In psychology, there is a heirarchy of needs, dictating the level of needs that humans have in order to live out their lives the most happy.

Ambition would fit into level 5, which is self-actualization. To reach one\'s true potential. I believe I am ambitious, because I have set out into this world in order to make a name for myself. I also believe that ambition is the reason why Kei and the others adopted the BIG 3 tag.

Because they wanted to be known. But why? What purpose would the have being known at an online message board by people they don\'t even know? I don\'t understand, maybe they are just conceited. I know Kei is, and I suspect windrider is because he pmed me about becoming his new rival. That\'s conceited if you ask me.

Kei blabbers on about how much time he DOESN\'T have and how he WORKS so hard, because he wants to create an image of an efficient worker for himself. He wants people to respect him, because he doesn\'t respect himself. So he lets other people do that for him.

I believe that the ambitious have low-self-esteem, so they quest in order to raise it on the respect of others. The truly \'at peace\' people are those without ambitioun, and those who don\'t seek respect, because they have enough of it for themselves.

but, let\'s be honest....are any of the people at Interordi, including myself, actually \'at peace\' with themselves?

I ask you.

While that may be true to an extent, I think that ambitious people aren\'t low self-esteemed people, they\'re just thinking that they aren\'t all that they could be. So they strive to be all they can be.

I\'m not ambitious. I try to do the least amount of work as possible for me to get by and sometimes I do less. I don\'t know if I want to change because although you might get more done, you expend more energy doing it. I barely have enough energy as it is.

I did a post about this in another topic. It can be shortened to one word: fame. Some people want to be recognized, well known and respected. Others are fine with their day-to-day life, and some people just don\'t want to be noticed at all. Ambition is part of the game, and it\'s doesn\'t have to be bad: it depends of the intensity of said ambition. Setting your goals in life and hoping to reach them is being ambitious in some way.

I dunno if I\'m \'at peace\' with myself. But I do respect myself, now anyways. I don\'t care what others think of me, though.. That\'s why I say my opinions far too often.

And Doc\'s right, of course. I\'m an odd one though..I\'d like to be recognized art-wise, but in nothing else. o.o I like to be in the shadows.

That\'s true, ambition really is FAME.

However, some people are also hungry for power. They strive to control. I think Kei is one of those people also.

I\'m at constant war with myself. I never can decide about things, always lazy but want to do something productive. I\'m not really ambitious. Yes I am! Quiet you! Ok... that was random.

Off-Topic: Kei\'s leaving?! Why am I always the last to know these things?!

I\'d consider myself rather ambitious in a sense of accomplishing my personal goals.
We all have desires we wish to fulfill, and personally, I set my standards rather high.
I actively do what I can to achieve these goals, to make them a reality. Things
don\'t happen on their own; you have to make them happen, rather.

It would be a lie to call ourselves unamibitious. We all have this quality in some respect, one way or another.
Some more than others, of course.

When we want something, we oftenly try to obtain/achieve it. We do what we can, no matter how small a scale it is. I\'m not speaking of say, getting the leading role in a movie; satisfying our own small desires would might be the correct way to phrase it.

Something as small as a child trying to nab a cookie from the jar... To do this, he tries to sneak into the kitchen unnoticed.
The miniscule action of the child even attempting achieve this goal makes him ambitious, while perhaps not on a particularily grand scale, but none-the-less. The motive drives the child.

Big O, with the other chums of the P3 being \'conceited\' as you\'ve put it, you\'re hinting I\'m the only modest one. Don\'t be judgemental now. But seemingly, you do, in fact, seem to have some of the same debating qualities Keiyoushi possesses. On the side, each post you\'ve made has seemed to bash him [Kei] in some minor way; I thought you were friends.....
