Recently, Nintendo released the first official details of the Gamecube Mario Kart, along with some screenshots. I\'d like to ask those of you who are interested in the game/series, what your thoughts on this are?

Myself, I really don\'t care for what I\'ve heard and seen so far. The idea of two players playing together as a team sounds like an alright concept, but I don\'t really care for it. I like racing by myself. I don\'t like the idea of relying on someone to help me win the race. And by all the screenshots I\'ve seen so far, it\'s shown two people per kart in each.. so who knows if they\'ll have the classic style at all. It\'s too early to know, of course though. But so far the concept really doesn\'t appeal to me. That said, the concept of Metroid Prime being a FPS and the Wind Wakers graphics didn\'t seem that appealing to me at first, but after playing both games I became a fan of both. So I\'m not going to make any judgements so far.

I don\'t know why, but the karts being characterized just bothers me. Seems a bit cheesy to me.

Oh, and one last thing.. why in the world is Diddy Kong going to be in this game? DK I can understand, he and Mario have been in the same games before. But Diddy?

Thats puzzling. Maybe DK\'s taking a break or something?

Diddy was one of Rare\'s characters, yes. But they don\'t have the rights to him, anything that Rare did for the Donkey Kong series belongs to Nintendo.

And Donkey Kong needing a partner does make sense. At the same time, I still don\'t think Diddy should be there, because he isn\'t a Mario character. Donkey Kong they can get away with saying he is, but Diddy? I personally don\'t think so. However, I admit that seeing Diddy as a partner for Donkey is more appealing than using Donkey Kong Jr. or anything like that. The idea of baby Mario and Luigi annoy me, as with the Koopa Jr.

Baby Bowser annoys me, only because he\'s like...a replacement for the Koopa Kids or something.

I myself like the inclusion of Birdo and Waluigi. But Baby Mario and Baby Luigi? Good lord Nintendo, can\'t you think of better characters than that? #.@

The two in a cart thing might not be bad. Depends on if it\'ll be comp-controlled or not. If you control it, then it\'ll be fine..each character has unique items though. I want to use characters I LIKE, not characters that have good items but I don\'t want to play as. =\\

Ah well, I always have doubts about games and end up liking them in the end. I\'ll still get this game regardless...just for Lord Bowser and his cool kart.

I\'m with Hollow on the subject of Baby Bowser. Seems like Nintendo\'s never going to return the Koopalings to a Mario game.. *sigh* And again I agree with Hollow.. Baby Mario and Luigi annoy me. Why are they even in the game though? As far as I know there is no time travel in the Mario series, and Mario and Luigi haven\'t had children to my knowledge. Oh well.

I have my doubt on this game, but I had doubts on Wind Waker and Metroid Prime, and I loved both. So I\'m going to give this game benefit of the doubt.

I think that diddy ist he stupidest nintendo character there is. I don\'t know why they would put her in the game, doesn\'t she suck? anyways, I just think that they did this so that either the game isn\'t to familiar to the old one, or else just to make the game more advanced.:lol:

With Mario Kart, I don\'t think that it\'s really sequels that matter. I think that Mario Kart: Double Dash, if anything, will be the \'sequel\' to Mario Kart 64.

I know that Super Circuit was the last Mario Kart game made, but Mario Kart 64 was the last 3-D Mario Kart Racing Game.

MKDD will most likely take ideas from MK64 and remake them to the NGC, with a few or even more additional bonus\'.
