IF you're including the Charaters from SSBM, That makes Fire Emblem, Game and Watch, and I WOULD say Donkey Kong, but he seems to be being siphoned out as a playable character in more recent "party" games for Nintendo (ex: Mario Party 6). That leaves 3. You're also forgetting about Metal Gear Solid-- down to 2. While it may not be revealed yet, the amount of work that has to have gone into obtaining copyrights and whatnot has pretty much cemented his place, no? Assuming DK is in here (let's just say he is), that's 1. And that's probably something I forgot that can be deduced too.

Although Game and Watch and Ice Climbers ARE possible (Not to mention the others from SSBM), I doubt those jeuxfrance rumours came from the clear blue sky. They must have a source, or else why write it?

And Hollow---the only reason I assume there will be a giant rush of new characters is because of that huge poll they took on the Japanese site not too long ago, where Japanese readers sent in their own suggestions for characters and Sakurai commented on their suggestions. I just don't think he'd go to all that trouble if he only planned to add three or four characters.

Same here. I'd rather have, say, Black Mage or something rather than Spyro the Dragon. Although, I have to admit, having Snake put in is rather beastin. That's as far as I'd go, though. Custom Robo, maybe? Or some Elite Beat Agents?

Say what you will, I think that Sonic's got a good chance of getting in; for better or for worse. Of course I say that chiefly because of Mario & Sonic at the Olympics.

The best candidate for a new smasher, IMO, would be DeDeDe. He was a higher ranked character in the Japanese Poll, and since the Kirby series is Masahiro Sakurai's brain child....

The best suggestion I've seen is Rusl from Twilight Princess. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but that's why it's so brilliant.

Because he's supposed to be Link's mentor, who taught him everything he knows...Plus he has that kickass armor as an alternate costume possibility, and stylish open-toed sandals.

Needless to say, even though it probably wouldn't happen I'd like to see it.

Weird, Tom Nook is the biggest I've seen (Apart from Sonic, of course...>__>)



Honestly, my vote would go to Sora for a Third Party character. They wouldn't put him in though, since he'd blind people with his awesome. <___>

Although some people are complaining, I like the lack of highlights in Zelda's hair. It's an interesting new design overall.

Even though it probably doesn't matter canonically, I wonder if this means that there's no Shiek? Because only Ocarina Zelda transforms into her.

I hear that Zero-Suit Samus, being a light acrobatic type character, is supposed to replace Sheik.

Well, now that I think that makes a lot of sense. I guess we won't know until we see Zelda and Samus's special move set.

well... this is a combination of item and character.

the so-called Assist Trophies let's you summon a random Character. right now the Hammer Bros, a Nintedog and Samurai Goro ((i thought Goroh, and yes with a samurai sword) can come out of those trophies. they will work a bit like Pokéballs but with a wider range of characters. the characters are invincible but also unplayable.

i think that Ridley will appear in Brawl but not as a layable character, but as an Assist Trophy.

I'm ecstatic about the announcement of the Assist Trophies. That just means that we'll see practically every character with a niche following, if not for a few seconds at a time. I'm thinking Little Mac, Ike, Geno? And anyone who wasn't suitable as a playable character, but still a good idea.

Oh, and Rusl. Gotta love Rusl.

Geno probably won't be included because he's owned by Square.

It still means that a hell of alot of characters will be getting some facetime in the game, even if they're only assists.

There's already one third-party character in the game, what's stopping them from putting in more?

It's all wild speculation, but I still say Sonic has good chances. It's no secret that Sega and Nintendo are on good terms, what with the announcement of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. And he has been featured on Nintendo's consoles more times than I care to count. So, my view is: Who else would they include besides? (Well, aside from Megaman of course. ;))

As a side-note; they've all but confirmed Captain Falcon as a returning character. Notice on the update for Samurai Goroh's assist tropy, that the emblem for that news post is the Blue Falcon/Falcon's logo? They wouldn't give F-Zero its own emblem if there wasn't a character from it on the game's actual roster, now would they?

I like how they gave Bowse a more "cartoony" look for Brawl than compared to Melee's design. The "almost- realistic" look from Melee never really interested me.
