Here\'s my outlook on alien life. There are more than a billion galaxies in the universe. Each with more than a billion stars. Now if even one in every 50 million stars had a planet with life, that\'s still millions upon millions of forms of life! And eventually intelligence close to or exceeding that of humans will emerge. Whether it\'s happened or not already is anyone\'s guess.
Now to answer why we haven\'t had contact with any said species. It takes light years to reach us from the closest star to our Sun. We won\'t get any physical contact for a long time unless aliens live on Mars or another planet in our solar system.
If any species are visiting or trying to make contact, they either have found a way to surpass the speed of light, which according to Einstein\'s theories is impossible, they would need a colony on a nearby asteroid, planet, meteor, comet or other cosmic object to stay on as a base unless they live on their ships. This is my theory.

I think there is existance of other living things on other planets because the universe would be so empty if it was just us on earth. I don\'t think they look all weird, unless there planet climates are different. I just think the chances of aliens contacting us is slim.

They are billions of galaxies out there, and who knows how many planets there are, and why do people think that there is life on Mars? What about Mercury, Venus Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus(How is that supposed to be pronounced?!)Neptune or Pluto?
I belive there might be aliens, but why do people think they want to make contact with us?

One thing I want to note is: what is life? We\'re used to answer the more common question \"What makes something on Earth a living being?\", while there\'s a whole universe to consider. Life in other galaxies / star systems is probably completely different than what we can witness here. Star Wars-like aliens are probably the opposite to what is really out there. As a start: why would all creatures be around our size, instead of being thousands of time bigger or smaller?

I think life do exist
I just don\'t know why >_<U
I play Counter-Strike and 2D fighters.
Yeah I think it would be awesome if there was life on other planets, if Space is Infanite there HAS to be other forms of life. Maybe one day they will come to Earth and enslave our asses

About the souls thing, there is some scientific evidence that points to them. Some highly sensitive instruments have detected something exiting the bodies of people as they die. Some say it\'s electricity being released from the body\'s nervous system, but that defies the actual behavior of electricity. That is, it does not simply leave an object because of the object ceasing it\'s function. To physically die, electricity must exit the body, yes, but it would go to another object, not simply float off into space.
Now about the gas thing, life needs to be made of solids! Otherwise the being would simply dissapate. Did you know that stars often have metals at their centers? They\'re created from the fusion of helium and hydrogen. They are in a gas form, but when a star explodes they condense because they are flung into the cold of space, making them solid. Gas is not essential to life. Not all life forms need gasses to live. Bacterial examples of this can be found on Earth.

Energy beings have been thought of by sci-fi authors before, but again, this isn\'t very likely. However, to me it seems more likely than a creature composed of gas. Energy beings would likely be parasites as they could take advantage of their compostion and move from matter to matter, such as electricity does (think of living static electricity). This would allow them to have more control over there environment. A creature like the Drege (sp?) from the movie Titan A.E. are not likely to exist. Energy lacks the ability to maintain a shape for extended periods of time (a second is to much, for instance).

Ah, bound was such a topic to appear, with the recent landing of the two Mars Rovers...
We as humans can never close our minds to the great possibility, of intelligent life, other then that which resides in the realm of our own Solar System.
Surely we are but specks in this vast, infinite array of space, in which countless of other heavenly bodies be?
We must explore that which is beyond that of our own oyster shell, the Milky Way, to ever know as general fact.
Surely, some are skeptics. But if a scientist were to close his mind to such beliefs, I\'m sure he wouldn\'t want to spend his entire life, formulating utterly false theories that excluded their existence, if they did reside in this Universe.
Perhaps other beings, somewhere out there, gaze at the stars, and wonder, if others such as themselves be? I could go so far as to say, that perhaps, we shall never know.
Good day.

Two opinions.
Non-Intelligent life: Yes, we know that there are things like bacteria and other organisms out there.
Intelligent life: I think intelligent life should be found on Earth before we look out into space.
But seriously, I don\'t really think that there are aliens out there. I have both a scientific, and a Christian reason for this.
Scientific Reason: When the universe was formed, it is very possible that this planet was the only one that had exactly the right elements for life.
Christian: The Bible says that we have God\'s favor (despite our shortcomings) and why would he create some other people out in the Universe, if they were just there, to be there.

THE BIG BANG
Let me explain this theory.
It is theorized that before this universe began, it existed as a SUPER COMPRESSED ball of pure energy. This ball \'banged\' spawning the universe. However, many people think that it spawned all at once. That\'s wrong. And many people have that misconception that just because something is a gas, doens\'t mean it can\'t be solid. According to the laws of physics, everything can be made solid, liquid, or gaseous. That ball was probably super compressed of all the matter in the universe, drawn to one point based on incredible gravity.
Gravity is an effect on Time due to great mass (theory)
Furthermore, The BIG BANG is contrast to the BIG CRUNCH, which is a theory stating that when and if the universe is \'done\' so to speak, and it grows to such an enormous size, it will eventually begin to compress and collapse, drawing everything it is together into one little ball of energy (a SUPER BIG BLACK HOLE)
(misconception: Black holes are take up little space, but have the mass of incredible proportions)
Now, to continue with my first theory.
When that ball exploded, and all that energy reconstituted into matter, that matter drew apart. REALLY APART, like galaxies apart. So what started the star? Gravity. Or really, matter\'s attraction to other matter, which is basically gravity, only weaker. Lots of matter became compressed. And eventually, you have stars, and solar systems, and a lot of other things.
BTW, the reason why most stars are made of hydrogen is: THE MOST ABUNDANT ELEMENT IN THE UNIVERSE, BECAUSE IT\'S SO SMALL, AND WEIGHS SO LITTLE 1 proton, 1 electron.
I just wanted to get rid of some misconceptions.
BTW, do you know why we\'re carbon based lifeforms?
It\'s because Carbon, which is the central atom in just about every organ cell in every organism on earth, is very versatile. It can form FOUR COVALENT BONDS (whoo). that means an infinite amount of combinations using carbon, which is why every protein and amino acid and functional group on earth has carbon as its primary element.
There are theories that Nitrogen could be a base for life on other planets because of its covalent bond capability.
Furthermore, you know in that movie Evolution? Where they said the aliens have 10 base pairs, when we have only 4? That\'s because ours are actually the pairings of the nitrogeneous bases that create diversity in our DNA.
Adenine -- Thymine
Guanine -- Cytosine
Those are the Genetic Alphabet solved by the Human Genome Project. (They finally figured out what it was)
Hope this can help other aspiring people to formulate theories I can\'t conceive of yet....
