I was fooling around today and found out that sega and the compony that gave us rouge squadren (star wars) and the up comeing game lair have desided to make a sonic rpg.Fans have already started to rant about it saying sonic is not an rpg type!

And if it DOES bomb, no one will be surprised, seeing how most people consider the latest games to be total disasters.

As far as I'm concerned, this will be Sonic's redeeming game.
Give BioWare, the makers of KOTOR, a blank franchise to do whatever they please with? And put the RPG they throw together on the DS? Sounds too perfect to me. No way BioWare would mess up.
i played Jade Empire on te Xbox which was made by the same company. BioWare
i'm not too worried about the game mechanics, i'm more worried how they are going to put Sonic into it. Sonic doesn't have that much material to make an RPG. (actually the same as with Mario RPG, which wasn't made by Nintendo, but still worked out pretty good)
this also gives them the chance put a lot of new characters in the sonic universe or even bring back old ones. (Mighty, anyone?)
time will tell.
I wanna see a KOTOR style game engine in here, that would be flippin' sweet. But if it blows, well, whatever, I hate Sonic immensely anymore.

Ill buy it if it has no turn base or kingdom hearts type of fighting.
I dunno. I think the timing might be abit off for this game. Understandably it's not as if developers can go back in time and release it a few years ago but this would have made more sense a few years ago when Sonic was more popular. The series needs a good release to help restore some credibility to it and RPG's don't exactly deliver the kind of gameplay the series became famous for.
Bearing that, that has nothing to do with the actual game itself. Time will tell whether it's good or not.

KOTOR = Not Sonic game. Evar.
However, a turn based system similar to FFXII or something like Chrono Cross or Tales of Symphonia, now that would work.

An action game like the Sonic series deserves an action-based battle system, indeed. Personally, I'd love to see a battle system like the one they used for Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga.

Worried about this game? No. It's probably too far in developpement for much to be changed at this point. However, I am worried about the future titles to be announced. EA have a reputation of ripping apart the groups they purchase after a few years...

OfflineI dunno. BioWare is a giant of the industry. I have my doubts that they can be ripped apart so easily.

New info lifted from a post on NeoGAF. The game is apparently called Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.
