I own Rockman X7 for the PC. I play the game using a Logitech gamepad, by mapping keyboard commands unto the gamepad. 1 time, I tried to return to the title menu and the game crashed. Nothing too bad, it occasionally happens and I can resume play by entering it again. But recently, the game crashed and since then it has completely ceased responding to controls. Even when I install it anew, it doesn't answer the keyboard or the gamepad! Only usual commands like Alt+Tab and Alt+F4 still work.
I've been unable to find a solution to this. Maybe the config file is broken, but I can't locate the saves either....
Anybody who can help, please, post your suggestions on how I can solve this problem, no matter how technical the solution may sound. If nothing else, I'd be grateful if someone could suggest where the saves are located, cause I need to backup them anyway. Please, I've already tried elsewhere for help...

I've uninstalled my own copy of X7 some time ago, so I can't double check what I'm about to say here.

This might seem obvious, but have you tried restarting your computer between each installation attempt? It's possible that some background process would keep running, eating up your keyboard remapping. On the other point, I'd expect the save data to be stored directly in the installation folder of the game. If it was anywhere else, I probably would still have it on my system.

Sorry for not being able to help much more. The game is unstable on some systems, and the Korean-only error messages that it sometimes throws are complete gibberish to me.

Thanks for the help, Doctor Cossack(never thought I'd be saying that after having played the Megaman game he starred in :) )
I tend to be very thorough when problems like these occur, I did try your advice... I even cleaned all registry entries of the game!
I guess I'll just have to wait until I get another computer to try the game on. I'll have to repeat everything, but I'm so frustrated with this problem it doesn't matter anymore.
Unless someone else can help, that is... :(
