Which do you prefer, the PSX/PS2 games? Or the classic SNES/NES games?

I prefer the classic 2D games. Sprites is nice.:D

Eh, I just liked the simplicity and world map, as well as the constant use of an aeroship for travel.

I prefer the PSX ones..well, the PSX ports aren\'t too bad. Good for folks who don\'t want to spend 60 bucks on an old SNES cart. I haven\'t even played through all of FF6 yet, so eh. *shrug* People say that\'s the greatest out of all of them, and I haven\'t seen why yet, but I guess it\'ll develop into something later.

I really liked Final Fantasy 2 and 3 (in America, I think 3 was actually the 6th in the timeline). FFX-2\'s treated me well so far.
I wish I\'d known some of the characters when I started playing, though. FFX was like acid in my veins...

Yep, FFII, FFIII, and FFV were never released, FFIV was released under the name of FFII and FFVI as FFIII

I would have to say both, because I can\'t really decide. Honestly, in terms of gameplay, the PSX ones are better by leaps and bounds. I loved the SNES(and the NES one) ones back when I was younger, and I get a real nostalgic feeling. After player the newer games however, the old ones just weren\'t as fun as I remember them. But still, I do love the older games in the series too.

The new generation has Tactics, too. The battles in that game are too fun not to be played.

Out of the main series, the only one I dn\'t own is FF III. C\'mon Square, you know you want to release it here! ;P

The stories in the old games were better, because Square didn\'t have to work too much on graphics. But afer FFVII it seemed that Square only cared about the graphics. FFIX had a so-so story, but FFX got pwnd by every other FF games(VIII excluded...)

As for the FF games I like to play, well, of course there\'s the good old oldskool 2D games, which are just fun to play, and the newer, 3D ones that are still fun to play but have a bit more depth. Of course, the 3D element adds a bit more....complexity to the game. finding things is not as easy as in the 2-D games.

In other words, I love \'em both. Final Fantasy is just Final Fantasy, but with different stories. Kind of like lollipops that are different flavours- same thing, just a different experience.[/font]

The reason I hated it...
1. Finding a torch in 3D is pointless. At the beginning, there was nothing to wow me. Dark graphics and boring looking characters. Not even any dry humor or irony. In 2D, they had an excuse for making me find a torch or such because the storyline was the main deal there.
2. The atmosphere was so dry. It\'s kind of like being a fruit fly... I go for the fruit on the flypaper, and get stuck. If that flypaper hadn\'t been so terrible, I might be able to bear it and get to the fruit. But it doesn\'t matter how good the casinos, special effects, or giant enemy aeons are later into the game because that first underwater setting was too much.
3.Did those piranahs threaten you? They move, bite, kill. There\'s some really cheap blood. But they\'re not intimidating. Unlike the goons or flans in FFX-2, there\'s no excitement, and the game becomes a task.
Not all 3D Final Fantasy games reek, but FFX was just too bland for my tastes.

Phatman, I like FF8 too.. It\'s my favorite FF actually. =P
