People are stupid in America, what can I say? They'd rather take someone to court than teach their children. Everyone on my Myspace friends list is a very close, personal friend of mine. I've met each of their mothers and have had dinner over at their houses.

I must know the person very well before they are on my friends list!

People need to learn how to think.

I'm older school than you are.

Anyone as a dumbass as her deserved to be sexed up, or whatever happened to her. She shouldn't have given out personal information to anyone she didn't know in real life.

Well, here's me taking a stab at it.

All right, well society doesn't consider an individual to be an adult until they're 18. Mainly because people under that age are considered to not be mature enough to make full and rational decisions. Now, MySpace didn't take adequate steps to prevent this, but at the same time allows people under the age of 18 to register. This presents a sort of problem, doesn't it?

You could say that the child is responsible, but if you have a baby that sticks his hand to the side of a barbeque in use, would you say the child is responsible? No? Why not? Is it because the baby is not mature enough to make a rational decision? Exactly, but who would you hold responsible? Most likely the parent, or rational adult in the immediate area.

Well that's what happened here. Somebody who isn't mature enough to make rational decisions made a bad one and the rational adult on duty didn't do their share to prevent it.

And there's yer Devil's Advocate.

That's not really being the Devils Advocate X, you still could not find a way to take the girls side in this situation. There is no excuse to allow this girl to get 30 MILLION because she didn't read the TOS that state in rule 6 under the Prohibited Content/Activity section that Prohibited Content includes, but is not limited to Content that; 6 persons who provide any telephone numbers, street addresses, last names, URLs or email addresses;

She broke the Ters of servivce when she gave that boy her phone number so myspace is not in anyway responsible for what has happened. the only person who SHOULD be held responsible is this childs parents for not keeping an eye on what this girl is doing.

I think that's about as close as you can get to being Devil's Advocate without getting batshit insane. Hell, it is not an easy position to argue. Anyway I think I "proved" that MySpace could be seen to be partially at fault.

I mean you could say that it was the fault of MySpace, because they allow people under 18 to have the service and still have minimal services to protect them.

EDIT: Wait a second, that's part of the ToS? Oh, well then there really isn't an argument at all. I mean, breaking the ToS voids your right to pretty much anything.

Ya know I thought about making a topic just for this jackass, but you know what I already have one Myspace topic so I'll just add this

A Jacksonville man says he was duped and robbed by two girls after attempting to meet with a woman he met on the internet.

The victim says he chatted online with a woman, known on her MySpace.com profile as “Natalia”, for two weeks before deciding to meet with her. He says her prfile showed sexy photos, and a blurb which said “just lookin’ for something fun”. That brief, friendly description was all he knew about her before they planned to meet.

"She sent me a message saying she thought she met me somewhere," says the victim.

They decided to meet at what she called her home at the Bentley Green Apartments.

“I went to [the apartment] and knocked on the door, and there was no answer. So I called her and said, ‘I'm here’ and there was no answer."

That is when two girls who were 14 and 15-years-old, approached him saying they knew Natalia, the girl he thought he'd be meeting. They also said they knew where he worked at what car he drove.

"This was not the girl that the picture was of on MySpace," the victim said.

Now sensing something was wrong, he was ready to take off, but was stopped by a shocking discovery.

"[One of the girls] took [a] gun out and put it to my head and told me to empty my pockets."

The girls didn't get much because the victim had forgotten his wallet. They let him go, unharmed, and he called police.

Police did a search of the area and found the two teens with another male suspect. They searched a purse and found two loaded handguns.

Myspace.com may have been developed for friends and music, but this victim had to find out the hard way that not everyone is logging on for the right reasons.

The so-called Natalia did tell the victim that she was 18, so he was shocked to learn he was actually talking to a 14-year-old. He says he has since removed personal information from his MySpace profile, like his salary and the kind of car that he drives.

Those teenagers are now charged with armed robbery and carrying a concealed firearm.

On the subject of the other incident, though, I've heared about that. It's quite funny, if you disregard the seriousness of it: he could have been shot, easily.
