Hey, it\'s perfectly normal when a boy says such things. It doesn\'t mean anyting.

Now, back on the subject: it can\'t hurt, can it? Besides, there\'s also a good side to it. One Jazzgroup once had an accident on Friday 13th and got to late at their concert, so... no time to practise! The song was instantly dubbed \'Friday 13th\'.

My 11th birthday as well. (I figured that when you turn 11, there\'s a big chance that day falls on the same day you were born. And of course, the same date. :o)

\"Believe\"? What am I supposed to believe in, besides the fact that it\'s considered to be unlucky? Black cats, broken mirrors and all that aren\'t always related to that day!

Let me further explain my post. I do believe in Friday the 13th to some extent. I don\'t believe that I will have anything out of the ordinary happen. But I do believe that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day for some, because they think so. Because they believe it, they get anxious. The high level of anxiety causes accidents and illnesses.

So in a sense, maybe unfortunate things will happen to me, but they will be because of someone else\'s anxiety with regards to the day in a sort of self-fufilling prophecy.

True. If you really believe something would happen, it would probably happen. I also think that everyday people has problems/bad luck. It is days like Friday the 13th, a day of a test/exam, an interview, or something that highlights and makes noticeable those common problems. Just because you stubbed your toe on the chair on Friday the 13th doesn\'t mean you have bad luck. It just means that you are clumsy, because probably a few days ago you tripped over something since you weren\'t looking. You most likely didn\'t call it bad luck then.

Other than what I just said, I sorta believe in Friday the 13th. It\'s just another day to make sure not to do anything foolish (although I would probably will). Sadly and oddly, my grandmother\'s funeral is tomorrow on Friday the 13th. Coincidence or something else? ^^;

But I believe in faeries more than Friday the 13th. B)

Well... not EXACTLY, but you hopefully get what I mean. Surely.

Today we had a test for chemics and we had to do a presentation for grammar class. Suh-key. But it was easy. >>

I think everybody should actually vote \'I do believe, but not that it brings bad luck, I just believe it exists, and you just can\'t argue with that\'.

Friday 13th is unlucky because 13 people sat down at the last supper on Good Friday (twelve deciples+Jesus).

Black cats aren\'t unlucky. It is lucky for a black cat to cross your path and leave you be (ie, not attack you or cast a spell on you)

Breaking a mirror is unlucky because when you look in a mirror, you see yourself. When you break a mirror, you are breaking an image of yourself.

Back on the subject of Christianity and Friday 13th, then, if Jesus died so that humanity would be saved from enernal damnation, shouldn\'t Friday 13th be lucky?

Er... maybe that\'s so, Samsara, but I think there are a lot of Christians who don\'t think it is unlucky... :P

I don\'t believe in Friday the 13th. When it comes around, we\'ll just skip that day and it will be Saturday the 14th. There is no such thing as Friday the 13th. The day I see a Friday the 13th is the day I\'ll....
... oh wait, it\'s today isn\'t it?

Superstition makes about as much sense as skinny dipping in your pool in January. THe whole point is just to freak you out. Except I wonder why is it I got the Flu today when I haven\'t been around anyone who has it?

The origin of the Friday the 13th superstition has been linked to the belief that there were 13 people at The Last Supper of Jesus, who was crucified on Good Friday, but it probably originated in medieval times. It has also been linked to the fact that a lunisolar calendar must have 13 months in some years, while the solar Gregorian calendar and lunar Islamic calendar always have 12 months in a year. Another suggestion is that the belief originated in a Norse myth about twelve gods having a feast in Valhalla. The mischievous Loki gate-crashed the party as an uninvited 13th guest and arranged for Hod, the blind god of darkness, to throw a branch of mistletoe at Balder, the god of joy and gladness. Balder was killed instantly and the Earth was plunged into darkness and mourning as a result. Both the first and last explanations, however, seem more relevant to the superstition linked to having 13 people at the same table during a meal.

The date is also well-known in the motorcycle (biker) community: since 1981, motorcycle enthusiasts and vendors gather every Friday the 13th in Port Dover, Ontario, Canada. This tradition started on November 13, 1981 by Chris Simons as a gathering of approximately 25 friends. The event has grown substantially, with an estimated 100,000 people attending in August 2004, as well as music bands, vendors, a bike show, etc.

In the Spanish-speaking world, it is Tuesday the 13th (as well as Tuesdays in general) that brings bad luck; a proverb runs En martes, ni te cases ni te embarques (on Tuesday, neither get married nor start a journey).
