I loved the book as well. The movie should be good, but it already has some flaws. Like character appearances. Arya and Eragon are both blond, though the book clearly states that they have dark hair, and Brom doesn't have a beard. Plus, they show Galbatorix in the movie. We never see him in the book, not ONCE. So yeah, if cinematics doesn't go totally overboard, it should be a very good movie.

Of course there will never be a movie that follows the book EXACTLY. Look at Harry Potter, look at Lord of the Rings, jeez, were these exactly like the books? No. Besides, if the movie doesn't show Galbatorix meeting with Eragon, it should be good, no? It may just be images from the past, just like in Lord of the Rings, with Sauron having his fingers cut off by Isildur. Also, "silver" is often used to refer to the hair colour of an elderly person. It just sounds better than "gray", but it means the same.

Now on to my own personal reaction:

*ahum*

WOOYEAH! I WAS WAITING FOR THIS EVER SINCE FINISHING THE FIRST BOOK! BOOYA! :D

w00t! I say a preview for it yesterday and I jumped up and danced! It was awesome! lol

But no, I really, really, really, really, really.. *takes breath* really, really hope they don't screw this movie up! Make it follow the book! That's my only concern.. loved both books, but if they screw up the movie.. someone's gonna die!! lol

I don't mind if they wander away from the original story just a little, they should just not do it too far and too much. Change of eye colour or Saphira's wing span, or the pointyness of elf ears is forbidden, of course. =P JK

Although the way I saw Saphira I did not liked the way she looked of cousre her looks might change throughout in the movie. I wonder when the third book will be out?

Just judging by commercials I know this movie is going to be great. I wonder if they will make it 3 hours long like Lord Of Rings.

I've seen the movie, and they did a terrible job. >.< They ruined all of my favorite characters and left out key characters that are necessary for the second book. This is definately NOT the book I fell in love with. Morons... THEY MUST ALL DIE!!!

Right now, everyone's so appalled by how bad the movie is compared to the book, I'm kinda glad I haven't read the book... It gave me leeway to enjoy the movie even if it sucked compared to the book. And now that I've enjoyed the movie (It wasn't great- but it was fun to watch) now I can go read the book and see just how awesome it's really supposed to be, lol.

I neither read the book nor watched the movie.

So I win either way.

I've read the book, but I don't much care if the movie doesn't stick to the original story. I would only find it too bad.

I don't recall much of anything ever going by the book...Take LOTR for example...

They didn't show many of characters in that either, especially the 'Brown Wizard' who supposabley helped defeat those trolls, and then died.

I never expected the movie to go by the book, the fact that they're trying to make it better then the book is interesting enough, that and at the end they left it completely open for the next movie.

I havn't seen the movie, but a couple of my friends have. I heard from them that it's a good movie, but it's so different from the book that it sucked because of that. I read somwhere that the elves don't have pointy ears and that the dwarfs are tall...Is this true, because if it is thats freaking insane!

Yes, it's true. >.< The character personalities are also way off. Arya and Murtagh are both very different from the book. They're both too smiley, and Arya is flirting with Eragon on a few occasions. Not only that, but they turned her into this damsel in distress type character, which, if you know Arya, is so off that it isn't even funny.

You know what's hilarious about this?

If it's true that the movie is nothing like book, then you should just stab the writer in the face because he approved it and LOVES it.

That just goes to show you that the writer doesn't have experience with Hollywood. Or the real world.

My friend Stephen seems to belive that if they made the LotR movies comepletly accurate, they would have been longer then they are.

But he still seems to think they're pretty accurate.

I don't know, because I never got past the first book (pages were missing so I purposely didn't go on).

Yes, that's true about Lord of the Rings- if they had been completely accurate, they would have been VERY long. They did a decently good job on the accuracy, (better than most book-to-movie transitions) but they left out a LOT.

I'll have to read Eregon myself to see how far short the movie fell.

Man, I tried reading the first Lord of the Rings book after watching the first movie, and a lot of it is boring exposition crap.
