New Jungles coming!
Started by Doctacosa on 19 January 2012 at 13:26
Jeb has posted today a screenshot of the upcoming jungle biome. Click on the picture to view it's full size!

Many trees in a tight pack, tons of vines that are supposed to be climbable, and even jungle animals are on the menu! I like how this one looks, it'll make exploration even more fun.

Those who were afraid to see changes to Minecraft stop since the 1.0 release was reached have been proven wrong. :)

New Bukkit staff joining Mojang
Good times ahead!
Started by Doctacosa on 28 February 2012 at 18:24
The news hit not long ago that the main Bukkit staff, the people making the Minecraft server software allowing mods, will be joining Mojang by becoming full-fledge employees!

This sounds like a very good thing to me as a server admin. One of the main weaknesses of the Bukkit project is the need for them to rewrite pretty much the entire thing for every game release. Now that they'll be working on an official, integrated API, this means that future Minecraft server and client updates ...

For a list of all updates - http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Version_history

But cropping it down...

We're looking at reproducing tamed wolves and NPCs, Iron Golems (who will beat you down if you punch an NPC) Tamable cats, ocelots, the jungle biome with climable vines and massive trees, Improved AI across the board, ZOMBIE SIEGES HOLY CRAP (Terraria anyone?)

Something I'm very excited about - Stairs and slabs can now be placed UPSIDE DOWN! This is big news for those of ...

New Fear for your lives!
Smarter mobs on the way!
Started by Doctacosa on 25 January 2012 at 18:21
Mojang hired an AI specialist some time back to open the door to smarter villagers and monsters. The monsters part seem to be going well, as the guy is now going through the mobs one by one to improve on their behavior.

Zombies are already done, and will probably be included in the update to 1.2. Instead of rushing blindly at you, they now do some pathfinding to go around obstacles and walls. Hiding behind a simple pillar won't be enough anymore! Skeletons are currently being worked ...

New Regrowing wool!
Coming up!
Started by Doctacosa on 2 December 2011 at 18:50
A few of you have been bugging me about this. Well, here's your answer!

Jeb_: Today I've fixed some redstone bugs, a powered rail bug and added wool regrowth to sheep. Now it's time to head home!

This will be included in 1.1. Patience, and we'll finally stop slaughtering sheep just to get more wool! :D

Hooray I guess

Also our server is like 1.9 Pre-release 5 or something so I don't actually know if it's safe to update if you want to play on the server.

New Locked Reminder: purchase now for a lower price!
Started by Doctacosa on 14 November 2011 at 14:33
If anyone is reading this and planning to purchase Minecraft eventually, you might want to do so this week: the game's price is currently 25% off, but that will only last up to the moment that it leaves beta on this Friday, the 18th.

There won't be any extra fee to cover the jump from beta to 1.0, so act soon!
