Mine's updating with it now as we speak.
This looks good!
I've always hated the Steam interface, as I find it ugly and quite slow on my system. This update looks like it will make the various sections easier to use and better organized. I'm looking forward to the final version!

Been playing with it for a bit. Initial impressions:
1: I don't like the font...it's a personal gripe but it's a bit small on this monitor.
2: The games list has multiple ways to view it so there's something for everyone, but I prefer default the best.
3: NO MORE INTERNET EXPLORER!!!!

In-game overlay...no complaints here. It WORKS faster, it LOOKS nicer, has more information displayed at once, and HAS AN IN-GAME CLOCK. -FINALLY-
I don't see a reason to not download it now if you use steam mainly for games and not being part of a community (the chat has a weird gradient but it still works the same as ever.)

Steam is basically a free game launcher and community connection program for games made and supported by Valve.

Demos are free, and there are certain weekends where you can play certain full-version games for free during that weekend. Generally, though, you have to pay for the games (they gotta make money somehow). They do have sales, and some of their older games can have sales that make them as cheap as five bucks. Updates on start-up let you know what games are getting sales and free weekends. Big updates on games, such as for Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2 often have free weekends attached to them.
The program itself and its friend-chat features are completely free. Furthermore, games registered to the account can be used on other computers; via downloading the data for it onto the computer.
