No, I have the worm and a whole other problem apparently. The other problem (which is messing with my exe and ddhelp files) is probably due to a missing/corrupted file. However, I don\'t see how I could run some of my exes while missing an important file so I assume that my second hypothesis (corrupted file(s) I haven\'t identified) is highly possible. That or the fact that a second virus is causing the problems.

All of the thins you have said are the exact same thins that happined to me when I installed another driver for my 3d card, thereby deactivating my old one making my computer unable to open EXE files. Have you installed anything new lately, or has the worm (if there is one) replaced one of your main drivers?

That\'s possible...I screwed something up once when messing with a system file, and it made me unable to open any Legacy (DOS or an older Windows, in Win2K/XP, they\'re listed as 16-bit) apps. I just restored the file from a pure DOS prompt and it worked fine. So there might be a similar problem here. Additionally, you might run the Win98 setup from the CD and let it reinstall Windows for you (this will NOT delete any of your personal files) That might let you at least run programs again, then you\'ll be able to clean those viruses off with a virus scanning prog ( I recommend investing in Norton Antivirus)

VERY bad idea! I did that once and all it did was to relocate all the links to the programs and the starup menu. It did update itself though, but all the bugs were there. Pocket: If you have a second hardisc like a D: drive, move all your files over to that one and format c: if really NEED to format. I\'ll still stick to my last advice though...

This certainly sounds like the type of problem I have. However, I don\'t know what driver is affected even if this was definitely the problem. The error screen doesn\'t help either with its \"module <unknown>\" message.

No my problem is not over yet, my mom has requested that I not use my home computer until a solution has been found by officials or icq or someone. She firmly believes that turning on the computer will \'activate\' the worm and corrupt more important files, making the current problem worse. I comply with her wishes because I fear she may be right. However, until she realizes that I can\'t attempt to fix anything while the computer is off, I will be using the school computers for online communication.
