Alright so this is the deal, I was browsing about an hour ago, and I decided I should do a virus scan because it's been months. So I go to open up Ad-Aware-SE personal edition, and it scans for about 45 seconds, then stops responding and forces me to end the task, all of my other programs (Spybot, WIndows defender, etc.) work fine, so does anyone know what the hell is going on?

I've had that happen to me before. Iono what causes it, but uninstalling and reinstalling it usually fixes the problem. At least it does for me.

Most likely, from what you say anyway...you -might- have another program that conflicts with Ad-Aware, causing it to operate incorrectly.

It's usually not good to have a ton of virus/spyware removing programs...

All I ever hear about having many antivirus and antispyware programs are that most of them are adware... I just stick with Norton, Ad-Aware, CCleaner, and BigFix. Those are the ones I know are safe programs to use.

Well, I know it's not good to have tons of virus removing programs, but maybe the spyware ones are alright.

Still, I just think Hijack, Spybot, and Ad-aware are all you need spyware-wise. And good ol NoScript and Adblock on Firefox. ;P

Alright, I just did a virus scan with two other ones I have, Windows Defender, and Spybot search and destroy, I picked up two viruses that were related to the windows security system, and not Ad-Aware, it never did this crap before to clarify things, and I still had all of the programs installed on here then.

First of all if you have a computer that could even remotely be considered a piece of crap, it will do that. Because Ad-Aware uses that "new" style where everything is roundish and if it was a site a lot of aspects of it would be in FLASH (but without movies). Ad-Aware usually did freeze my computer, but I guarantee you my computer was more crap then your computer could ever be.

Anyway, spekaing of Ad-Aware, I read somewhere that the unregistered version of Ad-Aware supposedly installs a few unwanted things on your computer each time it runs, just to make sure you keep using it and possibly decide you might want to purchase the upgrade version. I did, however, hear it from somebody who can't type with capital letters or use the word "you." Anybody know if there's any truth to that?
