It's insane to see how popular these games seem to be, despite the fact that I don't hear much about them outside of what you tell me.

Originally, those games were presented as a crossover between the Disney universe and the Final Fantasy series. Did they keep that hook, or did the original content take over? I'm getting the impression that it's the latter.

I think it's just the all the popular Final Fantasy characters jam-packed into one game with the added perk of Disney just attracts people. But I honestly think everyone went "OMG! Cloud and Squall in the SAME GAME? MUST. GET."

...That's my Logic.

Actually, just the opposite. It's a mostly Disney game with 1-4 Final Fantasy characters serving as cameos more than anything.

Doc, KH2 and 358/2 Days were alot less focused on Disney and more on original characters, but the PSP game is returning to a Disney-themed adventure, where Disney characters and elements serve as PART of the story, and not just filler (Also note that people are calling it the best in the series because of this.)
