Was looking around and I found this.

A Wii-bit too late.

Again, not sure how many Wiis those stores have in stock, but judging from the Wal-Mart experience, there are probably more people in line than there are Wiis available.

So, what. Wii shortages across the US now too?

What's sad is that, Nintendo was boasting about 6 million units, and its been one day and they already have shortages.

They had sold over 500,000 units by 4:30, which surprised me...especially since they had boasted that everyone who wanted one, would get one.

Include Canada as well. I failed to get a system yesterday, after checking on 19+ stores in the morning. I don't do pre-orders unless I have a really good reason to (such as the Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin bonus), and I supposed that I would just visit the nearest store and grab a system. I did purchase an extra controller and Rayman: Raving Rabbids, so I'll be ready to play for sure whenever I find the console itself. I expect to get one in two or three weeks, once stores have received the second shipment.

That's okay, check out this picture I snapped in New York City Saturday night when I was there...

Yeah. All of those people? That's a LINE. In front of Toys-R-Us. There was a countdown to the Wii launch, and it was crazy. ...We bypassed going there, to say the least.

On the other hand, back in my little rural hometown, which is seven hours away from there, there doesn't seem to be a shortage at all. The game store my fiance and I go to had seven preorders for the Wii, and we simply walked in and picked ours up. We're playing Twilight Princess right now! =3 I guess it really depends on your area as to shortages and crap. Interesting.

Whoa, that's awesome.

I assume that yes, stores got an equal amount..and naturally some places will sell out quicker than others.

I'm glad to hear they're selling out so fast.

Ehhh, I don't think I'll be getting a Wii any time soon. Ohwell, I got plenty of other stuff to do, like FFIII DS. I really wanna play Twiilight Princess though......

I actually rode around with a friend looking for a Wii today. We went to three different stores and got radically different stories at each.

At Circuit City we were told that they get shipments in every Wednesday but todays shipment had none in it. We were also told that they have no control over, nor any idea when Wiis will be in the weekly shipments.

At Best Buy we were greeted with the funniest news of the day; they told us that they were sold out of Wiis but had a healthy stock of PS3s. I guess that people care more about their wallets than fancy graphics after all D=

Finally, at EB Games, we were given news of an upcoming shipment. The guy told us that a shipment will arive Friday morning and we were welcome to camp out and buy one when the store opens at 7 am. Given that it has been constantly below 40* F here for the past week and a half I will not be doing this. My friend, however, will arrive around 5 to 5:30 am and wait. He's a large fellow, he should be fine.

Like Ri, my friends and I just preordered it and picked it up during the first or second shipments. It was at Gamestop and I got mine second shipment. They come in like once or twice a week now. Then again I knew one of the employees and I threatened to slash his tires if he didn't put me on the top of the preorder list XP! I must say, Twilight Princess is pretty cool though.

I waited at Wal-Mart beginning the Friday before at 8:00PM.

28 hours, first one in line, and I got to wear my Toad costume all day (giant polka-dot hat and all!). Then (in that awesome suit), I got to hold up the first Wii sold st the store at 12:00 midnight. It felt SOOOOOO cool!

You know how Toad has that blue vest? Well, when I was sitting inside (where I began and spent the night Friday - right in front of the Electronics counter) and going on bathroom breaks, in total I was mistaken for a Wal-Mart employee by 11 people on about 10 occasions. Add to that that one little boy thought I was a promotional guy: "Are you here to give away free stuff?" It almost broke my heart to have to frown in such a happy kind of suit and say "Nope, I'm with the rest of these peolple."

Also, so many people came asking us what we were here for when they took the line outside, so my mom and a lady behind us worked up a prank answer. When a man asked, the lady said: "We're here for a religious convention, and he's our leader," pointing to me in my Toad hat and suit. That guy ran away so fast... what memories...

No shortages here. Plenty of Wiis, PS3, and 360s. But if you are looking for Gameboy Micros, you might have a tough time getting one. Now that's weird...

Well, I woke up and was the seventh in line at my gamestop last week, only to discover they got a total of 6 wiis. Take a guess how my language shifted then...

I've been trying to get a Wii for the last two weeks now, and no luck so far. I keep an eye out for the PS3 out of curiosity, and I didn't see any either. The GameBoy Micro is easy to find, though!

I'm guessing it's cheaper than buying a TV console. It also doesn't help that the local ToysRus were selling GBMs for $34 on Black Friday and so other stores had to, somewhat, follow suit. ^^;

I'm kicking myself for buying Twilight Princess for Cube on the Internet for $54. There are still a lot of copies of the game on the Wii at many stores here. B/

Well, I've officialy failed to secure a Wii in a decent amount of time: this afternoon, I visited a store that was out of Wii consoles (as always), but they did have several PS3s in stock! It was the 60 Gb model (!), and there was no rush of people waiting to buy those. The staff member even said that they couldn't fit all the consoles they had on the shelves... It's a shame that I wasn't looking for it, else I'd be playing my next-gen console today!

If you'd asked me two months ago, I would never have said that I could find a PS3 before a Wii after both launches! To anyone who needed a confirmation that the hardware kept selling like crazy, this is your proof.

I know when it's getting really close to Christmas when everything is getting sold out. Heck, even the pink DS systems are about to be sold out too. ^^;

I suppose I should have gotten a Wii or a PS3 just to sell. I know people wouldn't mind buying the systems at least $100-50 dollars more if they can't find it anywhere... That's what you should do, Doctor, buy a PS3 and sell it on eBay. If there's not a shortage there, there's a shortage in other places.

*frustrated* I should have known this was going to happen. Now I'll have to wait for the next big console release in 10 years...! >_<

Friend of mine bought a PS3 off ebay, for almost 900$.

Ended up it was a defected console, plus fingerprints all over too, and she didnt all send what she said she'd send.

So...no, I wouldn't trust eBay, even if it was a good sell.

And she had alot of positive feedback too, so this kinda killed her.

I was lucky enough to a a Wii on launch day, with Twilight Princess and an set of controllers (nunchuck and remote comobo). I also got Red Steel, which was a disappointment. However, Zelda is worth the purchase price of the Wii alone. It truely may be the best Zelda yet, I'm not 100% sure yet because I havn't finished it. Anyway I had to wait in line out in front of a Circuit City for 16 hours, I happend to be first in line. It was about 38degrees when I got in line but at around five in the morning it was quite a bit colder, I'd estimate around 30ish. I was wishing I'd dressed better for the occasion by the end of it, my legs got so numb from cold I couldn't feel them at all. Anyways, it was worth it in the end, I got one.

I'm a Mega Man nut... I own them all, and have them in a lighted display case to boot.
(Excluding the Battlenetwork series...which I detest.)

Not anymore, nope. Try looking on eBay for the relative prices for both the PS3 and the Wii. Both PS3 models are now selling for about the same as their respective retail prices, so the idea of pulling a huge profit is definitely out of the question. However, the Wii still sells for close to the double of the store price! This is another proof that the console really is sought after by several people. That PS3 price point is strange, for an item still difficult to find...

Whats weird is, Wal-mart here, and several other stores were selling PS3's about the same price of a 360. Around 300-380.

I thought that was interesting.

US? Lol, live in AL. They put them on clearance for someone reason, even though they were sold out, the price tag literally said "369" for the PS3.

They weren't sold as Sony said they would be, which amused me. I went around asking others who went to do their Christmas shopping back in after Thanksgiving, and up from then. They said it's been about the same. Really odd'.

Wow. Wii is crazy. I'm happy for Nintendo. I don't think I'll be getting one anytime soon. Too crazy, what with the constant shortages. The Wal-Mart I go to only gets around 10 units of the console. I haven't really checked anywhere else for it but, whatev. Not really too concerned.

I live in Canada, BTW.

Personally, I'm just fine with my GC version of Twilight Princess, which is really the only promising looking game for the Wii as of now, IMO.
