This is a 3DS topic for everything 3DS



First-according to kotaku and wikipedia, the 3DS will have wii graphics and an X360-class processor specially designed by Toshiba™. Yes, an X360 processor and wii+ graphics in a souped-up ds.


Second, it is a new product line reverse compatible with the DS games.


Finally, what games would you want for it.

I'd enjoy perfect dark 3d, metroid prime 3d, and mmbn6 with improved graphics, 3d battles, double beast, and storyline upgrade.

Note that the only highly unrealistic on is the SUPER MMBN6

Good point, I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere else yet.

I first saw some Kid Icarus screenshots separately from the presentation, and I immediately assumed that it was for Wii because of the quality. It did look somewhat off (some backgrounds looked a bit plain), but I assumed that it was looking like that since the game is still under production. Then I noticed that it's coming for the 3DS... I was surprised, to say the least!

Keep in mind that if the processor info is good, then it theoretically could play halo3, modern warfare,etc. without lag.

Didn't stop them from releasing games such as Diddy Kong Racing on the DS, and multiple other titles on both the DS and GBA before that. Perfect Dark might not make it, but I wouldn't rule out Rare entirely.

Neither remake has any Rare input.

Perfect Dark completely belongs to Rare, so it's safe to say it won't be happening.

Really? Nintendo put a Perfect Dark virtual console, so my line of thought was-if they did THAT, then why not remake it 3D for the 3DS?

Going beyond the Perfect Dark example, Teej, you missed my point. Diddy Kong is a Nintendo-owned character, sure. However, the fact remains that Rare is the company that remade Diddy Kong Racing for the DS. They were also responsible for porting the three Donkey Kong Country games to the GBA. If you want to break away from Nintendo licenses, they've released It's Mr. Pants for the GBA two years after they were acquired by Microsoft.

They've done work for the Nintendo portable systems even after being let go by Nintendo, and I see no reason why they'd stop right here, especially since Microsoft doesn't have a portable game system (Zune notwithstanding).

I bow to you for supporting my argument.

The estimated game filesize (From someone who did NOT give source) will be 2GB plus.


Nintendo has also announced a crackdown on piracy - more anti-piracy (than dsi), and piracy block update EVEN WHEN 3DS IS OFF!!!

I do not support piracy in any way.

Release date and price in Japan confirmed: February 26, 2011 for ~300$ US! Europe is confirmed for March 2011, so North America should get it either in February or March.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to 3D remakes, not sequels.
MML3 surprises me- as it probably did everyone. I was kinda expecting SF4,BN7,MM11,MM classic collection, X collection, etc.
I really don't know if ill get MML3

F-Zero 3D had better be made.

Also, the friend codes will now be specific to the console only instead of each game, which will make things easier to manage... though that shouldn't be a problem by now, eh?

I can easily understand that in your case: the best fighters, and several solid licensed games, often never get out of Japan because of property rights. On my end, I've never imported a GBA or DS title so this is no deal breaker, but I despite any kind of regional locking regardless. I'd have purchased some Japanese DVDs in the past, but I wouldn't have been able to read them locally. I also had some trouble getting my legally purchased copies of the Rockman Complete Works titles to run.

Maybe I'll get Lego Star Wars III.
