Yes, Nintendo has announced a price drop for the 3DS from the current 25,000 yen to 15,000 yen ( santa madre! ). A drop in price never seen before in the vg industry! For all the losers who bought the system for 25,000 yen, they will receive a free game data via Nintendo's website ( some a probably ports that don't cost a leak anyway ). The price drop will take effect on all 3DS sold from August 11th. Apparently, price cuts on all export markets will follow suit, although the new prices for each markets ( EU, KO, AU, etc ) are still not known. The US will get their price cut at 170 bucks.

Anyone remember the Junebug joke?

Those of us who purchased or will purchase a 3DS before August 12 in Europe will be getting 20 free NES and GBA games. TWENTY. A partial list is available in the article I linked to, the other games are still unknown at this time.

I was already happy with my 3DS, although I was really looking forward to have a few different titles to play with. This surprise, along with an Autumn line-up which is looking good (Super Mario 3DS! Star Fox! Kid Icarus! Mario Kart!) will definitely help the 3DS to gain some speed. I think it's a good idea too, since the price was often seen as high for a device too often considered as "simply another DS unit".
