Hey folks.
Recently, I have been seeing some rather rude behaviour coming from certain uninformed individuals, and the odd double poster and the like. Please don\'t think I\'m trying ot be a moderator.
As of late, I have decided to compile a list of behaviour and mannerisms that I believe are widely accepted here in Interordi.
*Do not \'double post\'. This is when you consecutively post in a topic when you are the last poster in that topic. This is a minor form of spam. On second thought, don\'t triple or quadriple post either!
*Lighten up. Try to be generally easy going, friendly and funny, and not as if you\'re at somebody\'s funeral. Then again, don\'t make a total fool of yourself.
*Be sure to keep Doc\'s rules in mind.
*Do not start what some call a \'flame war\'. This is, essentially, a heated exchange of offensive posts, between two or more members.
*Apologize to another member when you think one is in order, such as a misunderstanding, being grumpy, or someone seems offended by a post of yours.
*Avoid \'flaming\' (an offensive post) where possible. Avoid: sexual insults, foul language, religious insults, etc.
*Look at Vincent\'s New User Board Guide. I found it quite helpful, as it informs you about BB code, among many other profoundly helpful tips, that I can\'t begin to list. It is most definitely worth your time to look into his topic.
*Have a certain degree of respect torwards other members.
*Do not spam. Spam is a post not remotely related to the intended topic, a \'flame\', or perhaps double posting. I may have forgotten a few, but in general, avoid the habit. Also, a pointless topic.
*Try to use correct grammar, and spelling of words.
*Try to avoid using the
\'hip language\' of chatrooms and instant messengers. For example:
\'d00dZ 7|-|@7 R0><!!!!1111\'
or...
\'!m l337 d00dz!\'
See what I mean?
*If you\'re unsure about the spelling of a word, simply put (sp?) beside the word. For example:
nessecity(sp?)
That way, others will know you acknowledge you do not know how to spell said word.
*Do not use to many smilies, as the result of using to many may be the format of the page being messed up. They also hurt the eyes.
*Compliment other members on acheivements. For example, say Necro draws an excellent picture of...er, Spiderman. Well, compliment him on that drop dead gorgeous picture of Spiderman!
*Don\'t discourage other board members.
*Report any offensive or spam like posts you find.
Well, if you have anything to add to this list, please inform me, as these are just the mannerisms members seem to accept out of personal experience. Again, allow me to reinstate that, no, I\'m not trying to be a moderator... Thank you for reading.
