Minecon 2012 is coming up already!

While the detailed schedule and registration are not available yet, we've got a date and location: Disneyland Paris, on November 24-25, 2012.

I must admit that I'm tempted to go. This could be the peak of Minecraft's popularity (although that's hard to say with the path that this game followed!), and it sounds like something that could be fun. Where else do you find many people wearing painted or printed cardboard boxes on their heads?

If I was to go, I'm seriously considering having a custom t-shirt printed with the logo of our site/server and it's address, possibly in QR code form as seen below.





Free advertising, right? Besides the price of the shirt itself, of course. Any thoughts on this idea?

Less than two hours after the tickets were put on sale. Wow. Last year, it took a month and a half to reach the goal!

They're planning to release more in the coming weeks, but this throws a huge wrench in my plans...

Against the odds, I've got my ticket! I'm going to Minecon!

They've made an extra 1000 tickets available this morning, and they sold out in 11 minutes. It's a good thing I was paying attention to be able to score one! If anyone reading this also wants in, Mojang is preparing a larger release on Thursday.


In the meanwhile, I've been tweaking the shirt design. I ended up with a different green shade; it's darker than what I'd have liked (something between that and my first prototype would be nice), but this allows me to put a white border around the logo and QR code. This makes them stand out a lot more. I'm still debating reducing them in size a bit, though.

That's close to what I wished to do originally. The problem is, I can't have any white on light-colored t-shirt, the print process just can't do it. It comes up as transparent instead, and everything else (logo and text) blends too much with the shirt for my taste. That's why I picked the darker shade: the white makes for better contrast.
