoy the basic gameplay and cross-server chat!

Parkour contest updates

Judging

Please note that the judging period for the parkour contest will take a bit longer than usual due to the preparations for our move to Minecraft 1.9 being done at the same time. Likewise, the additions of selected parkour courses to the Games section will happen only after the network has switched to the latest Minecraft version.

All survival servers have been successfully upgraded to 1.9, so please upgrade your game version and join us for new adventures! Servers updated to 1.9.2, Mu launched

All survival servers have been updated to 1.9.2! This new version is backwards compatible with 1.9, so you can either stay on the old version or switch your Minecraft client to use the latest. Jumping over to 1.9.2 is still recommended so you get the latest bug fixes!

Resource packs updated for 1.9

The resource packs have been updated for Minecraft 1.9! There are no changes within this time around, only the version number was increased so that the game no longer complains that the files are outdated.

If you don't want to redownload any packs, you don't need to: just confirm when Minecraft complains that the pack was made for an older version of the game, and it will work just fine.

We've moved over to the latest Minecraft version, 1.9.4, which is no longer compatible with 1.9 to 1.9.2. Be sure to switch your version number before trying to join! This bug fix release is expected to improve on a lot of the server slowdowns that people have experienced lately.

I've used this opportunity to increase the protection options to cover most of 1.9's additions. Most notably, it's now impossible to teleport using chorus fruits in teleportation-blocked areas ...

Another event is being scheduled for this Saturday, this time featuring elytra-based parkour (no relation with the previous news post)! axe_y has prepared a challenge for you, which will be split in two parts:

1- Actually find your way to the launcher, and sleep there.

I've upgraded the stats tracking plugin to the newest version yesterday, which involved rewriting a significant part of my own tracking code. As a side effect, it appears to have fixed some achievements targets that were broken while I wasn't aware. As such, the next time you go in-game, you might get a few surprise notifications. It's normal!

All were summoned to an island, and 16 of you answered the call. Taking control of an island, the goal was to take it then turn it into something else - with no given theme! This gave many a chance to put their own ideas into place instead of being limited to a few options.

Exodio is inviting everyone to a Block Party, hosted within the Residential District in Central! This will take place this Saturday at the beginning of Events Nights, 9pm Eastern time. The fun will begin at Exodio's place then spread out over the neighborhood. If you live nearby, you're encouraged to set up some display or attraction of your own. A few people have asked me about the results of the Monopoly game event, then I realized that I never did post them. My mistake!

Up to 12 players showed up to participate in the cutthroat world of finance, leading to an initial problem with cash flow. The Central Bank printed more money (hello inflation!), then the game got underway. Event: Ice boat racing!

You might be aware that, starting in Minecraft 1.9, boats can move at a surprisingly high speed when moving on ice.

To have some fun with this, Prima has built a racetrack around his base, and he's inviting everyone to come try it out! We'll hold a main race event first, where people will fight to be the first to complete a set of laps, then individual and versus competitions will be done for those interested.

We've tried racing before in many formats. We've got pigs with carrots on sticks in the dark ages. We've rode horses going in circles. We've used command blocks to give us speed bonuses. We've even used boats on ice (!?). The point is, we want to race. Yet, no method is perfect. The pigs never want to stay still. The horses don't have any speed bonuses. It lacks depth.

All Minecraft servers have been succesfully upgraded to 1.11, so update your game version today to continue your adventures with us! Please read on for some important changes.

Achievements fixes

Some of the achievements weren't working quite right when they were added. Some were identified and fixed quickly, while others took a bit longer. As of tonight, I've reviewed the list and can say that all of them should be running as expected. I had to change three of them to trigger properly; they now read as follows.
