I like both, but I like cats better. They\'re easier to handle when they are mis-behaving, better for jumping in your lap, and don\'t...............do the thing some male dogs do....... :(

Except for the fact that they\'re not. My cat is mischievious, to be sure. But satanic? I think that\'s going a little far.

But yes, I did reword your post just to push your buttons. I\'ll plead guilty to that. I just dislike dogs in reality.

That was a tad sarcastic. However, I am not happy with the number of dead birds and wildlife I see scattered around, bearing all the signs of a cat-attack. I would be so annoyed it it was a starving cat that would die without food, but most of the time it isn\'t and the body of the animal remains relatively intact with the head lying inches away from it, with about three vertebre of the spine visible on the neck AND the head where the cat grabbed both ends and tore. Nice, huh?

No offense, but can we lock this \'cause I\'d rather not see anymore polls like this, it\'s too painful for me.

Hahahaha that\'s the same reason I posted about all my cats. We\'re bad. I guess Santa is going to give us coal. :o

And well Airman, you know...if humans would control the population of those cats, you wouldn\'t have to worry. And no I don\'t mean going out and murdering them.. I mean neutering and spaying them.

Besides, it\'s not cats that are birds\' enemies..it\'s other birds themselves. Like those fucking house sparrows we have in the US, they are very territorial, breed quickly, and take nesting sites away from our wonderful songbirds. Starlings are the same way, they breed very quickly and have very large flocks..eat all the food before the songbirds get to it. Our purple martin population is very low now, and I keep seeing fewer and fewer cardinals and bluejays every year. This isn\'t the cats fault at all. Those damn sparrows even chased the bat colony we have around here, to another location.

My uncle gets his fair share of dead animals..but they\'re usually voles, which are hazardous to his garden anyways, or mice..which of course are hazardous to the house. They also eat rabbits. And I love rabbits, but I wouldn\'t dare hate cats because of it. I know that it\'s lack of human responsibility that leads to things such as this.

Yea, as Hollow said before, cats shouldn\'t be the main reason why the bird population is going down. Other birds and wild animals (misplaced or not) have been killing birds and other small wildlife. Animals are acting odd year by year...

I remember my black Labrador. She would sometimes grab birds in mid flight (if they were low to the ground of course!) and kill them. No, she wasn\'t hungry and she would just leave them there (for us to bury). I guess it was some sort of game to her? ^^; Thankfully, that problem is over now. Not in a good way though...

In which case, the situation where you are is different from where I am. The house-sparrow poulation is decreasing. Also there was those dead blackbirds I saw and Hoppy the Thrush (she narrowly avoided a cat attack and only lost a leg. Unfortunately, it wasn\'t long before she was finished off).

There is often, however, something incredibly simple and inexpensive that will solve most of the problem. A bell. If you are letting your cat out and it has a bell on its coller, the birds should be forewarned that a cat is approaching and should fly away.

Yes, preditory birds do eat birds, but thats why. Because the birds eat the small birds. Cats don\'t.

Ironically, there seems to be a big preditory bird coming into this country which has been known to pick off lambs and cats. The birds will be eating the cats.

Personally, I can vouch for my cat, who\'s played peacefully with baby squirrells. He\'s never killed anything, apart from spiders and moths, and I don\'t think anyone cares about those.

Except that Chimaeras are always goats with a lion\'s head and a snake for a tail, or a lion with the heads of these three.
Lovely.

BTW, if it\'s about \"Which mythical creature would you like to have for a pet?\" I\'d say a Griffin. Or Hippogrif. Those rock. Really beautiful creatures, resembling power, courage and wisdom...
