I apologize sincerely if there is already another topic about this, but I was unable to find one.

Which video game do you think has the best overall soundtrack. Not just one song you like, but the entire game is filled to the brim and overflowing with excellent and fitting music. I'm sure theres a bunch I'm forgetting, but out of everything I've played recently, Super Mario Galaxy has one of the best game soundtracks I've heard in a long time.

I'm probably going to get alot of disagreement with this, but, I really did enjoy Halo 3's soundtrack. A 70+ piece orchestra performing so superb is a best in my book.

I can't say anything else, as I havn't heard any other good soundtracks in games lately. I don't have a Wii, so I can't say anything for the Super Mario Galaxy.

I enjoyed the Lunar COMPLETE, Lunar 2 COMPLETE, Ace Combat Zero, and Wind Waker soundtracks.

I concur with you in this one. I really enjoyed Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask a lot too though.

I am very surprised that no one has mentioned Guitar Hero/Rock Band, D.D.R., or any skating etc. games.

(I am not saying these are mine 'cause I haven't played any of them except for D.D.R.)

No ones said those because they're not OST's. They were already songs, we mean Game soundtracks made from scratch. I don't think any Mario song was in Guitar Hero, or DDR. So, that verifies the basis of this topic.

While what god mentioned isn't exactly what I was thinking, it does in fact fall under this topic. So there fair game, but yes Dr. Light, I was thinking more OST.

I'll agree with Smirnoff on BioShock. There's something indescribable about the juxtaposition of crazed, corrupted gene splicers and peppy 40's-50's big band music. Shooting someone in the face with a shotgun while Papa Loves Mambo plays on a distant phonograph? lovely.

I declare my previous statement about super mario galaxy null and void. My new favorite soundtrack is brawl. Even though most of Brawl's tracks do come from other games, it has the GREATEST soundtrack that could ever possibly be. Without a doubt.

You know, it's hard to pick one great game soundtrack. I think Ace made me realize this. A soundtrack should fit with the game its... soundtracking... ^^; I can say that some games may not have music that you would want to hear on your MP3 Player or car CD player all the time, but when playing that game, it fits and is perfect.

I can say that about Final Fantasy 7. Sure, I like a few of the tracks, but most of it, I don't particularly love so much that I need it on my MySpace or something. But when I'm playing the game, they work perfectly into the mood I am in. And because of that, I would say Final Fantasy 7 (or any other game with fitting music for its content) is a great game soundtrack. I hope that makes sense. ^^;

And that's why I think that you, Ace, like Brawl's music because they must have taken all the best music from all those games and smashed (...a pun... I'm corny, huh? XP ) them all into one soundtrack. I don't know if I would like it though. I kinda like my soundtracks to have a connection between tracks. Having different music from different sources sounds like a Frankenstein monster to me...

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is always an excellent choice.

Thanks to the recent release of "Castlevania X: Chronicles" for the PSP, more of you should know about it. They included a port of Symphony as an unlockable bonus! (Voices and script were changed, much to my dismay, but otherwise...)

Castlevania OSTs are ALWAYS good! I hear Doc's got the official PoR Box set with two CDs with Castlevania-y goodness inside!.... Which I promptly pirated elsewhere.

Personal fave...? You ask the impossible... Currently somewhere in the realms of EarthBound/Mother 3/SSBB, but will change in time.

I dunno if I've posted in this topic before but like usual my sentiments are shared with Necro

But I also like anything with organ music in it, BoF 2, Phoenix Wright, some Castlevania crap

Brawl's music was a letdown
