Hey everyone! I'm working on a Megaman Fan Game. I was using Game Maker but I didn't find it all that helpful. I've now switched over to Multimedia Fusion. I was wondering if anyone out there can help me. Is their anyone who will be willing to work with me to handle the programming aspect of the game. If I was to supply someone with all the graphics, all the backgrounds, all animations and sound effects, will someone be able to program the game? If anyone is curious I will post several animations and Boss characters I have made for this game. The game will be done in 16 - bit graphics and will introduce new gameplay elements to the Megaman game. Thanks to anyone and everyone who read through my request, I really appreciate it. :)

That tis a mighty large request... how-ever I often make Megaman fan games (see my game shrine link at the bottom for one of my games) and I may be able to help start you off.

Edit:
The robot master is good, but he needs a original head. Or a very heavy edit.

The body was made from many parts, both from Robot masters and enemies from the Megaman and Megaman X series. The reason I used Megaman's face is plot related. In a nutshell, Megaman look - alikes are rampaging, through the city of Monsteropolis, 12 to be exact. Each have a different element or characteritstic which differs them from the rest. The robot master I have shown, Phobos, attacks using shadows and works in the darkness. I'm putting up some more animations with this post, let me know what you think. I've worked hard on them but the animation are still EXTREMEMLY early, lol. Also, thanks for the offer, I'd love it if you could help me get started, ever since I played Megaman on my Nintendo, I always wanted to make my own Megaman game. If anyone else wants to help email me at gorak_yee@hotmail.com Thanks!

Thanks a lot man, I appreciate the feedback. I realized, as I browsed through hordes upon hordes of sprites then anyone can make just about anything they want as long as they supply the creativity and the patience to do so. The name of the game is Megaman: Distant Shadows. New gameplay elements will include Megaman being able to steal enemy abilities to reach certain areas. Think of how Drillman or Hardman's Weapon allowed you to destroy certain walls, certain enemy powers will lead to secret areas were you will find new adaptors and parts for Rush, Eddie and Beat. Also, Boss battles won't be the same. I won't say much but the old way of defeating bosses is gone, I came up with a new more difficult approach. Here are two more Robot Masters, Arson and Hydro, enjoy!

The reason for the Megaman heads is that the Robot Masters were made to look like Megaman, it's a key point to the plot. Hopefully, one day when the game is done, everyone will understand, lol. =) Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming!

Thanks Bryan. I still have yet to reveal the other eight Robot Masters, or I refer to them in my game, Seekers. For my game I really wanted to stray from the old formula of naming Boss characters. I want the game to feel like a brand new experience with a character we all know and love. I put 12 bosses since I felt 8 was too little, I want the game to be long. I'm also planning to implement hidden mini games were players assume the roles of other characters(even Boss characters) to extend the fun and provide different view points for the story. I'm working on some animations right now, I'll post them in a few days and some early drafts of Psycho's Level.

Chaos X - I already started spriting the 32 Bit sequel for this game. Distant Shadows actually started out as 8 Bit but when my computer crashed I lost it all. I thought I would never sprite again, lol. Having already started with 8 Bit I knew what the bosses would look like. So when I browsed through both 16 and 32 Bit Megaman sprites, the 16 Bit ones
offered more of what I was looking for.

Hublo - It's already underway, the face will stay the same but I plan on giving each Seeker a different helmet. Psycho, for example will have a cracked helmet lined with spikes from front to back.

Fred the Met - Not clones persay, just robots designed to look like him.(but definitely enhanced , lol) I really don't want to spoil the plot so I'll end it there. =)

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I was wondering how do you make fusion sprites?:conf:And by the way, sweet looking game. You should make a secret game so you play one on one games and u can choose any 1 you want including the bosses. Love the bosses by the way. Arson is my favorite. At least I think thats his name.

I can answer that.

Fusion sprites are where a sprite is made up of many different other sprites to create a new one.
Often the most used way of making new Megaman bosses.

Paint, for beginners to it.

To take the parts.. simply cut the part you want off, and remove the excess you dont want.

Ace summed it up pretty nicely. I'd also like to take this time to thank him since he volunteered to help me make this game a reality. Thanks man! Usually, when I'm drawing sprites, I have a basic concept of what I want the final sprite to look like already in my head before I commence hacking away at existing sprites. It's useful to have a bunch of sprites in front of you so that you can see what you have to work with, the more resources you have available to you, the more varied and unique the outcome. I also recommend Paint Shop Pro for making sprites. It's very user friendly and great for editing sprites. With that aside, I made a new animation today. I mentioned earlier that Megaman will have the ability to steal the abilities of his enemies. In this short clip, we see Megaman stealing the abilities of a poor little Metool. Poor guy, and I love Mets so much, lol. Let me know what you guys think. And thanks for your comments XIAYOU, Arson is one of my favorites too. =)

No problem dude. I'm at gorak_yee@hotmail.com. I'll post the new animations as soon as I get them done. I'm currently working on the Enemy Weapon for Sniper Joe. If you notice, Megaman's arms and legs change to the brown shade of the Metool when he acquires its weapon. All the weapons won't be like that. The colors will change on Megaman in according to which of his body parts has been augmented. I think for Sniper Joe's weapon I will give Megaman his shield and increase his defense so his arms and chest would change to a green shade. Also, I wanted everyone's opinion on something. Should the enemy weapons be collectable for later equipping, like Enemy Materia in FF7, or Souls in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, or should I have a time limitation on the weapons with unlimited use? Tell me what you think.

This may burst your bubble a little bit, but what your proposing would be hard as hell to program.

I'm talking about 600+ lines of events just for Megaman..

Just remember.. your spriting all of this.

If you can do me sprite sheets like:
Image
(Putting all the frames onto one image like that.)

I'll put your graphics into a TGF file.

unknown I definately think u should use the powers for a limited time only. Did u say u were gonna use 12 bosses? If so u should start on them 1st and do the mini stuff later. U should also start makin megaman in sprites usin the bosses weapons. Keep up th fusing. Hope to see more soon. Do you know how to post sprites on the board? if u do please tell me and I can post my fan character.

I looked earlier in the posts and I saw that you were gonna make different helmets. Well I think fer phobos you should make a helmet with horns since thats one of his attacks. And for arson do a burner man thing on his head. But tell me if u have any new ideas, like new bosses or an update on that sniper joe thing. if u make more bosses email them to me.

Ace - I do realize that it will be complex and I am more than willing to do all the spriting. I plan on committing myself to this game. As for the events and programming aspect, the most I need from you or from anyone is guidance. If someone can show me and explain to me how to program the game, then I can simply pick off from where you left off and program the bulk of the game later. As for right now all I really want is a demo, showcasing maybe 2 or 3 abilities, an already acquired boss ability and a boss encounter to end the demo. If you can teach me how to manage TGF up until that point then I'm sure I'll be confident to begin programming, no matter how many hours or events it takes to get everything I want in there. I'm not just making this game for myself, I'm making for all the fans out there. =) I'll make the sprites sheets as you requested and I'll email you them when I'm done. Thanks man!

XIAYOU - Most of the bosses are complete, I'd say, 10 out of 12 with the remaining 2 nearing completion. I don't want to show all of them just yet. At most I'll probably post 1 or 2 more and animations of attacks from the ones I've already shown. So I guess the reason I'm doing the mini stuff, as you put it, is because the bosses are all but done.

P.S. More animations tonight, later!
