Hi, I am back. Some of you might remember me about my rom hacking for Rockman & Forte ? :)

Anyway, I am trying to find the right word for Mayhem. For an example, Murder and Mayhem in Gotham City.

Should I write, "Murder and Destruction in Gotham City." instead ? Because I am translating the script to Portuguese. The Portuguese word for Mayhem is "mutilação" but I do not like the sound for it. Not many Portuguese people will understand the meaning of this word.

What about frantic ? An example, "can only be described as frantic,
two guards brutally beaten and...."

Those are mostly in the big words for some people that do not understand them. Remember, I am translating for the simple words that some Portuguese people can understand it. Not everybody in Portugal like much as here in America will understand the big word.

Mayhem == confusion ? ( can't use the chaos because some of them do not understand this of meaning )
Frantic === insane ? ( can't use distracted because some of them do not understand this of meaning )

Can you help me out ? It will be great.

The frantic for this sentence can be meaning.. "insane" ?? Please help me out, thanks.

In that context, may I suggest "chaos"? I think it gets close to the idea of "mayhem", and might be easier to understand for many people.

I have a hard time explaining syntax, but I don't think frantic would sound right. At least, it certainly wouldn't sound right in English.

Murder and Frantic are different types of words (I don't remember what defines a noun, verb etc.)

Chaos I think is an outstanding alternative. Being unfamiliar with Portuguese myself, I can't say for sure. I'm certain that our syntaxes are different.

Okay.. for an example here for frantic:

.....can only be described as frantic,
two guards brutally beaten and
the criminal mastermind, the Joker,
has escaped from his maximum
security holding cell. At this time
Police Chief, Commissioner Gordon
cannot be reached for comment.

I need the simple word for frantic in the sentence, thanks. :)

P.S. Dr. Cossack, thank you for pming me, cheers!
