If all goes as planned, Minecraft 1.5 will be available from the launcher on Wednesday. However, wait before upgrading if you want to keep playing with us! The server software will take several days, if not a few weeks to be updated, and 1.5 clients won't be able to connect until that happens. Keep an eye on this space for future updates!

No. This is the kind of bugs that the Bukkit team tends to solve with their own releases, so I don't think it'll be an issue by the time we update.
