The -trilogy- was supposed to be over with the third one. 
They are mistaken. There are only two games. The supposed "second" game is just the first, but with easier text. The statement "first of new trilogy" suggests there's going to be two more games AFTER this new one. Otherwise, it's a poorly worded sentence (as with some of Curious Village's puzzles...).
I just wish they add a character named "Steve". Anyone who knows Level 5, should know "Steve".
