Because you'd end up with 11 games, of course. :P

I don't think that I'll try... Picking 30 games is difficult, and I would probably forget about a gem or two.

I really loved that game (mainly because of it's music ^^; ) but it seems to be hard to find now (which makes sense since it came out right about the same time the Playstation made its debut on the market). On Ebay, I could get it for about $15 though... I brought Croc 2 to replace my empty Croc craving one day. Yuck... Stay away from that game. Not very fun. B/

Saiyanprince, you do know you suppose to post 30 games, right? Anybody could post just 14...

25. Mega Man X
26. Final Fantasy V
27. Super Metroid
28. Onimusha
29. Sonic Adventure
30. DragonQuest VIII(only played about half of the series though :/)

This is just what I thought of right now, it might not be terribly accurate for reasons like that Doc mentioned. The only three that are really cement on the list and their position are the first three. There are alot of games that I left out that I really, really, really like because I wanted to include a fairly broad base of games. So some, like the NES Megaman games didn't really make it, though I love all of them.. :/

In no particular order. Bolded to represent games that I think people should pay more attention to. And these are among games that I have played, so don't be surprised that things like Final Fantasy Tactics didn't make the list.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS)
Final Fantasy V (SNES, NOT PS)
Final Fantasy VI (SNES)
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Cave Story (Win PC)
Mega Man 6 (NES)
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (GBA)
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA)
Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse (NES)
Mega Man X (SNES)
Super Mario World (SNES)
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (SNES)
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (originally Super Mario World 3) (SNES)
The Legend of Zelda: a Link to the Past (SNES)
Metroid Zero Mission (GBA)
Metroid Fusion (GBA)
Super Metroid (SNES)
Pokemon GSC (GBC)
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GBA)
Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins (GB)
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (SNES)
Donkey Kong (GB, 1994 expanded edition)
Hocus Pocus (DOS PC)

Okay, that's all I'm going to put down. That's 24 of them.

If you want a closer number, I'll give ya Mega Man X2 (SNES) for quirks and Mega Man X3 (SNES, NOT PS) and Ecoquest: the Search for Cetus (DOS PC) for music.

See, I would have put SotN on my list, but that game has NO replay value and is as boring as playing Pong (no offense to Pong fans). And Pokemon Crystal as well, but I wondered..do I REALLY like Pokemon that much? I decided no, I didn't.

I find it interesting that replay value tends to be one of the things I care about least. Not sure why, but it might be related to the fact that I only really have time to experience something once.

I was willing to play through Cave Story twice to get the good ending, but yeah, exploration games are easily "exhausted". Then again, so are story-oriented RPGs, and SMB/MM-type platformers, and even adventure games. Even for Castlevania Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, having multiple paths makes for only a handful of playthroughs.

The only games which can really afford replay value are (1) those in which you can vary a significant portion of the gameplay in many (not few, but many) ways, and (2) competitive games. In the first category, we have various games like Risk, Pokémon, and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance; in the second category, we have various games like Super Mario Kart and Counter-strike. Pretty much all other games become boring if you play them a few more times within a short period (say a week or two).

And my enjoyment of a game comes from the fun value as I play through it, and I very rarely replay games (except for those of the second type, such as the boss rush modes of Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow). So yeah, I guess, difference of priorities.

Okay, okay, I'm not a "gamer". At least, not hardcore.

A definitive list is sort of hard for me, I've wasted about 3 consecutive years playing videogames. My tastes vary a lot, especially over all these years. So here's the list, for now, with the most "For sure" in bold.

Day of the Tentacle (DOS
Sid and Al (DOS)
Rockstar (DOS)
Resident Evil: Code Veronica (DC)
Jet Grind Radio (DC)
Phantasy Star Online (DC)
Excitebike (NES)(I remember wasting countless hours on this game as a tot.)
Star Fox (SNES)
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)
Super Smash Brothers Melee (GCN)
Beyond Good and Evil (GCN)
Baten Kaitos (GCN)
Eternal Darkness (GCN)
Megaman X (SNES)
Dance Dance Revolution Extreme 2 (PS2)
Tales of Symphonia (GCN)
Shadowman (DC)
Crazy Taxi (DC)
Killer 7 (GCN)
F.E.A.R. (PC)
Half Life (PC)
Half Life 2 (PC)
Skate or Die (ARCADE)
Megaman Legends (PS1)
Metal Gear Solid (PS1)
The House of the Dead 2 (DC)
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Illusion of Gaia (SNES)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1)
Illbleed (DC)

As you can see, a pretty accurate list. There's quite a few I'm missing. Like Yoshi. God that game was awesome. And Maniac Mansion.

On a completely somewhat related side note: Hollow, I play SOTN all the time. Replay value may be lacking...but there's nothing like starting that game over again from scratch. It's a beautiful thing.

[EDIT]: Whoops! Megaman X is for the SNES.

Reality swirled in a wholly blue manner, revealing absolutely nothing of merit. Things flashed madly in and out of existence like some entirely other sort of phenomena. On a whim, Kurt Vonnegut imploded, taking a sizeable hunk of Massachusetts with him. However, seeing as Massachusetts wasn't entirely sure it existed, the chunk wasn't all that big.

Okay, okay, I'm not a "gamer". At least, not hardcore.

At least you admit it.

And at least you agree it has no replay value, Phat.

I don't see how oldschool Mario for example can be played over and over, but these new CV games get boring very quickly. I guess it's because Mario is somewhat challenging.

Well yeah, I mean, you beat it, and you go to pick it up again...and you kind of like, know where everything is..pick it up a while after that though and it's pure magic. Entertaining, but no replay value, kind of like a roller coaster. :P

More like CV has very little to do with strategy, except for boss battles. In Mario you need to actually plan out your attack beforehand so you don't get your ass handed to you. That and it's a lot of reflexes which is never a bad thing.
