Just got an email from Robin Walker himself. He's confirmed my suspicion: the Spy's Camera Beard hat, after being moved to the misc. slot, now has the same drop percentage as any run-of-the-mill random drop.
Yes, we now have a "common" hat.

My GPU died/overheated in less than 4 hours, so unfortunately, playing TF2 will have to be delayed yet again. Not completely dead from what I can tell, but I am getting several sorted blue screens when I try to do anything (boot normally, safe mode etc), such as irql_not_less_or_equal and memory_management. I've reseated the RAM and tested out every stick by itself, and they all seem to function. I'm getting a BIOS and the CPU is running cool. I'm new to this stuff so my assumptions may be wrong.
What makes me a good Demoman?
If I were a bad Demoman, I wouldn't be sittin' here, discussin' it with you now would I? 
That's definately odd since TF2 can practically run on a toaster nowadays.
A toaster might be pushing it a bit... Depending on your machine, the game can get pretty heavy on CPU usage. There's also the Steam overhead to take into consideration. Still, there are a lot more games that could take down a computer before that one.

My old machine would crash on Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 (both use the same engine) after 45 minutes to an hour of gameplay, and it was several years old by then. Blink, can you post your hardware specs? Maybe we can suggest something if its a hardware based problem.

My dad and I have worked on this for about 15 hours--we're convinced it's hardware. We've installed the newest Bios, and managed to reinstall and format Windows 7. After about 15 minutes, another crash was had and then we returned to the infinite BSOD loop upon startup (things like MEMORY_MANAGEMENT). I'm pretty sure it's the VRAM, since we do get a picture, just not for very long.

-Intel Core2 Duo E7500 Wolfdale 2.93GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
-8GB DDR2 RAM
-HD Radeon 5750 with Vapor-X cooling
-650w Corsair PSU
-Asus P5QL/EPU
-500gb Samsung 7200RPM HDD
-Windows 7 Home Edition - 64 bit
Now, here's the best part...
Sent in the 5750 to get replaced, so as a fill in I used an old 8400GS. It was actually running TF2 decently and functioning until the computer became unresponsive, so I shut it down.
Upon start up, lo and behold, the same blue screen loop, errors and everything (MEMORY_MANGEMENT).

Alright, PC is finally fixed--took long enough. It ended up being a RAM problem as far as I know. I really shouldn't be so excited because it's been "fixed" about 4 times now. I've been playing a ton of TF2.

Yesterday's update provided us with perhaps the most revolutionary idea ever to spawn from Valve's cranium.

It's simple: Create an avatar and they'll put it on the official steamgroup page if they like it. Make a custom hat or weapon model and they'll actually PUT IT IN THE GAME. And not just for yourself either; after they put it in your backpack, it'll be added to standard rotation for EVERYONE to obtain!
Team Fortress 2 has always focused around community content, but now saying that has become an understatement.
Interesting... I see that they accept actual 3D models data, and not only rough pictures. That'll probably make it easier for them to add new items into the game, but it isn't as easy for people to make submissions. I like this, actually: it'll slow down the flow of silly submissions, and allow people with the required skills to potentially pull together some impressive designs.
Valve are up there with Blizzard about supporting their old games. They really don't need to do updates such as this one, yet they keep adding new features and options all the time!

AT LEAST ONE more major update before the engineer update hits.
The item drop system is being worked on and tweaked. They are looking to decrease idling and increase the number of items handed out.
Their current priorities are implimenting trading and to start putting in the submissions from the contribute page.
Updates to Team Fortress 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Added 3 new hats that can be worn by any class

Well, runner ups are up, finally.
I'm actually a bit disappointed. There's some stolen artwork up there, mspaint artwork, horribly pixelated artwork, and the first place winner won ANOTHER runner up prize.

Heh, a recent update to Steam deleted almost everyone's friends lists completely. It seems to be fixed now, but man, that was annoying.

Added three new weapons:
Chocolate Bar (Heavy)
Only heals 60 hp but gives the heavy +50 temporary health when eaten
The Homewrecker (Pyro)
A mallet. 2HKO's any building, but weaker against players.
The Pain Train (Demoman and Soldier)
-10% more damage to bullets but caps points twice as fast.
Alot of new hats added.
Camera beards can now be crafted. I only had two, but even with Spy being my favorite class I thought they were ugly, so I crafted them both and got a Tyrant's Helm for Soldier. yyyes
Update today:
Pre-order "Sam and Max: The Devil's Playhouse" within the next week and get access to a hat and two guns!
