Behold! Exploding Rabbit has made a game based off of Super Mario Bros, only with different playable characters.

Now you can run through an almost exact duplicate of the Super Mario Bros. game while playing as Mario, Samus Aran of Metroid, Link of the Legend of Zelda, Simon Belmont of Castlevania, Bill of Contra, or Mega Man of, uh, Mega Man.

Each character plays more or less like they do in their own games, and the first time you use the character in the game, the game will tell you about what the character can do--for example, Mega Man can slide, Link can use the Boomerang, Simon can use the Throwing Axe, Bill can shoot up or down while moving, and Samus can use the Morph Ball and drop bombs.

Powerups in the game work on the new characters as well--getting a Super Mushroom, for example, adds a helmet to Mega Man and enables the Charge Shot, and getting a Fireflower allows him to shoot fireballs and charge up for an even bigger Charge Shot. (Exploding Rabbit warns that touching the flagpole while invincible thanks to the Star will cause the game to crash. He'll fix that in an update.)

Also, as an added bonus, you can choose which character you want to play as at the start of each level, so you're not limited to one choice for the duration of the game. The music for the level will change to match the character you are playing as at the time.

Man, this game is exploding across the net like wildfire. But it's a good one, that's for sure.
