Then again, I grew up on Unreal Tournament and Quake, proper shooters from a lost era. Those didn't try to be realistic, they tried to be fun. Fast action and crazy gunfights, that's what makes a good shooter. MW2 seemed like it was trying to be realistic while being an action game at the same time, but it seemed to suck at both. The weird messages onscreen coupled with the sound effects gave it a "this game has a lot of testosterone" vibe that seemed to be compensating for something.
I've bashed Counter-Strike for the same reasons, but MW2 doesn't seem as well done. I'd rather play CS.

I'll agree that Quake and Unreal Tournament are the best multiplayer FPSes... for PC.
That said, I actually really enjoyed MW2, though slightly less than the first one.
