Disclaimer: Greetings and salutations. If you\'ve had a chance to see my introduction at the appropriate thread, then you know that I am an avid novellist in my spare time.
With that in mind, I figured it would be a good idea to try and start off my time here with what I do best, with a story.
Battle Network Universe is in fact, a story based upon events and actions made at a Roleplaying site called Battle Network Universe. Therefore I shall tell you now, there are alot of fan made characters in here, but however I can tell you with confidence none of them are Mary Sue type characters. The overall skill and power of each fan character will be written by how well the actual people themselves could post. I have attained permission from the creators of these characters to put them in this fanfic, but I ask that anyone else refrain from using them, as they are copyrighted by said people. The offical characters and all terms associated with them and the games are copyrighted by Capcom, and I intend to make no money from this.
Even though this is a fic based upon a site, everything from it has been written down in my own style, with the stuff being used as reference. Lastly if it isn\'t obvious, this story will be in Prose.

Megaman Battle Network Universe

““Laaaaan…Laaaaan…LAN! Wake up!” a voice shouted, jarring Lan Hikari from his sleep and onto his bedroom floor.
“Ow!” he groaned as he sat up and rubbed the back of his skull, “Who said that?”
He looked to his computer, where his PET was. His Net Navi Megaman’s image was displayed on the screen with his arms crossed and an impatient mask on his face.
“Finally…do you know what time it is?” the blue bomber asked as Lan stood up, “You’re late for school! Again!”
“I am? By how much?” the boy asked as he glanced to his alarm clock, it was fifteen minutes past his normal wake up time.
Lan’s face paled as a cold sweat rolled down his cheek.
“Oh no! Why didn’t you wake me sooner!?” he yelled while dashing around the room, changing into his regular white shirt, orange vest, black shorts, black socks and tying his blue headband on.
“I tried, five times,” Megaman responded as Lan grabbed his PET from the computer and bolted down the stairs, passing his mother as he slipped on his shoes.
He bolted back up to his room to grab his backpack and ran down, slapped on his roller blades then left the house.
“I do have admit though, you’re getting pretty good at dressing in less than two minutes,” the bomber added with a chuckle.
“Would you quit rubbing it in?” Lan demanded as he bladed down the streets, “Hopefully I’ll make in time.”
“If you’re lucky,” Megaman said quietly with a sigh.
“Get off my back, will ya?” was the response as Lan came closer to Den Tech Academy.
Both were silent for a moment. Lan, deciding to change the subject spoke.
“So…anything new in the Net?” he asked, half-knowing the answer.
“Nothing good, another bombing occurred last night,” the bomber said while crossing his arms, “It was a major factory this time. Someone was even…”
“…Was it N.O.E.T. again?” Lan asked as his Navi nodded, the young boy collected his thoughts on the previous incidents from before.
For the last few months a group of Net-operators known as the National Organisation of Eco Terrorists had been attacking various places. N.O.E.T. had claimed that the pollution in the world was rising to an extreme and the source of the problem; technology must be removed. At first their attacks were minute, holding up conventions and flooding streets. Over time however, things blew out of proportion. Businesses were bombed and famous people were assassinated. Out of the many attacks, the Netbattlers were only capable of stopping less than a few without any severe casualties.
“Got the news here Lan,” Megaman said as he spreaded his hands a part and text rolled up his PET screen.
“Hmmm…Terrorist Navis attack again, mysterious black Navi sighted at the crime,” Lan quoted as he came into the front schoolyard, “That makes the third sighting of this ‘mysterious Navi’ in the last month.”
“Don’t worry too much about it Lan,” his Navi said before smirking, “Seeing how class is about to start.”
Lan’s face paled before he bolted with all his might into the school, hoping to reach class before the bell.

One last thing to any of the veteran users or mods, if no one replies to this, am I allowed to make a double post with a new chapter? If so, then I\'ll probably be updating this once a week with a new chapter, if not, then this post here will be edited like you wouldn\'t believe.

I think it\'s okay to double-post if it\'s a new chapter. But I guess it IS best to ask. I\'ll post random comments here if you need \'em. XD Anyways. Seeing as you\'re obviously back, it\'s futile to hide under the guise of being \'Offline\', since I happen to know you just posted this. Just get it over with and get on YIM, will ya?

Anyways, Now that you\'re posting in much smaller fragments, As opposed to entire novels with each post, I\'m enjoying how the fanfic looks so far. You should make this like, a weekly thing.

Uhh no, the first chapter is just really small.
So you\'re actually going to read this? Lazy bum, you\'ve had months to do it already, oi. And please, if you are going to post, post comments/criticism instead of random stuff, or else this\'ll be close on account of spamming.

Maylu sighed as she glanced to her side while the bell for class rang. Seats filled as Miss Mari stood at the front.
“Please be quiet children while I take attendance,” she stated while looking over the classroom.
She spotted an empty seat next to Maylu, Dex and Yai.
“The only person who isn’t here is-” she started with a groan before the swift sound of her classroom door opening cut her off.
“Made it at last!” Lan shouted as he stumbled in, receiving stares from everyone, “Oh…heh…hello…”
“Lan Hikari this is the third time in a row that you’ve been late for class!” Mari shouted with great frustration in her voice.
“I’m sorry, I really tried!” the boy responded while cringing from the sound of her voice.
“That’s what he said last week,” Dex whispered to Maylu with a chuckle.
“And the week before,” Yai added as Ms. Mari looked to them.
“Just take a seat and be sure to stay behind after school,” she said while turning to the class.
Lan slumped over immediately and dragged himself to his seat albeit slowly.
“Oh man…detention again…” he groaned while dropping his head onto his desk in exhaustion, “And I ran so hard too…”
“I tried to wake him up but what happens?” Megaman said with a depressed shrug, “I don’t think he’ll ever change.”
“Lay off it already!” Lan whispered in annoyance as he placed his PET into his pocket.
“Now class,” Ms. Mari stated as she glanced to the door, “As you all know the recent Net Attacks have been caused by a terrorist organisation, one that’s been losing the battle against Netbattlers.”
“I guess she means N.O.E.T.,” Megaman said as Lan nodded, “I heard they’re starting to get pretty desperate now.”
Ms. Mari continued to explain to the class about the terrorists. Despite they had caused considerable damage with their attacks, they always lost in the end. Originally it consisted of several strong Navis, some of them Megaman himself fought against. However in each battle, a dark shadow lurked around. When no one was looking, the terrorist Navi would be struck down and deleted. Now N.O.E.T.’s forces barely had any Navis at all.
“So because of this, they’re starting to get more dangerous with each attack,” she said while looking towards a clock, “Which brings us to today’s class. In light of recent events, Dentech City High school students are coming here to speak with all the classes about what you should do.”
This enticed quiet conversations between the classmates as Ms. Mari coughed, causing them to fall silent.
“Not only that, but they’ll also tell us what life is like at Dentech High school and what they do there,” she added with a smile.
A knock from outside the classroom door caused her to look and walk over. She slid it open and looked out for a moment, before opening it all the way.
A black-haired man dressed in a blue windbreaker and jeans walked in. He appeared to be in his very late teens while he dropped to one knee so he could tie up a loose lace from one of his black boots. He rose up and looked around, removing a pair of black sunglasses that covered his brown eyes.
“Welcome to our classroom Mr…” Ms. Mari said as the person looked to her.
“Just Dana. I hate formalities,” he said in a deep and hard voice, “And thank you for having me today.”
“Our pleasure,” she replied before looking to the class, “Dana here is a student in his last year at the High School, am I right?”
“As are all the others that are visiting today,” he replied coolly.
Lan looked at him with a raised brow. He felt tempted to ask a question, but Megaman stopped him before he could open his mouth.
“Be quiet Lan…you’re in enough trouble already,” he quipped with a whisper.
“Look, I don’t like waiting around for things so can I get started already?” Dana asked with a hint of impatience in his voice.
“Sure, go right ahead,” she replied before walking over to her desk and taking a seat.
Finally… he thought before clearing his voice, “Now, as you all know N.O.E.T. is getting fiercer with each attack. This along with the fact that novice Netbattlers keep getting caught up in the battle causes great difficulty for the ones that are actually trying to do something. They’ve known this for a while now and the last attack suggests that they’re purposely causing attacks where these Netbattlers are for the sole purpose of causing more confusion. It’s this strategy that’s allowed them to elude arrest time and time again.”
He unzipped his jacket and dug into an inside pocket, pulling up a green PET.
“So what can you do if you’re caught in the battle?” he said while looking at the screen, “Notify the Netbattlers immediately for one thing. We also suggest that you to avoid Netbattling them at all costs, leave them to the S-Classes and above. Do not engage with them, that is your number one priority. If you insist on fighting however, try to battle defensive. Area Steals and Barrier Battle Chips are a must. Don’t try to stop them or to log them out; instead, stall. If you can keep them distracted long enough we may be able to intervene before things get out of hand.”
He finished reading his PET screen and pocketed it again.
“A word of warning however; they are Terrorists and the Net operators may pull a dirty stunt or two. They have committed terrible crimes in the past and are no different than World 3 or Grave,” he said before digging into another pocket and pulling up a bottled drink.
He took a quick sip and placed it into his pocket again.
“Any questions before we move on?” he asked while looking around.
No response.
“Good, now for how powerful these Navis are…”

“…A few of them are mediocre,” a girl in her late teens said to a class of students not too far from Ms. Mari’s room, “But some of them are very…very powerful, particularly the Axeman Navi.”
“Just how strong is he?” asked a young girl with icy blue hair tired in two long braids with blue bows.
“Can’t really tell you,” the older one said with a sigh, “He’s been able to log out some of our Navis with just one attack.”

“Your own Navis?” Lan asked with his hand up.
“Yes,” Dana replied as he crossed his arms, “Even with Style Changes and Battle Chips at the ready, Axeman has defeated several of us. I myself haven’t fought him yet nor plan to right away.”
“Nor plan to?” a student asked with his hand up as well, “How come?”
“It’s something you learn at our school,” Dana replied while he scratched an itch in his short, black goatee, “Strike when the opportunity suits you, that way your attack is sure to succeed.”

“Some of our better Netbattlers like to attack like a bolt of lightning so to speak,” the teen girl said to the other class, “You never know when it strikes but when it does, BAM! You never saw it coming!”
“You one of them?” the younger girl asked.
“You could say that…” the teen said with a smile, “But I’ve talked for too long. All I was really supposed to do was tell you what to do if you found a N.O.E.T. operative.”

“With that said, I’ll be taking my leave,” Dana said to Ms. Mari as he walked to the door.
“Wait! Could you tell the children a little bit about the school you go to?” she asked, causing the teen to stop and sigh.
“Okay…whatever,” he said before turning to face the class, “Like Dentech Academy, we teach students how to fight off viruses, but to a higher degree. By the time you reach my year, a Net operator and his Navi should be well capable of taking down nearly one hundred Viruses in one sweep.”
That statement alone enticed a gasp from the students.
“You will be taught how to defeat Operated and Lone Navis, taught how to adapt to various situations and how to wield Program Advances effortlessly,” he listed while crossing his arms, “Along with these you are prompted to strive in academics and the arts. English, Mathematics, Sociology and Wellness are a few of them. The classes are difficult and it will take hard work and great wits to pass them all with flying colours.”
“No problem for me,” Yai said under her breath with a hint of arrogance and her eyes closed.
“There she goes again…” Lan groaned as Dana finished up.
“And that’s pretty much it,” he said while looking to Ms. Mari, “Now I must leave. Thank you for having me.”
He spun around on his heel and left the classroom.
“I’m definitely going there!” Dex said with his arm up in the air.
“Same here,” Maylu added as she looked to Lan, “What about you?”
“Definitely,” he said before Ms. Mari glared at them.
“Be quiet Lan!” she scowled, causing him to wither deeper into his chair.

Down the hallways, Dana met up with the girl who was talking to the other class.
“So how did it go?” the red haired girl asked, noticing the dark expression on his face, “You seem cheerful enough.”
“Funny Nakartu,” he muttered as they came closer to the exit, “I told all the novices what was needed to be told. Now let’s go, I’m sure we’re needed at the Netbattler Headquarters.”
“Most likely,” she replied as Dana pushed the door open and led the two out.

Oh, don\'t worry, there will be action, Flareman can vouch for me on that. My style us try to explain things at the start, then dive into the fun stuff, helps avoid plotholes in my view.

“Boy do I sure love burgers!” Dex exclaimed as he finished eating a cheeseburger in the cafeteria with the others.
“I think Lan likes them even more,” Yai said with a sigh.
Maylu nodded as she watched Lan wolf down several burgers in less than a minute, burping after every third burger. This enticed sweat drops from all three of them.
“Wow, those burgers must be good,” commented the blue haired girl with a sweat drop of her own as she stood in line waiting for a chance to gain a burger of her own, “Maybe I’ll try one.”
She moved down and bumped into something, or rather someone else.
“Eeep!” she shrieked quietly while stumbling back.
She quickly brushed off her white shirt, particularly the ruffles on her sleeves while checking her blue capri pants for anything that fell out.
“Oh, sorry about that!” a voice said, causing the girl to look up.
It was a tall kid with brown tinted blonde hair, blue tinted green eyes that appeared to be fourteen years old-two years more than herself. The boy was dressed in simple garb: a loose white t-shirt and a pair of beige cargo shorts. Like her, he was waiting for burgers.
“Hehe, no problem,” the girl said as she rubbed her shoulder, “I was just distracted a bit.”
“Oh you mean by that?” the other remarked, pointing to the frenzy over by Dex, Maylu and Yai.
“Yup,” she replied while stealing another glance, “Wow, he sure can eat.”
“Looks like this is your first time watching Lan Hikari eat,” the older boy said with a sigh, “Believe me, it gets worse.”
“Really?” the girl asked with widened eyes, “Whoa.”
“Yeah…” was the response as both were silent for a moment before the boy asked, “You new around here?”
“What? Oh, yeah,” the girl asked, albeit surprised, “Name’s Miaka Ryuzaki. My father was transferred over to Scilabs a week ago so we had to move.”
“I see. My name’s Ken,” the boy replied as he brought up a PET, “And this is my Net Navi, Mirrorman.”
Miaka saw on the screen a Navi that looked similar to Ken but with armour segments similar to a knights, except they had a glass-like appearance.
“Hello,” his Navi said with a wave, enticing Miaka to bring up her own PET.
On the screen was a Navi that looked like a young girl. Strands of short hazel hair peeked out from the bottom of her pink helmet along with two bangs that hung beside her cheeks. Her body was dark pink with chest, arm and leg armour of a higher shade. Mounted to her back was a sword with a pink handle and wing shaped hilt.
“Hiya! I’m Sakura!” the green eyed Navi exclaimed with a cheery voice.
“Nice to meet you Miaka,” Ken said as the two received their food and stood.
“I got to get going now,” he said as he looked to the door, “I have to go study for a test after lunch.”
He sighed before walking on, leaving Miaka by herself.
“Nice guy,” Sakura said as the girl walked around, looking for a seat.
“What!?” Lan exclaimed as he stood up with his PET in hand.
Miaka looked around and fixed her eyes on him, along with half of the students in the cafeteria. Lan’s facial expression told everyone that something was gravely wrong, prompting her to slowly creep over to eves drop on his conversation with Megaman.
“Yeah, several of the trees are gone already and the Net Navis there are having no luck at all stopping him,” the bomber said with his arms crossed, “We have to get there!”
“Then let’s go!” Lan said as he ran off, shooting past Miaka.
“Wha!?” she shrieked again, spinning several times on her heel from the speed of his dash.
She finally stopped a moment later, stumbling around with a loss of balance.
“Are you alright?” a voice asked, snapping Miaka out of a trance.
“Yeah…just give me a moment,” she groaned while shaking her head and turning to the voice.
It was Maylu.
“I’m so sorry, Lan didn’t mean to do that,” she said while looking down.
“Do what?”
Maylu pointed to Miaka’s shirt, which was now plastered with ketchup, relish and cheese from the burger.
“Oh no…” she said with dot-like eyes, “Mom’s gonna kill me…”
“Don’t worry, we can help,” Maylu replied as she led Miaka out of the cafeteria with Yai following.
“What just happened?” a kid asked to Dex.
“I dunno, Megaman got a message from an anonymous person that N.O.E.T. was attacking the Forestnet,” he replied as he looked to his PET, “The person said Axeman himself was tearing the place up.”
He glanced at a window where he saw Lan roller-blading over the horizon, heading over to stop the chaos that was blooming in the forest.

Yeah. There\'s more action than you can shake a stick at. he\'s just working up to it.

On an off note, he just called me a lazy bum. I am thusly forced to annoy the living hell out of him for the rest of the day.

Oh yeah. There will be some really hardcore fights in the future, I just have to get there first. And Flareman, you are a lazy bum, you putz! So nyah!

Sniperman and Vulcangunman stood back to back, shooting down wave after wave of Mettaur viruses that attacked the network of the Techno-Forest. They both battled hard as a large, gold plated Navi rushed at them with an axe of immense size and swung hard, causing them to scream in pain as they were logged out. The Navi landed and spun his weapon around a few times before placing it onto his back. His height was astounding, nearly matching Knightman’s and his muscled body made it clear that he was in great condition as well. His armour fitted his brown under suit comfortably, allowing the best mobility possible. His helmet had and axe mounted to the top, a blade pointing out to his left and right side.
“Good work,” said a deep and rugged voice.
A man stood holding onto a PET that was jacked into one of the machine/plant-spliced trees of the forest. He wore a toque over his short, brown hair, a white t-shirt under a plaid red sleeveless vest, brown working gloves, blue jeans and a pair of brown working boots. Anyone who saw him would have immediately called him a lumberjack.
“Thanks Jack,” the Navi said as he walked up to a cybernetic tree and readied his axe.
In one motion he cleaved through it, cutting off the data feed to the tree Jack had jacked the Navi into.
“Jack-out Axeman,” the lumberjack said as he pulled his jacking port out of the tree, “Now let’s move before Netbattlers arrive.”
Jack walked towards another tree, leaving a path of dying trees behind.
“Jack in Axeman! Power up!” he shouted while shoving his connector into the tree-port.
Axeman beamed down in a ray of yellow and brown in a floating network. Cybernetic bushes, grass and a few trees could be seen. Ahead of him was a large neon green tree, one that was the very life of the spliced trees of the forest. Like the previous ones, if this tree were felled, then the actual tree Axeman was in would eventually die.
“First a round of viruses…” Jack said as he fiddled around with his PET.
The sky above Axeman rippled like a pond as pixels of data began to part, revealing a gate into darkness. Dozens of Mettaur and Swordy viruses fell from the hole and landed in various spots of the net area, immediately attacking whatever they could strike on the spot. Axeman sighed as he made his way over to the neon tree.
“Don’t you think this is going a little too far?” he asked his operator as he gripped his massive axe.
“I do, but you know how the other guys are,” Jack replied as he shook his head in disappointment, “They feel so threatened at the moment that they’re willing to throw out the book of morals just to get a point across. It’s really starting to disgust me.”
“A compassionate terrorist, I never would have guessed,” a voice quipped nearby.
Jack jerked his head around, searching for whoever was eavesdropping on his conversation with Axeman.
“Who’s there?” he demanded, checking for any signs of an ambush.
“Just me,” said the voice of a younger man with white and black hair.
He walked out from behind a tree with his hands in his camouflage pants before adjusting his red vest that he wore over his black shirt.
“Blaze?” Jack stated in surprise, “I heard you were out of town!”
“I am, so to speak,” was the reply as he brought out his red PET, “I figured I’d stop by for a picnic and a few Netbattles before I left. Something wrong with that?”
“Oh no, by all means do what you wish, just later,” the lumberjack replied, “There were a few guys running around here a few moments ago. I’m pretty sure you’d get a good fight out a few of them.”
“Or you,” the other person replied as he pulled out his connector cord and walked closer to Jack’s position, “That and you’re wreaking havoc in the area, something I can’t allow you to do. Jack in Protoman! Power up!”
On the spot Axeman stood not too far from a red Net Navi with his arms crossed. He could see himself in the Navi’s sunglasses as a wind blew his long grey hair like a scarf.
“I wasn’t expecting to fight the N1 Grand Prix winners here,” Axeman said as he looked up, “C’mon Jack, we can do this.”
The lumberjack stood for a moment, contemplating the thought of fighting against a team with a reputation like the Champions. His mind was torn between the glory of battle and the duty that he had accepted long ago. He thought for another moment, and made up his mind.
“Fine, ready yourself Chaud Blaze!” Jack stated as he gave him a competitive glare into the younger person’s blue eyes.
“Let’s do this,” Chaud replied as he brought up an object and slapped it into his PET, “Longsword Battle Chip in! Download!”
Protoman charged at the enemy and brought his right hand to his chest as it shifted into red light, morphing into a long cyber blade. He leapt up, wound his arm back and made a vicious chop at Axeman as he came down from the air. The N.O.E.T. Navi quickly rolled under the attack with a surprising amount of agility that a Navi of his size would normally not have.
“He’s fast?” Protoman pondered as he whipped around and spotted Axeman closing in with both hands holding onto his main weapon.
“Get some distance Protoman,” Chaud advised as he dug into his pocket for another chip, “If he can roll like that, then there’s a good chance he could swing just as quickly.”
“Point taken,” the red replied as he back flipped out of a harsh swing and catapulted himself off a tree, quickly swiping at the enemy as he came in close.
Axeman used the momentum of his massive swing to spin on his heel, adding more speed to his attack as he smacked Protoman’s attack off with enough force to knock the Navi away from him. Protoman quickly regained his balance in the air and twisted around to land gently on his feet. He turned around to face Axeman.
“Looks like we underestimated you,” he said to the enemy while assuming an attacking stance, “Never expected someone so cumbersome in appearance to be so fast.”
“Most people tend to lose before they realize that,” Axeman replied coolly as he shifted into a defensive stance.
“However we can’t keep this up for much longer, we still have a job to finish!” Jack shouted as he slapped a Battle Chip of his own in, “Wood Tower!”
Axeman slammed his fist into the ground, causing it to shake on the spot. Protoman looked around as cracks started to open up everywhere he could see. Massive steaks erupted from the ground, impaling and deleting many of the viruses that were attacking the area. Protoman himself leapt around to avoid becoming a pincushion.
Jack himself threw a smoke bomb during the incident, escaping with his jacked out Navi in his hands and moving towards another area.
“We’ll finish the battle later, right now I have to finish my job!” he shouted over the distance, “But I did leave you a present!”
Chaud coughed as the smoke cleared. He fanned away any remaining smoke from his PET so he could observe what Jack meant.
“Joy…” he grumbled.
Another wave of Mettaurs fell from the sky, strengthening the numbers of the virus attackers by tenfold. Protoman stood as his Longsword vanished, cracking his knuckles.
A beam of pink light struck one, causing it to explode into a storm of data pixels. Protoman glanced back, half-knowing who shot the beam.
“Looks like the party’s just about to start,” said the ever familiar blue Net Navi with his buster at the ready.
“Pretty boring if you ask me,” replied a voice, Lan’s.
He came up holding his PET and looked around.
“Nice to see you again Chaud, I thought you were heading out of town,” he said, unknowingly repeating Jack’s statement.
“I felt like going out with a bang,” he replied with a sigh, “Unfortunately the guy I was planning on showing the fireworks to fled and left a gift of his own.”
“Was it who I think it is?” Lan asked, receiving a nod, “Then we gotta stop him!”
“First we have to delete all these viruses before they can spread,” Chaud replied, “See that neon tree? If it dies, the tree dies as well. We gotta stop it from being killed.”
“Easier said than done,” the younger boy replied as he slapped in a chip, “Blaster Battle Chip in! Download!”
Megaman unleashed a volley of golden energy shots while Protoman charged in with a Cybersword. The bomber received a Cybersword of his own and went in after his rival, leaping at a pack with a spinning swing.
“Haiya!” he shouted as he landed, felling a dozen Mettaurs.
“Take this!” Protoman shouted as he made an inward sweep with his blade, cleaving off most of the Swordys.
Gliders and Fishys came in from the darkened sky, which Megaman shot down with the aid of a Spread Buster chip.
“Megaman! Aim for the gate!” Lan shouted as he uploaded a Cross Blaster.
Megaman took aim with his now red, narrow barrelled cannon and fired a concentrated beam of energy from it, piercing through a few of the airborne enemies. The other viruses quickly caught onto Lan’s plan and rushed in to guard the hole while strengthening their troops. The beam struck and exploded on contact with the enemies, taking out several dozen of them with the blast.
Megaman and Protoman covered their eyes from the blast while Lan watched on, when he widened his eyes.
The gate still remained with its barrier of viruses, a considerably less amount then before but otherwise a decent number.
“We need a stronger attack,” the boy said as he looked to Chaud, bringing up his Cybersword, Widesword and Longsword Battle Chips.
“Agreed,” Chaud said as he brought up his own three sword chips.
Megaman and Protoman nodded as they placed their arms out.
“Program Advance!” all four shouted as the operators readied their Cybersword chips.
A massive beam of lightning rushed past Megaman and Protoman, crashing into and deleting the rest of the viruses in one shot with an electric explosion. The two looked back and spotted a Navi with his hands forward, lightning surging around his fingers. With a flash of light, a ball of electricity was now floating in between his palms.
“If it isn’t one thing than it’s another,” Chaud groaned as he waited to see what would happen next.

With this, we now have several of the \"BNU Crew\" as I call them introduced; Miaka, Dana, Ken, Mirrorman.exe, Sakura.exe, Jack and Axeman.exe. Of them all, Jack had to be one of the first members with Dana following closely behind. Sad thing is, after this saga, the person who was Chaud quit, no one else has been him since, and this was over a year ago too.

Megaman tilted his head as he examined the electrical Navi. While he was not standing completely straight, he estimated him to be about Protoman’s height. The Navi’s body was very similar to the standard model, a simple light shade of green for most of his body with darker green gloves, boots and a darker green chest plate with a blue jewel embedded in the center. What made him different from the standard model was the added feature of well toned muscles, a green helmet with a jewel in the center and two fins that rose up from his eyebrows then curved along the top of his helmet with the ends extended past by the length of two fingers. Megaman also noted that the Navi had a pair of white, angelic wings that were attached to his back.
“Go,” the Navi said with a slightly deep voice, that of a young man’s.
“What?” Megaman asked with a raised eyebrow.
“I said move it! My attack won’t hold back those viruses for long!” the green Navi shouted.
Megaman turned around to see what he meant. The black gate, which had been supplying further numbers to the massive amount of viruses, was covered in a web of lightning. The numbers continued to increase as the web began to stretch.
“I thought you deleted all of them!” Megaman responded in shock.
“Hardly, but this is not the time! You two get going and stop that terrorist!” the Navi replied as he brought his hands to his side charging electricity into a fine ball between his palms, “He’s probably heading to the main tree seeing how Netbattlers are after him. If he releases a virus attack like this one from there, then the entire Techno Forest is in trouble!”
Megaman was about to protest when Protoman placed his hand on his shoulder.
“He knows what he’s doing,” the red said calmly, “Let’s get moving ourselves.”
“Fine,” the bomber replied as he looked up, “Jack me out Lan.”
“Way ahead of you,” was the reply as Lan pulled out his cord.
Megaman dematerialized into millions of pixels before vanishing with Protoman following after him. The green Navi smirked as he looked up and saw his web of lightning burst like a volcano with hundreds of viruses pouring out.
“You guys are pretty lucky actually,” he commented to them as the orb grew larger and sparked violently, “I only fight the strongest of opponents, not scum like you.”
His words sparked anger among them, causing them all to rush forward at him.
“Word of the wise: Never charge at your enemy blindly, especially when he’s going to use Thunder God Attack!” the Navi shouted as he hurled his hands forward and released the charged energy in the form of a massive beam of blue light.
Electricity surged around the beam, sparks growing into bolts as it surged on and engulfed the viruses. Dozens began to disintegrate as the beam blasted through most of the numbers before it flashed, triggering a mighty explosion that rocked the area. Smoke and dust blanketed the ground, engulfing the Navi as he covered his eyes from the blinding light of the blast. The blast died out a few seconds after as a soft gust of wind blew away the dust, revealing the Navi once more. He lowered his hands to survey his handiwork and crossed his arms. Over one hundred viruses had been deleted by the attack, enticing a “Hmph” from him.
“It’s like I said earlier, by the time a student reaches my year,” a voice buzzed to the Navi, “A net operator and his Navi should be well capable of taking down nearly one hundred viruses in one sweep.”
“In this case it was a little over that Dana,” the Navi replied as he looked to the gate, “But it still wasn’t enough. The stupid thing is still open.”
“I didn’t have you perform Thunder God Attack to destroy the gate, I had you use it to show them that we’ve had enough of N.O.E.T.’s foolishness,” replied the voice of the High School student, the Navi’s operator, “That and I would be more of a challenge for us to fight off so many viruses with them still able to replenish their forces on a whim, no?”
“Good point,” the Navi replied as he observed the weakened viruses, their numbers reduced by half.
He cracked his knuckles before raising his right hand, causing a javelin to materialize above his palm. The weapon was simply crafted with a sharp cyber spearhead at one end of the man-sized shaft. He gripped and spun the weapon around effortlessly before pointing it forward.
“Let’s dance…” the Navi said as he thrusted forward, opened his wings and catapulted into the air.
“Obelisk! Buster Lance attack!” Dana shouted to his PET, whipping out his other hand.
The Navi’s spearhead flashed as it began to give off a golden light. He spun the weapon around and wound back as he approached the viruses and swung hard with both hands holding onto the shaft.

A virus was blown clear by one of Megaman’s Mini-Boomers as he and Protoman pressed on through the massive network of the main area.
“Why would they go after so many of the other trees when they could have felled this one instead?” Lan asked as he looked over to Chaud, who was jacked in at another tree.
“It’s how the Techno-Forest is designed,” the rival replied as he dug up a Widesword chip, “Each one of these trees that we are jacked into serves as a bit of a power station for the main area, the Forestheart. Each tree collects sunlight and minerals then processes it into a form of data-photosynthesis that gets fed to the Forestheart. Normal attacks against the Forestheart alone wouldn’t do much because there is so much data and power being fed to it by the other trees, anything you do would get restored pretty much right away. In this case, even if Axeman cut down the data source of the area, the other trees together would be well capable of creating a new source.”
“So cut of the feed from the other trees…” Lan stated as the realization struck him.
“And the Forestheart would never recover from a powerful attack!” Megaman shouted as he blasted down the last set of viruses in the Forestnet area he was in.
“Which is why we can’t let anymore of these trees fall,” Protoman added as he swung hard, felling the last of the viruses in his area.
Both were jacked out immediately.
“How far are we from the Forestheart now?” Lan asked as the two ran down to another pair of trees.
“Not too far,” Chaud replied as he brought up his cord, “Once we jack into these trees, we should be able to get into the Forestheart.”
“Well then, what are we waiting for?” the boy asked as he brought up his cord.
“Jack in!” the two shouted as they prepared for the worst.

And now we have the introductions of Dana and his Navi, the powerful Obelisk.exe, both 10 year veterans of Netbattling. Those two are my RP characters, so if you notice any signs of them being written a slight bit more descriptive/often than the rest, it\'s because I\'m used to writing with them for a year and a half now, that and I am the most active member on the site itself.

Father Carius: These sad events may yet be made to work in our favor. I wish to send Elena to Granas Cathedral immediately. It is rumored that his Holiness, Zera, knows of an ancient sacrament which has the power to cleanse the Soul of Darkness. The rite would free Elena and shield others from the taint of evil. We may again be able to seal the Wings again. Such an act would delay Valmar's return. However, those that follow Darkness will not sit idly as our plans come to fruition.
Ryudo: ... I'm sorry, were you waiting for me to give a damn?

Axeman cut down two more Navis as he stood in the Forestheart. Like the other areas of the Forestnet, it was covered with simulated grass, bushes, flowers, trees and even a few bugs. The sky however, still looked like the inside of a motherboard. Axeman stopped at a large, neon tree and held up his weapon. It was twice the size of the other trees, reaching an astounding height and boasting a massive trunk.
“Should we start?” Axeman asked his operator who nodded.
He wound his massive axe back with both hands and swung with all of his might. The blade struck an invisible force that repelled the giant Navi back a few steps.
“Did you get the tree down?” Jack asked as his Navi pointed to it, “A barrier…looks like Chaud and Protoman managed to save all of the other trees. How though? They were facing overwhelming odds…”
“What do we do?” Axeman asked as he glanced around, spotting nothing but a few blowing leaves and the shadows cast by the trees.
“We have to keep trying. It is for the good of the world,” the lumberjack replied, “We must bring this tree down! For the world!”
“For the world!” Axeman repeated as he swung his mighty axe at the barrier program.
Once again his attack was braved.
“Axeman!” Jack shouted in anticipation.
“What?” the Navi responded as he cracked his wrists and readied for another strike.
“I think we may have to resort to the last option,” was the grave response, “As much as I don’t want to do this, we may have to.”
“Are you certain?” Axeman asked as he received a nod, “Then there is no other way.”
He drove his axe, bottom-first into the ground and crossed his arms over. His body began to glow as the area began to shake. He closed his eyes as he waited for everything to end.
“STOP!” a voice called from nowhere.
Axeman snapped his eyes open as he saw a ball of energy in the form of a fist flying at him. He quickly stopped what he was doing and picked up his axe then immediately swung up to deflect the shot. He swung the axe skilfully after, then rested it on his shoulder while glancing around.
“What’s this!?” he shouted aloud, making sure he was heard, “Who’s here!? Protoman!?”
“I am known as Jazz. I am a Navi with no allegiance to anyone, not even to an operator,” the voice said, closer now, “My mission in life is to bring well-deserved death to those that wreak havoc on an otherwise peaceful world…”
Stepping out of the shadows war a black Navi with gold trimmings along the outer edges of his shoulder pads, body armour, and boots and along his wrists. A navy blue cape blew gently to his left as he kept his visored black helmet lowered. Axeman couldn’t see through the visor as it was black on the outside, but he assumed the Navi was able to see right through it. His knobs were black and had a finger length fin that stuck out from them. Along the top of his helmet was a ridge that had a red miniature crystal embedded at the front. Axeman also noted the physique of the Navi’s body, particularly his grey biceps and thighs that were well toned.
“…And now my sights are set on you…” the Navi named Jazz said with a hard and very deep voice.
“Hah! So this is the mysterious Jazz that’s been the talk of the Net Boards!” Jack stated with a laugh, “People have been wondering if you even existed! Some even think you as evil as I!”
“Rumours tend to stretch the truth,” Jazz replied coolly as he cracked his knuckles, “Now let’s do this.”
“You expect to defeat me and my mighty axe alone?” Axeman said as he wielded it into a battle stance.
Jazz raised his head as if he was looking Axeman right in the eyes, the massive Navi couldn’t tell from the way the visor was set, he was only able to see his enemy’s mouth and chin.
“Who says I’m alone?” he replied as he sidestepped to the left.
A large object flew at Axeman, striking him in the skull with enough force to knock him back a few steps.
A Navi wearing light red armour stood while holding onto what appeared to be a large mallet. His eyes like Jazz’s were hidden behind a jet-black visor that was mounted to his red helmet.
“What the!? There are more of you!?” Axeman growled as he rubbed his face, noticing his helmet was dented.
“Name’s Malletman,” the Navi said as he wound back his arm, “We were passing by when my operator and myself spotted a big guy in the restricted area of the Techno-Forest.”
“Only Netbattlers and officials of the Forest have access to such a place,” replied a youthful voice, that of an eleven year old boy with spiky brown hair and brown eyes.
The youth stood outside of an employee station wearing a bunny hug, khaki shorts and a pair of red and white sneakers.
Of course we had to sneak in here since we’re not Netbattlers yet…the boy thought with a sigh before he whipped up a chip, “Mallet Toss Battle Chip in! Download!”
The mallet flashed for a brief moment as the red Navi hurled his weapon at Axeman with all of his might. The terrorist Navi leapt back to gain some distance as the mallet began to split into two copies, then four and finally eight! Axeman immediately went on the defensive as he jumped around to avoid one attack after another.
“Double Force Ball!” a voice shouted as Axeman looked around.
He was immediately struck in the stomach by a bright blue energy ball, smacked on the side of his head by a mallet, crunched on the other side by another mallet, blasted underneath by another energy ball and pounded in the back by the last of Malletman’s mallets. Axeman growled as he swung his axe in a full circle, releasing a wave of his own energy that cut down the remaining mallets. He landed on the ground with a loud thump as he looked around, spotting Malletman but no Jazz.
“Have at you!” shouted the black Navi from above.
Axeman leapt back and barely evaded a flying fist from Jazz that pounded deep into the ground, kicking up dust.
“This is starting to become a real annoyance,” the terrorist Navi grumbled as he maintained a defensive stance.
“It’s okay Axeman. We can handle this together…we must…” Jack said as he brought up a Battle Chip, “For together we will win at all costs! Area Steal Battle Chip in! Download!”
Just as he slapped the chip into his PET, Axeman vanished from where his stood.
“Where did he go?” Malletman asked, running up to the black Navi.
“Where else? Behind you!” Axeman boomed as he swung with all of his speed and power.
Jazz leapt as Malletman made a kick to the massive Navi’s knee, causing him to fall of balance as the black wonder landed on the axe’s broadside and ran along it’s shaft to strike Axeman in the face. Unfortunately for Jazz, Malletman attacked again, causing Axeman to lose all of his balance as he fell, causing his axe to swish about in a variety of unpredictable directions.
“WAH!!” the black Navi shouted in surprised as he back flipped off of the axe and landed on the ground, a considerable distance away from the enemy.
Malletman was caught off guard by the wild axe and was struck in the side by its broadside. He jumped back, albeit dazed and winded but otherwise fine.
“Wood Tower!” Axeman shouted at he slammed his axe into the ground with great fury, causing the area to quake.
Several sharpened tree stumps erupted everywhere from the ground. Jazz took to the air as Malletman tried to pound down any of the wooden stakes that came up around them. The black Navi in the mean while was catapulting himself from tree to tree with the grace of a ninja. He launched himself at the enemy Navi and brought his fist up.
“Try my version of the Fire Tower chip!” he shouted as he landed and slammed his fist into the ground, triggering an eruption of blazing fire from the ground.
Jazz ripped his fist out of the ground and smacked the pillar of flames, causing it to rage at the enemy, striking him dead on.
“Axeman!” Jack shouted as he watched his Navi burn, No! Axeman’s a wood elemental Navi and the entire area is made up of grass panels as well!
“I’m…fine!” Axeman shouted as he blasted away from the tower, singed but functional.
He wound back his axe again and hurled it like a boomerang, whipping past several of the wooden pillars from a few rounds ago and returning to him. White lines briefly flashed along the near bottom of the stumps before the pillars began to keel over, cleanly cut where the lines were.
“Tiiiimmmmberrrr!” Axeman shouted, laughing at his horrid joke.
Jazz leapt to the air and headed to Malletman, who was trapped by the falling trees.
“Heads up!” he shouted as he landed, grabbed the Navi by his arm and jumped again, clearing the area as the trees landed harshly to the ground with an earth shaking crash.
Jazz landed and fell to his knees a few seconds later, setting Malletman down.
“Go get help, I can hold him off for a little bit longer,” he said as the area began to shake.
“No! He’s using another Wood Tower!” Malletman said as he looked around.
“That’s right kids!” Axeman said with a smile as he held onto his axe, which was driven into the ground, “You see I have a unique ability, which is to use Wood Tower at my own will as long as I’ve already used the chip in the same battle. Now face the power of mother earth!”
Sharpened pillars of wood erupted again, catapulting the felled pieces of wood into the air. Jazz looked up as he spotted the stumps falling back down, gaining great momentum as they dropped. He was in trouble and he knew it.
If I jump, the falling debris’ll squash me. If don’t, I’ll become a net scarecrow, he thought while glancing down at Malletman.
“Get out of here, NOW!” he commanded as the red Navi shook his head defiantly.
“No! I can still fight!”
“And get deleted!? Not while I’m around,” Jazz replied as he lifted Malletman up and immediately threw a hard fist at his chest, causing the Navi to gasp.
Malletman choked for air as his eyes rolled, and he was automatically logged out.
“I didn’t want to do that…” Jazz said with a sigh, “But I’d rather not let an innocent Navi suffer any hideous fate.”
Jazz cracked his knuckles as he slowly rose to his feet, ready to overcome the odds that were presented to him.

Ah yes, Jazz. One of the more popular members of the site has finally made his appearance. Despite his claims to be \"mysterious\", he tends to be far from it in his posts .
