I got one of these guys, but I did not realize that it is formatted to MAC and that I would not be able to access it via my Win 7 laptop. At least, this is what appears to be the case, since it came with next to no instructions or information save one scrap of paper that tells me "PC USERS: The web links on the USB are Mac-based." I plug it in, it makes the plug-in sound, gives me some "Installing your hardware" message, completes the installation.... then nothing. I dunno. Suggestions?

USB drives are not Windows or Mac formatted. We left the era of 3.5" floppy disks some time back, thankfully. :)

From what I understood, you're supposed to have some files available on that thing. Once it's drivers get installed, can you see it as an available disk? If so, is there anything stored on it?

Tell your laptop to stop being a dunderhead.

Do as Doc says, look and see if it recognizes it as an external drive.

It doesn't appear under My Computer as an icon, but it installed as a Generic USB mass storage device (H: drive) according to the Control panel but there is no way for me to access it. When I try to go there, it says "Please insert a disk into Removable Drive (H:)." That's why I thought it couldn't detect it as formatted properly or something. I tried it tonight on a workspace desktop PC and it says the same thing when I plug it in, asking to insert a disk. Is there something I'm missing? Or did I get a defective one? Ladies and gentlemen, your thoughts?

P.S. First time I typed "Please insert a dick" and when I caught it debated on whether to leave it in or not but decided against so you're welcome?

Maybe the driver didn't install properly or is missing?

Right-click in the "Computer" window or icon and select "Properties". At the left of the screen that happens, hit "Device Manager". Are there any entries listed with a yellow exclamation mark? If you see one about a USB device, that could be your problem. You can remove the drive and delete that entry, so that a new installation attempt will be made the next time you connect it.

If that fail, which is likely since you got the same result on two different computers, I'm out of ideas. Contacting the company that produced this thing might be a good idea at that point.

Okay, so I finally have some time to take another look at this. And for an extra twist to this story, I actually bought two of these, not one. My gf wanted one to put her school work on. She opened hers first, and then we discovered it didn't seem to work at all. I didn't even open mine until this afternoon, and... mine works fine. Plug it in, works, no issues, all the info is there. Plug the other one in, and it recognizes it, but nothing. Unopenable. There are no errors in the device manager, but under "Disk drives" I see that the working one reads "USB 2.0 Flash Disk USB Device" and the non-working one comes up as "Generic USB Flash Disk USB Device". Do you think it's possible to fix this myself? I don't care about the files on there, since the other one works. I just want it to function as a USB, but on the 3 computers tried so far, it doesn't. I reeeeally don't want to call Capcom's store about this (anticipating a huge headache), but what else can I try here?

If the other one works on the same computer(s), then it's not a driver issue.

Since you don't need to keep the files, you could try formatting it outright, if Windows will give you the option. I really have the impression that it's defective, but maybe that could give it a nudge. I hate phone tech support, so I understand why you're reluctant to call them for this!

I'd call them for you if I could. I love dealing with moronic tech support.
