I loved the game (it's a shame the graphics are bad though, but it's ok), I loved the movie. I sort of wish it was longer though... You only see a lot of the other characters for a very short time... FF7 and FF8 are my favorite Final Fantasy games so far even though I don't remember the storylines so well...it was so long ago. I plan to refresh my memory by playing it over the summer. I haven't played FF9 yet, so I wouldn't know...(but I want to...)

I finally saw the movie today. It was good, had some great parts, but I felt underwhelmed at the end. I was expecting something more, I guess.

First of all, there is way too much fighting. Once the final battle kicked in, I was mildly interested since they had all been fighting since the beginning. It would have been nice to have more plot development between some of the battles just to break the pace and to explain stuff a bit better. There's more to the world where all of this happens.

At some point, they should have killed a character or two. Everyone ended up exactly at the same point they started at, including Elena and Tseng who came back out of nowhere. It felt... cheap, somehow. Also, Cait Sith was completely useless, and didn't make sense either. How could Reeve still remotely control the thing after the Shinra headquarters were destroyed? And WHY would he still do that, instead of taking care of more important matters?

I liked how everything was over-the-top, though. It felt appropriate for a game where the powerful attacks are long and crazy to watch.

The soundtrack was especially nice, I think. I didn't expect more than a game remix or two, but the balance between remixes and new songs was just fine for what is really a sequel created to tie-in to the original as much as possible.

I enjoyed the whole thing, really. It could have been better by a good margin, but it's entertaining.

Oh, and that cellphone ringtone rocked. ^_-

I started at 4, too, and I think that FF9 was a crappy game. So there. :P The soundtrack was awful, among other things...

Advent Children was a good movie. Lots of action. I didn't like how the only person who really defeated anyone in a fight was Cloud. Kind of makes the whole party seems useless.

" This is Cloud's fight, he can handle it himself. Let's just sit here and watch and look important."

I was expecting more realistic fighting, but with all that Materia, I guess it kind of makes sense. But, I was under the impression that Cloud lost all of his Materia in the movie, after Loz defeated Tifa. And the movie itself seemed shorter then I had expected.

Here's a stupid thing that crossed my mind.

When Cloud fights Sephiroth, they both seem to fly around quite comfortably. If Cloud can fly, why does he need a motorcycle to get places? Unless, flying drains his MPs, in that case I think I could understand. Sephiroth seems to have infinite of it. But again, I thought Cloud didn't have any Materia at that point in the movie. And I didn't see him casting too many spells, nor were there any glowing orbs shown in his body like Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo did when the equipped/casted Materia.

Cloud's self-guilt made him ashamed of the source of his power, thus preventing flight. Once this was dealt with he used his power source to fly just like Sephiroth did.

What's the source? The hair. There's no way Sephiroth would go around looking like an ugly girl, and Cloud would go around looking like a porcupine dropped dead on his head unless there was some benefit.

At least that was the impression I got.

I suppose that I'm getting this related to my comment about Final Fantasy 9? So be it. I stand by my opinion, no matter what you think of it. :P

Maybe it was because you said Advent Children was good?

I have to admit, there is one part of the movie I absolutely loved: Sephiroth is kicking Cloud's ass, and then to get his revenge, he threatens Cloud by asking what's the most important thing to him. Cloud gets angry, yells that Sephiroth never understood that everthing is important, and then proceeds to overkill.

Yeah, it's that Mega X but mainly the FF9 thing. Sheesh, disliking a game because of the soundtrack..

But hey, I get to freely despise FF7 so I'm not saying Doc isn't allowed. I'm just saying his taste sucks. ;)

Maybe you're the one with crappy taste! Just kidding, FFIX rocks!

:D

The soundtrack was good. I thought alot of the various songs for FFIX sounded just like of the opening theme. If you can notice it.

Kuja's theme reminds me of the Shinra Headquarter's Theme, at least the beginning part.

I too, am another fan of Final Fantasy IX. It was my favorite in the series as of the last time I played it, but that was about five years ago now. I did not think it was the best, per se, I just really enjoyed it.

In general most FF's are all good RPGs though, even if overhyped. Which is a funny statement coming from me considering I used to be quite the FF fanboy, but I digress. The only entry I've completed in the series that I don't really care for is FF IV. I think it was good for it's time and I acknowledge it revolutionized the series, there's just alot of things I don't care for in it. *shrug*
