Deus Ex 3: I Didn't Ask For This (Deluxe Edition) follows the story of Adam Jensen, a man who laments his existence and tries to cope with the fact that he has a pair of kickin' sunglasses built into his face and as well as swords and other weaponry built into both of his arms.

Jensen does his best to forget his troubled existence by getting a job punching the women walking around town.

In-game footage of early objectives

Every now and again, Jensen grows bored of his job and takes on small sidejobs to pay for upgrades for his awesome (yet tragic) robot hands. These sidejobs are minigames focused around infiltrating big businesses (such as Wal-Mart and Starbucks) and stealing information and/ or killing select people. These can be done via stealth or through gunplay.

Despite the fact that the infiltration segments take a backseat to women-punching, they offer a surprising amount of depth

Deus Ex 3: Rise of the Machines will be available next month. I am hyped and already have it pre-ordered. Anyone else?

Fine, if no one else is going to talk about it, I will.

I.

LOVE.

THIS.

GAME.

It has a ton of content (the first mission took me more than three hours) and the attention to the world is amazing. I don't want to spoil anything, but the entire package so far has been fantastic. The different augmentations all seem useful, but I never feel punished if I decide to pick something over something else. Everything has a use, and everything will give you a proper reward. If you have the money, get it for sure.

One thing to note is that it's definitely NOT a console port. The PC version is perfect.

The system requirements can be intimidating, but it runs really well, actually. If you can play TF2, which is, what, four years old, you'll be able to play Deus Ex just fine.

Anyway, I beat the game with 25 hours under my belt, and I'm ready to play again, already thinking of how I can do things differently. Definitely worth the $50 price tag (at least on PC)

I think this video sums up Deus Ex perfectly.

What a shame.

I have seen the Deus Ex name pop around alot, as if it was a release that should be anticipated. But I know relatively nothing about the series. Can someone tell me why I should be interested?

Deus Ex: Human Revolutions is the third games in a series, notable because of how amazing the first one was. There was another sequel, Invisible War, which was a good game but not up the standards set by the original.

What is Deus Ex, though? In brief: it is a cyberpunk-themed action role-playing game developed by Ion Storm Inc. and published by Eidos Interactive in 2000, which combines gameplay elements of first-person shooters with those of role-playing video games. The game received near-universal critical and industry acclaim, including being named "Best PC Game of All Time" in PC Gamer's Top 100 PC Games and in a carried out by UK gaming magazine PC Zone. It was a frequent candidate for and winner of Game of the Year awards, drawing praise for its pioneering designs in player choice and multiple narrative paths.

Basically, it takes place around 2050 or so, after civilization has basically collapsed. There's a worldwide plague going on and though there's a cure, there's not enough of it. So the cure is going to those deemed "vital" to society, which many people are unhappy out. Needless to say, some people turn to terrorism (Statue of Liberty? More like Statue of Libombty, amirite?). In response, the United Nations has increased its power to fight terrorism. Of course, every major player is being backed by someone who thinks they know best for the world, and basically every conspiracy is running up against each other.

Transhumanism is a bit of a theme, though arguably not to the extent of the other games. The main character, JC Denton is the second human to have undergone nano-augmentations, a new piece of tech that not only outperforms, but leaves almost no disfiguration compared to the mechanical augmentation that others have gone under. You can bet this earns friends. Anyway, JC works for UNATCO, the organization tasked with fighting terrorists. Which is all well and good until it isn't.

Anyway, part of the fun is that this game was all WAR ON TERROR (but who's the real terrorists?) long before the actual war on terror happened.

So you don't have to read the TL;DR of Mega X's post: It's a FPS with multiple paths, what you choose to do or say influences your path.

I am such crap at Deus Ex. It's clear I would be the worst spy ever. Can you get more ammo early on for long-range weapons or am I really gonna have to abuse stealth? Because I can't sneak with a shit.
