http://www.anti-acta.com/

I'm going to ask you guys to read this before posting anything, and after reading and understanding it to discuss it, because anything I say can be found on this website.

Yes, it is real, yes it is in discussion, the reuters link in the website is accurate. It's been known for awhile, but kept in secret since 2002 before actually coming into light about what it actually was due to a government official blowing the whistle on it.

So..discuss after reading.

They completely lost me at "ACTA also makes Internet Service Providers legally responsible for any of it's users downloaded content."

That's just plain bullshit.

It's also actually in the treaty, which is now open for reading, it's pretty huge.

Not only does it effect ISP, but it also effects webhosting companies. The DMCA becomes useless if this treaty is passed due to the safe harbor clause under the DMCA, which allows webhosting companies to not be held liable for anything their clients due, with this treaty passed, that is gone, and thus we're all held accountable for not being "proactive" in the monitoring of networks.

It's an international thing, it's basically international law trying to catch up to the internet, but being 10x more severe and unfair than what it should be.

The sad thing about humanity is that its always looking for new ways to screw itself over, and its doing a fine job here.
