And onto the next...

I recently had a thought, what if, video games of today, that are made for Xbox and Playstation, were to be converted into 8-bit or 16-bit graphics. Would they still be enjoyable?

Weren't you supposed to talk about your own instance of déjà vu?

Most games would, of course, as long as they don't rely on graphics too much. Artsy games like Murasama: The Demon Blade or Okamiden would suffer from a downgrade since their stylish visuals would be watered down. MMORPGs wouldn't scale down gracefully either: it's technically impossible on an 8-bits or 16-bits system to display the amount of sprites required for such a game to be any kind of fun.

Beyond those limitations, as long as the core of a game's concept is solid, I don't have any problem with that. With that said, I don't believe that older games were automatically better because of those limitations, as some people seem to believe. I find modern games with a classic design such as Mega Man X8 and Sonic 4 to be as playable as their older counterparts.

*Weren't you supposed to talk about your own instance of déjà vu?* DOH...!?

I remember a few instances, one time when I was a kid. I was playing with my sister and a neighbor at the neighbors front yard. We were playing 'Smeer the Queer' game. I evaded my sister, spun through the neighbor. Seemed like I did the moves twice, when I asked them about it, they said I only did it once. Major Case of Deja Vu.

It has always been stuck with me since.

The purpose behind that discussion, but as for this new one...

I could actually see the Halo games, taking on Doom graphics and perhaps, game mechanics.

In general though, I agree with you Doc. Most games of today, would not look good in older styles. But, there are some that it could actually work. The new Super Mario games, the ones on the Wii System, that look like Super Mario Bros 3.

Strangely enough, I can see enjoyable. No matter what the graphic style they would take on.

I'll go with Bruce Almighty and Liar Liar myself. Two fun movies that you can watch more than once without getting bored. :)

The Truman Show.

That was the one that showed me that he could really act.

Bruce Almighty.

Liar Liar and The Truman Show were good and the Ace Ventura films really funny, but they were good prettymuch on just one level.

I hope Johnny Depp does a better job, than Jim Carey did.

The older Batman movies, the first two worked quite well, but the others, not so much. Jim Carey ruined The Riddlers character.

I'm actually going to come in and correct everyone here. Christopher Nolan said that there for sure will be no Riddler in The Dark Knight Rises, but he did reveal the villains. Catwoman will be played by Anne Hathaway, and Tom Hardy will be the playing the man that broke the bat? Still confused?

Bane...

Bane..................

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Nolan prides himself on his movie universe being realistic and gritty, and he picks the steroid-chugging genius who was buried so deep by the Schumacher film that they had to use heavy mining equipment to find the tip of his finger nail. The Riddler would have been perfect; the Penguin could have worked; Black Mask could have worked. Anyone other than Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, and Bane would have fit the bill, and he chooses BANE...

Dammit...

While I agree that Mr Freeze and Killer Croc wouldn't have worked in this more realistic string of Batman films, I don't see how Bane couldn't fit in there. I do find it a shame though that the Penguin wasn't mentioned, as the movie he appeared in he was memorable and he is one of the bigger villains, yet to my knowledge hasn't appeared in more than one live-action film.

Bane is brilliant if done well. He's the kind of guy that's dangerous to the bat physically and intellectually. He broke the Batman's back, for Eywa's sake.

Yes, he broke the bat; he did that because he figured out Wayne's identity and formulated an ingenious plan. However, what about 700-pound gorilla screams realist? Bane is as mental as he is physical, I will give you that; but I don't see how you can do his character justice without making him a hulking monstrosity, which just doesn't fit the universe. It's similar to how Venom was portrayed with Spider-Man 3; it wasn't necessarily incorrect, but it felt wrong because Venom wasn't three times bigger than spidey.

I've been saying ever since The Dark Knight that I hoped Bane would be the villain for the next movie. Honestly, I think he's the best logical decision for a villain following the themes present. Bane was the first man to really beat Batman, and I think focusing on that and not his powers is more important to do him justice. Hell, that's why nothing outside of the comics has done him justice yet - they always focus on his venom use and it's effects. He's not just a hulking monster; he'd work fine without being gigantic.

They did Ra's Al Ghul without the Lazarus Pit and Immortality. Bane can be done more justice than he ever has been done without the Venom usage and immense size that follows. Or just immense size. Really, what's more important - that Bane used a steriod to increase his size and strength or that he beat Batman?

Yeah I agree Bane is great character. The only other time he was done well was in Batman: The Animated Series. They showed him to be the calculating and cunning foe he really is.

The last person who played Bane (from the older movies), did an aweful job. And that Poison Ivy adopted him, or something like that.

Afraid not. Knightfall was a comic book owned by some family friends we were staying with during my 18th summer, during my trip to Nashville.

Since it's become an international television formula that has also spread here, I'll pitch in despite knowing nothing of the original. :P

Just a few days ago I read a newspaper article about it and similar programs in my country and it noted how very few of the winners (and runner-ups) were still in the singing business. Most just bring out one album and then their light goes out. Some played it smart by getting into musicals instead though, like the original winner and runner-up.

Personally, I stopped watching after the second season here. Most of the other programs that followed a similar idea didn't catch my interest. Except The Voice of Holland, that one differed enough from the rest. Apparently there is going to be an American version of that called The Voice of America, which will start in May this year.

Honestly, I don't particularly care about it. Only a few people who have managed to 'win' on that show have been noticed outside of it with any musical career.

Personally, it's just another tv show out there to attract majority viewer.
