Nintendo said nothing of the sort about NEss ebing cut.
If your referring to the "Up Until Now" look at the dojo, Sakurai only speaks in present tense, IE, "Pokemon Trainer joins the Brawl"
That phrase makes it sound like PT was not a part of the game until he was revealed on the dojo, so "Up until now" has no relevancy.

Oh....the prophets, I thought you were referring to the Dojo with your example. =/
Even an interview in EGM with a localizer for the game stated that you'd have to play as all characters in the SSE though, so odds are you won't be able to play with one character throughout, again debunking this new Ridley rumor. =/

I don't know if anyone noticed this, but if you go to the assist trophy section of the site, any trophies that don't have a character in game, just have the smash symbol. An example is Devil, but if you go to say, Andross, he has the star fox symbol. As Samurai Goroh does in fact have the captain falcon symbol, this shows that captain falcon is pretty much 100% returning, if anyone doubted so.
