At the time of TOS, robots are not capable of or have not engaged in sexual reproduction, therefore there are no robotic family relationships. Roll and Rock were made by the same creator. They have no parents. I am tired of people saying that roll is his sister and saying that they cannot be involved in a relationship. In the X series, reploids are visibly attracted to those of the opposite gender as females are more numerous in the X series. If there were more female robots in TOS, this would be more visible.

That\'s not what the creators of Megaman say. That is true sorta... Robots can\'t be related really because they can\'t share the same blood. (Or whatever) But the made them family and you should be happy about this. C\'mon Nayus! Cheer up! ^_^

why is it that people think that serious people arent happy? Im happy. I just like to have a serious discussion once in a while. I suppose they are family, but not biological family. Family is those that love and care about you, so they are a family in a way.

I call them the Light family. It makes sense, Light made them so they are like his children If Rock, Blues, Roll, and X are made by him, they are siblings. Blues was partially made by Wily, so I\'d have to say that means that The Light and Wily families are related.

Yeah, it\'s set in the scence that they are from the same \"creator(s)\" (parent(s)) and not in the scence that they share blood (or oil of whatever).

Then there\'s the whole Robots can\'t think for themselves thing too. (Reploids are androids. There\'s a difference)
Rock decided on his own, to fight Wily. That\'s \"impossible\" according to popular belief. If Rock can do that, Why can\'t he and Roll be siblings?

That\'s confusing. Rock\'s not a reploid so he can\'t think for himself, but he decided to fight wily on his own:conf:. Isn\'t that kinda a cointradiction?

Not to mention the many times Forte argued with Wily.

Don\'t get confused with all the fancy words Capcom is throwing at you guys. Let\'s just pretend the word \"reploid\" does not exist.

Rockman and the original robots do have emotions, feelings, and etc. They can think logically and (seemly) have a freewill too.

The other robots in the future (minus Rockman X and Zero) also have all of the same functions as the past robots had.

The difference between the past and future robots are that they think differently. The past robots are not thinking of destroy everything and \"enjoying\" a blood bath or two sometimes. They are more inclined to steal the other robot\'s weapon and moving on or thinking of what new videogame is out on the market. BP

\"Android\" is a real word for a robot that try to or act human (and I think it could also be used on robot animals trying to or act like animals but I\'m not sure).

Now, Capcom just didn\'t want to just say \"robots\" in the X series. They slapped on \"reploid\" and there you have it! The same robots under a different name.

A MAIN POINT OF MY RAMBLING: Don\'t confuse Rockman as a reploid and don\'t confuse reploids as robots. Even though they are the same, the reploids are made by Doctor Cain and the past robots were made by Doctor Right, Doctor Wily, Doctor Cossack, or etc.

Now for my opinion on Roll and Rock being related. Yes, Rock, Roll, and the other robots are not related by \"blood\", but they all share the same or some part of the original robot blueprints, Blues. Blues is the prototype and all the other robots just add on, take off, or modify Blues\' structure, internal parts, and/or programing. Creating new blueprints for anything, is time consuming and, most of the time, end up as a failure. Everything is related to Blues (yes, probably even the enemies on the levels too).

Oops! I forgot all about Doctor Cossack! I have no ideas how he made his robots and Beat. Also remember the robots in the Robotics Competition in Rockman 6. So, also in my opinion, those robots are NOT \"related\" to Blues.

Light made them as robots and programmed a unique personality into them. Let us compare their relationship to various computer games created in the past several years. A short while ago, games were simple and had eventually developed into something that required more advanced hardware. In a sense, the game that marked the new generation of 3d gaming was, let us say, quake 2. Quake 2 had full 3d models and was far supperior to other games. Quake 2 will represent pre-Light robots, while games prior will represent currently in development robots such as Asimo and Mark Tilden\'s BEAM robots. Eventually, Epic Megagames, a company known for highly addictive shareware games such as Jazz Jackrabit, created an incredible 3d engine known as Unreal. This game dominated the market and Quake 2 was no longer the \"big\" game. Unreal will represent Blues. Soon after, many other games came out, such as Half Life and its many expansions. Half Life will represent the six robots Light and Wily built. At this time, Epic was modifying the Unreal engine for their next project. Quake 3 subsequently followed. Quake 3 will represent the revolt of wily and his first 8 robot masters. Epic fought back with the award winning game Unreal Tournament(which i find myself playing more than 2003! :)) UT will represent Rock. Quake 3 began to subcede and go away whilt UT became more popular. This symbolized Rock\'s victories over Wily. Several years after the release of UT, Epic created UT2K3, which is completely different from previous games. With its advanced 3d engine and the Karma physics engine, it is far supperior to anything on the market currently. UT2K3 will represent X. Almost immediately after this release, ID Software announced the release of Quake IV. This could be either good or bad for Epic, so it will represent Zero. This shows that game engines are NOT related to eachother, but only based on the previous model.

If you dont understand that, let me simplify it. One day, Dr. Light was hungry. He made a sandwich. He ate the sandwich and it was gone. The next day, he made two more sandwiches the same way and had his neighbor Dr. Wily help him make a few more. Dr wily stole the extra sandwiches and entered them in a cooking contest. Light fixed up one of the two other sandwiches and entered it in the competition. He won and Dr Wily made 8 donuts to compete with Lights sandwich......so on and so on. The point is that Dr Light didnt give birth to a sandwich, and sandwiches arent related. One Reuben is not related to another Reuben and so on. I feel like having a sandwich now....

Actually, yes, they are brother and sister. Taken from the Megaman 8 instruction manual:

\"Roll

DL #002

Mega Man\'s younger sister Roll works in the laboratory and assists Dr. Light in turning the bolts Mega Man collects into those nifty items he can obtain at the lab. For more on this, see the next section.\"

Capcom themself has said they are brother and sister. Anyone can say whatever they want about robots not being able to have a real family; that the two are not biologically related, therefore they cannot be siblings. However, this is Capcom\'s series, and if they want to say in this series robots can be siblings, they can be. And if Capcom says Megaman and Roll are brother and sister, then they are. None of us dictate anything that goes on in Megaman, that\'s up to Capcom.

no they dont. they are created. Dr light merely created robots whose programming grows over time and they became more intependant. I consider X to be alive, but Rock and Roll are merely independant machines with their own mind. If you have ever read any of Asimov\'s works, you will understand the two series a lot more. Asimov was quite possibly THE greatest scifi writer of all time. He is responsible for our modern image of robotics. Prior to his writings, robots were killing machines and monsters. He created a set of laws called the \"Laws of Robotics\" which will serve as the basis of all upcoming AI research. These laws are as follows (though not word for word):

1. A robot may never harm a human being or through inaction allow a human being to come to law.

2. A robot must protect its existance at all costs, except in cases where it would contradict the first law.

3. A robot must obey all orders given it by its master, except where it would contradict the first two laws.

Rock and Roll are what we call Asimovian robots. They are required to follow these laws. This is why Rock never killed Wily when he had the chance. The other robots he fights are also following the laws because they are (1) protecting their master, (2) protecting their own existance, and (3) obeying their master.

The mechaniloids in the X series are also somewhat Asimovian, though under inluence of Sigma.

X I believe to be alive for many reasons. He is completely independant. Let me explain that further.

He does not follow the three Laws. He is allowed to act on his own and to his own accord. His programming was originally modeled after the personality of a human. Possibly, Dr Light made X much like himself in terms of personality. When Dr Cain began making the Reploids, he tried to copy X\'s designs, but he looked at him as a robot and not a human. Thus, Cain produced successful designs for independant robots. The way this was accomplished was that he removed the three Laws from their programming and proceeeded to add normal AI. He used design elements from X, but did not completely copy the original designs. Eventually, as the reploids began to engineer new reploids on their own, they became more independant and on a level close to that of X.

Zero, it is possible, was created by Light. When Forte broke in to Light\'s lab in 7, (i dont have 7 so I cant confirm this) he stole information. This information could have contained Zero\'s designs, which Wily used to create Zero, but I believe he also changed some of the programming and left instructions to destroy Rock. I find it possible that Wily could have died before the activation of Zero and that Zero activated by some random computer failure. It is also possible that somewhere hidden in the code was an encrypted piece of code inserted by Light into the plans that wily stole. This code would have been some kind of remote command intercept, that, would receive an activate command upon the opening of the capsule. When Zero awoke, he was acting on programming done by Wily, and was searching for X in a vilent way. When Sigma fought him, he damaged him a bit. When he gets the \"Wily seizure\", I believe that a part of Wily\'s code was terminated by Light\'s original programming that slipped by Wily when he created Zero. This event caused Zero to \"crash\" and he lost all memory of his programming while his code was replaced by Light\'s original code. His memories of Wily are from a hidden sector of memory somewhere in him that has not been discovered.

This all proves how the reploids are alive and X and Zero are alive. I hope this clears up a lot to you.

Well, you were definately wrong about Zero. He was not created by Dr. Light. This is a fact. About Rock and Roll not being alive, sure they have to follow those laws, but it doesn\'t mean they aren\'t alive. The only thing that is different between X and those two is more power and a different AI system.

Edit:
And the thing Bass stole was the attachment ment for Megaman and Rush, which he used for himself and Treble.

prove it. Dr Wily could have easily stolen the plans. Perhaps Light even WANTED him to steal the plans. This would have happened sometime after 7 and before R&F because we know that Wily began work in Power Fighters.

2. Why would Light want it anyway?
3. It is a well known fact. Ask Capcom if you want to.

That doesn\'t disprove what I said. Capcom still said in the Megaman 8 manual that Roll is Megaman\'s sister. You can say that\'s lazy translating all you want, but that carries no weight whatsoever. Either find something from the Japanese that says they\'re not brother and sister or be quiet. If you\'re going to try and say that Roll\'s profile in the MM 8 manual was merely bad translating, prove.

If you can\'t, then yes, they are brother and sister.

And yet, none of that proves that neither Megaman nor Roll are not alive. All you made them sound like were slaves, basically. Nice job on not proving your point.

I don\'t recall anyone saying anything in this topic about X and Zero not being alive, so what you were trying to prove really was unnecessary. Also, the majority of your paragraphs about X and Zero were only theories, so it really proved nothing.
