Out of curiosity, how fast do you usually play through games?

On my end, I tend to play through them rather slowly, often taking several weeks to play through your average game. Some RPGs, especially ones that aren't portable, can often take me months to complete. As much as I'm loving Xenoblade Chronicles, I'm still far from seeing it's end! Likewise, I started playing Pokémon White 2 on the week of it's release, but I'm nowhere close to taking on the champion, or whatever his/her title is. This actually becomes a problem with games having a single player adventure along with a multiplayer component. While I usually want to wait until I've beat most the core single player experience to get some practice before going online, and since it takes me a while to go through the game; by the time I'm ready most of the people I know have already beat the game, played their share online and have mostly lost interest in it.

Am I simply asking the wrong people, and there are many others out there doing the same as me? Or am I in the minority being in this situation?

So, which is it for you? Fast gamer chewing through games, or slow-and-steady taking it's time to enjoy the experience?

I take them slowly most of the time too, though there's usually several factors into that.

I mostly play long-lived games, like Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas... all of which are long in their own right and even longer with the dedicated mod support.

Then there's other games whose length is justified by the difficulty, like certain shooters whose higher difficulties mean you take forever and a half with them.

Rising summed it up quite well; it depends on the game.

While I'd be glad to take an ultra-hard FPS game like Perfect Dark slowly, there are certain games such as SP MM8BDM that I just feel the need to speedrun.

These days I tend to have gaming ADD. I play abit of a game for abit and switch to another for a week or so. Consequently, I play through games slowly.

It's not unusual that I play games like Necro does.
It's not unusual to have fun, with anyone.

I used to go pretty fast, at least through the storyline bits of RPGs (and all of Pokemon), but nowadays I go pretty slowly with them. I usually have multiple games that I am halfway through. With a rare few, I get stuck (hello Darksiders II!), so there's little to do about that.

Haven't gotten more than halfway through Pokemon Black before stopping at the time.

This honestly depends entirely on the genre I'm playing. For example, I actually listen to the cutscenes in say, Arkham City or Dishonored now. However, there will always games like GTA IV where I just run through as fast as possible, cutscenes be damned.

Basically, it's a question of "How much will I give a damn about this story?"
