This post gave me the idea

I don\'t remember who told me this or where I heard it from but the universe follows a never-ending cycle of death and rebirth. What has happened before and will happen again. Eventually, when our planet is long gone and the universe has completed its cycle and compresses back into its original state of a tiny, tiny \'thing\', it will begin the cycle again and there will be a new earth and in that time people will wonder the exact same thing that we have and they might even be us in all respects. How many times have I posted this exact message before, yet in a different frame of existence? I dunno. Maybe never. But that\'s the thought I sometimes carry.

The other thought I have is that yes, we choose our own paths (I choose you, Pikachu! ). So what if we do choose to do what we do. What do we do then?

:conf:

We accept the fact that we can suck at making choices and stop blaming God, the universe or Jebus or whoever you think is to blame and take responsibility.

I\'m sure there are other ways of thinking about this but these are the ones I follow.

If the universe does compress back to whatever, and explodes creating a new earth, would it reset time? Would that mean that we would be caught in a never-ending cycle of reliving every day over and over again, reliving the good and the bad, without ever realizing that we had lived it before? World War II happening again and again without anyone knowing that it had happened a time before?

Indeed, many philosophers and scientists alike have pondered upon this cycle theory, and have come across such revelations as if we are \'living the first cycle\' in this scenario.
In short, several beliefs involved in this theory are that we have the \'power of choice\' supposedly, for this cycle, but in the cycles to come, as we\'ve already done these actions, we are destined, fated if you will, to perform these actions once again. If we live a horrible life now, suggests this theory, the events will happen once more, with us unable to alter it. And forever more, the cycle may repeat again, and again, and again.
So, as such, it would be wise to live our lives to the fullest, trying to accomplish the best of our human capabilities.
We must be ever prudent, lest we face the results. Thus, we must always think of what the outcome of the actions we perform will be.

Well I dunno why this suddenly branched off into its own topic but that\'s pretty interesting (and also a little flattering).

This \'time reset theory\' only exists depending on what you define time to be. What is time with no one to count the seconds? What is compression if nothing else exists? If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a noise? It\'s really all relative to everything else but when nothing exists then... Umm...

You fools, this is the Big BAng theory, if something explodes at the begining of time, it spreads outward, eventually, it will sink back into a massive explosion, ending time. But of course I don\'t beleive this, JESUS is the only way!!!!!!

Well, hmmmmm....

I beleive that we have lived through all this stuff. We have lived several different lives. We just don\'t remember. When we die, we will live again as someone else, not remembering this lifetime. Yes, it gets confusing. It\'s like a big loop, a repeat button...Ya catch my drift?

It\'s all like a big stream. There\'s one main stream path that ends at a certain delta, right? But along those paths are divergency points. Those are anomalies in the space/time continuum, such as people in tights flying around and giant robots running rampant.

Who\'s still conscious...raise your hands...good! Now, let me continue...

The stream ends at a ocean or something to that effect, right? Well, the ocean can simply pump that water back into the stream via evaporated water into rain, but maybe there are a few different paths it could take. Maybe some of them have been closed off, it all depends.

So, time does not loop infinitely, but it does continue until....well, until the end of itself. Which will probably not be too soon.

Catch my drift (no pun intended)?

Reality swirled in a wholly blue manner, revealing absolutely nothing of merit. Things flashed madly in and out of existence like some entirely other sort of phenomena. On a whim, Kurt Vonnegut imploded, taking a sizeable hunk of Massachusetts with him. However, seeing as Massachusetts wasn't entirely sure it existed, the chunk wasn't all that big.
