I am thinking it might be a hand held weapon, I am just not sure which Mega Man series. The Legend and the Battle Network series go down these lines quite well.
Therefore, yes, I am still stuck. I just want to know if the answer lies within the Legend series or not?

If it's in the Legends Series, there can't be too many possibilities. I'll give you guys a big hint since it's been so long.
I think I must edit the riddle. Instead of having one to thank, it should be two. This might make it easier or harder, depending on your idea of what helping may be.
