First, assume I'm plying Red Sun (which I do more than Blue Moon).

Now, it's said inthe game that there was also a second tournament, Blue Moon, to determine a second capable operator to aid in the meteor mission from the ground. Perhaps after fulfilling his/her initial duty, the other champ went ahead and tried to hijack the meteor for their own purposes instead? Think about it - Duo's obviously not with Nebula - he wants to TERMINATE evil, not promote it. And he is a NetNavi. Where else could he come from?

It's a really far-fetched idea, but the the thought just it me and I had to say something.

Nothing says that Duo is a NetNavi. He's a program, sure, but he doesn't seem to fit the usual NetNavi description to me.

I think so in MM8, but BN4 did a real sucky job of giving him any background whatsoever. He was to be kind of a universal judge, so I guess he was from space. But where in space did he come from?

Doc: I guess it depends on how you'd define NetNavi. I'd say any program that has its own conscious, free-thinking soul. Duo fits that, and I bet he's another human-withdrawn Navi, like Bass.

It could be that Duo is a Navi, but just a really big and beefed-up one.

Your definition doesn't work: Zero, in Network Transmission, fits the bill, and yet he was nothing more than a virus until his program was "repaired".

I don't know, I assumed it was simply one of the navi operators you didn't battle. Taking your example, I would assume the victor of Blue Moon Tournament would be either Protoman or Junkman, and since Junkman doesn't have an actual operator, I'd assume Chaud won that. I would say that Searchman's operator (his name escapes me) won the Red Sun if you were in Blue Moon, because... well... I don't think that the other guy would like the cold? It just makes more logical sense to me that Searchman's operator would handle that.

Okay, If anyone payed attention to the game dialogue, it clearly says that Duo is an ADVANCED A.I. from outer-space, He was created long ago for the sole purpose of destroying evil in the universe. Thats all there is to it, other than that we don't know who created him, and if there was any "OTHER" purpose, like maybe First Contact with an alien race (which in this case is humans). Maybe the whole destroy all evil thing, was the Duo A.I. going haywire?, we may never know.

Yeah, that too. Duo was never potentially a navi for the opposing tournament's winner, unless you were high, stoned, drunk, and pregnant when you played the game. Capcom would have made it way more obvious.

I guess in a world that evolves from the Internet to radios is gonna have super-advanced AIs being built long before the simplest NetNavi, huh?
